Summary: HAVE READ 'OUTLANDER' AND THE REST OF HER BOOKS FOUR TIMES!
Review: And I never tire of them, can't wait for another of Ms. Gabaldon's books to be published! She makes her characters live! I wish that it was winter time to curl up and read them all again by a warm fire!

Summary: one of the best
Review: This was one of the best books I've ever read. Jamie and Claire haunted me for days after I finished readung this book. A really great love story.

Summary: When is the next book?
Review: This is the only thing that I could think of when I finished reading Outlander. When I finished reading all four books in Gabaldon's series about Jamie and Clare, I felt as if I personally knew all the people in the story. I felt as if I had been transported back in time with Clare. I would love it if Gabaldon continues the saga with another book. But, after reading this series of books I'm sure that I would read any book that Gabaldon will write in the future. She's a wonderful story-teller!

Summary: I didn't want to put it down, but didn't want it to end!
Review: I picked up this book to take on a trip to England and Scotland...just something to read on the plane. I never imagined that it would be so good. I found myself transported into the past, and I didn't want to put it down (which is a problem when you are on a sightseeing holiday!). I flew through Outlander, and promptly had to go in search for the second in the series. (for what it's worth, in Scotland, Outland is called "Cross Stitch"). As I was standing in line to purchase the sequel, in Stirling Scotland, a Scot woman behind oohhed and ahhhed about the books, and mentioned that she had read every one of them! I think that's a glowing recommendation in itself! I can't wait to read the other books in the series.

Summary: Gabaldon is Magic!
Review: This first book in the Claire & Jamie Fraser series cements the readers interest almost immediately, despite the rather strange concept of time-travel thru stone circles. Reading the story in the first person thru Claire's eyes was also unusual, but can't detract from the shear enjoyment of watching these two characters find eachother. From post-war forties Scotland to pre 1745 Highland uprising, the story takes you on a tour of the north of Scotland that will endear the Highlands to you forever.

Claire finds herself depositted in the midst of fueding clans, corrupt redcoats, and meeting up with the most captivating and unexpected hero ever created. Jamie is everything your typical romantic hero steriotype is not, and how refreshing that is. And he just gets better with age, like an historical Sean Connery.

One minute you're crying with laughter and the next the tears are for the heartbreak that Jamie or Claire must suffer. Gabaldon's story line is constantly inspired, keeps you guessing and ultimately ties together in a very satisfying read. The snappy dialogue between her characters alone is enough to recommend her work. If Outlander doesn't fulfil your requirements as an historically accurate, buzz a minute romantic yarn then nothing will. Read on to the end of the series, I guarantee you won't regret it.

Summary: "you're reading that again?!
Review: My husband says that every time I pick up Outlander. This series is the only series I've ever bought, first in paperback and then in hardbound when the paperbacks wore out. I never tire of the dialogue. It's realistic and yet desriptive. But I think it is the details of Claire's experiences that makes the books seem alive and new to me every time I read them.

Summary: AMAZING BEYOND WORDS!!!
Review: This book goes beyond the classification of a novel to the label of the almost-too-real story woven by a true story teller. For a reader who avoids time-travel novels like the plague, it was a revelation. It is impossible not to be compelled by the bizarre triangle between Claire, Jamie (swoon - the oh-so-perfect, and oh-so-real hero), and Jonathan. In the end you a rooting for Jamie (and desperatley wishing his identical twin would come walking in the door) and can't bare to let him or any of the other characters go. You will still love the characters after the book is over and not hesitate in reaching for the next book in the series, even if it is three in the morning. Hurray for Gabaldon! Outlander kept me up all night from the moment i picked it up until the moment it was finished. This novel is amazing and worth every last page.

Summary: This is a book that tickled my soul!
Review: The first time I read Outlander I couldn't put it down. I was so engrossed I would read until 3:00 in the morning! I was fortunate that I didn't discover it until three of the books had been written, thus I could read them in succession. These are the only books, so far in my life, that I've read three times!

Summary: Can't put it down!
Review: I like to read in my spare time, but when a friend gave me this series to read, ALL of my time became spare time. I had many late nights of reading because I just had to see what would happen next. I think I am in LOVE with Jamie. Wow!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great escapist vacation reading
Review: I read 3/4 of Outlander on two flights and on a 3 hour layover in an airport! I could not put it down. It is exciting, romantic and the characters come alive. I rushed out and bought the rest of the series to find out how Claire and Jamie fared. I commend Ms. Gabaldon because despite the danger imminent in every chapter, I wanted to be Claire so I could experience the earth-shaking love she shares with her Highlander, and for once, it is nice having an intelligent, resourceful heroine.
