Summary: I'm in love with a fictional guy!!
Review: I don't read romance novels - or at least I didn't until this one came to my attention! I usually read what I like to call "good" literature, but this book and its sequels made me think it was time to take up romance novels. WRONG! A quick perusal of other novels in this category convinced me that only Diana Gabaldon's efforts are worth reading. Gabaldon's Jamie, or should I say Claire's Jamie, is the type of man every man wants to be and every woman wants to have. Yes, I know Jamie's too everything - virile, intelligent, gorgeous, sensitive - you know, the kind of man who can be beaten within an inch of his life and making love to Claire a couple days later. Gabaldon has convinced me to willingly suspend my disbelief, nay, even more. So what do I do now? I've already polished off all of the series and re-read "Outlander." I'll remain in mourning until the next addition arrives! Please tell me there'll be a next one.

Summary: Where have all the Scottish Lairds gone?
Review: I'm not really a romance novel reader, but after hearing and reading so much about this book I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. This is a romance novel that transcends the genre: the heroine is intelligent, independent, and lovably flawed; the hero has sense of humor and an endearing vulnerability.

One of the most vivid and enjoyable characters in the book is Captain "Black Jack" Randall; even though I hated him I found him perversely compelling. In a way he reminded me of Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter - repugnant and frightening but sexy at the same time.

Get the book. Read it. Fall in love with it. You'll want to buy a copy for every woman friend you have.

Summary: An excellent yarn.
Review: I am looking forward to reading the sequels. Really love the characters, and witty dialogue.

Summary: MY OWN PERSONAL SCOTTISH ESCAPE
Review: This was by far the BEST book I have ever read. Diane is the most imaginative writer I have ever read. This was my own personal escape..so much so that after reading this book I took a trip to Scotland. Everything was as I had imagined it and how Diane described. I am now finishing the 4th book, Drums of Autumn, but Outlander is, in my oppion, is the best. Only because that is where all the magic started.

Summary: A great read that draws you in so you never want to leave.
Review: I was bored at work and a friend lent me "Outlander" only if I swore to give it back with no drool marks. Intrigued, I started the book that minute. I couldn't put it down until the very end. When I finished it I felt a deep sense of "More, give me more"! I have never met such wonderful characters in such a vivid setting and under such page gripping circumstances. Now I've read all four books and still want "MORE". I want to see Claire and Jamie grow old and I think you will too.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: This book blew my mind! I've been reading time travel romances, and for the most part, have been disappointed. Most seem to concentrate on the romance and get sloppy with the story. Quite a let down. Then I discovered "Outlander". It is exactly what I've been looking for! What an excellent story. I've never read a book where the characters were so completely developed. I honestly don't see how anyone could come up with such an intense, romantic, believable, touching story without actually living it. The rest of DG's books are on my Christmas list. Thank you Ms. Gabaldon!

Summary: Slow As Molasses!
Review: I actually bought the entire series & only recently got the chance to sit down with the first volume of Diana Gabaldon's series about Scotland. Well, talk about slow, boring and way too much detail! I gave up after about 10 chapters! While Ms. Gabaldon's intense research & knowledge is admirable; there is such a thing as too much of a good thing! Not the type of book to breeze through; whether during a morning commute to work or a rainy night at home when nothing interesting is on tv. It's back to mystery/thrillers for me!

Summary: Och aye - 'Tis a superb piece of writing...
Review: Well this novel & the sequels would have to be my all time favourites. I read it while on holiday in Scotland last year and found it very difficult to put down! Being in Scotland while reading it made it even more real to life. My husband & I found a number of stone circles, but alas I'm still in the 20th century!! A truly wonderful read, packed with adventure, romance and a heavenly Scotsman!! Just a note to point out - this novel is published under the title of CROSS STITCH in New Zealand & also the UK. Looking forward to more sequels.....

Summary: The whole series is sensational!!!!
Review: I have read the first four books three times each. I am waiting impatiently for the next books to be finished and on my local bookstores' shelves. Keep up the great work Diana Gabaldon!
