Rating: Summary: The last great album from the best metal band on earth Review: This is my favorite album of all time. Very few bands can put it together like metallica can. I know what you are thinking: Metallica can't write worth a damn anymore. But you are wrong. They still can, but the chose to sell out and write commercially acceptable music so they could line their pockets. In doing this, they turned away more fans than they will ever know. Now about the album. This is some of the most technically challenging music written by a metal band, period. Listen to the dual guitar after the solo in "One" or the fast interlude in "Frayed Ends Of Sanity", and you'll know what I'm talking about. And the solos are amazing. There is really no other word for them. And the intense riffing behind them only heighten the whole feel of the songs. Aside from the guitar work, the drumming is phenominal. I've never heard drumming so fast, intense, and just plain angry on an album. And it doesn't stck out, either. It blends perfectly with everything else. Aside from the obvious (this album just kicks arse), the thing that really gets me about it is the length of the songs. They are all at least 5 1/2 minutes long (the longest being just under 10), and the don't get boring, which is very hard to do. They put so many riffs into one song that it would be wrong for the songs to be any shorter. This is the finest effort metallica has ever came forth with, and it is to bad tht they had to succomb to the all mighty dollar, when continuing to write like this would have brought them all the money they ever needed.
Rating: Summary: Excellent musicianship Review: Metallica's best effort to date, ...And Justice for All, shows the universal character of the phenomenon called METALLICA. All songs are great, with To Live Is To Die and One being metal anthems. There's a lot of soul and feeling mixed with aggressivness and heavy riffs. A MUST!
Rating: Summary: Rocks hard Review: This was the first Metallica album that i bought, and i wasnt disappointed. The songs are dark and heavy and the music is great. One is probably the best song and the album, but the isnt one weak spot on it.
Rating: Summary: THE LAST OF THE 4 GREATEST METAL ALBUMS EVER MADE! Review: Like Kill'em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, this album is a class by itself as Metallica's 4th masterpiece.Too bad they "sold out" after this one...
Rating: Summary: Departure Review: This Metallica album represents the change from hard core, fast-paced thrashmetal, to the slower, but still heavy as ever, side of the rock spectrum. This album takes a serious look at the corrupt justice system and government. It also lights the fire of many rebellions with songs like Dyers Eve and Justice For All. Of course, it wouldn't be a Metallica album without the ritual song foretelling of future death and destruction. The song I speak of is Blackened. You can almost see the bombs going off as the world slips into chaos. One, probably the best song on this album, continues the spirit of Disposable Heroes as it looks at life from wounded warriors point of view. When you come down to it, this album really brings out the true Metallica. Fast paced, but also subdued. Heavy, yet light, it is probably the most contoversial album Metallica has done. I give it 5 stars and would suggest it for any rock lover. As for Metallica fans (like myself) this album is a must-have for your collection.
Rating: Summary: I felt that this CD was excellent Review: If you do not believe that Metallica are trully good at what they do, or you like them for their heavier music, then this is the CD for you.
Rating: Summary: Metallica at their best! Review: What is it really to say? "One" alone assures that the album gets 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: very heavy, very dark, very good.... must have!!! Review: This is without a doubt one of the best cd's ive ever heard. It is , although, metallica's second best work, in my opinion, to Master...- the best cd i have ever heard. There is NO reason to doubt the talent and artistry of this album. The lyrics are pretty good and Lars really came to his peak on Justice. Kirk Hammet, as usual, showed perfection in his solos. Jason is the only bassist i have heard that can replace Cliff, eventhough you dont hear much of him on this cd. James took a massive voice change for this album, adding to the dark, gloomy intensity of ...and Justice For All. ONE is one of the most classic metal songs ever written, and i would pay $15 for a cd with only that song on it. I also feel the same way about To Live Is To Die, a very harmonic song that explores every aspect of metal music, and covers them completely. Its poetic lyrics are the best of a metallica song, and it is the only song on the album that was co-written with the late Cliff Burton. In conclusion, this is a must have for all metal fans, old and new. Chris Bruce
