Summary: A TOTALLY FABULOUS & FUNNY DEBUT NOVEL....
Review: Anna Maxted has written a brilliant debut. I thought I would like this book as much as I loved Bridget Jones' Diary. It was better! This is my favorite kind of novel -- a modern day romance, comedy, drama, and tons of LAUGH OUT LOUD momments, more so than BJD. Helen Bradshaw is a character that women can relate to. I thought the character was developed greatly. The rest of the characters were all great. I really enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it to BJD fans..They won't be disappointed. I think that this book would make a great movie. Hint, hint...

Summary: a fun read
Review: This really wasn't my cup of tea. The book was a little bit hard to get involved in/ slow moving in the beginning. A cute story but each page had to be digested.

Summary: I'm still not over it!
Review: I loved this book. The character was so funny and realistic. It was a great read. If you liked books like Brigit Jones' Diary or Watermelon, you'll love this book. Anyone who's ever been single and couldn't get over a loser boyfriend will be able to relate to this book. And the tequila incident hits too close to home!

Summary: Could not put it down
Review: This book had me absolutely laughing out loud. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I didn't want it to end, and now I can't wait for another Anna Maxted book!

Summary: wow, i'm impressed
Review: When I first started this book, I just kind of picked it up in the bookstore and flipped through it, and I needed something to read, so I bought it. And to my delight I do not regret it. The first few chapters were a little slow, so I was a little bored with it, but soon it got so much better. It is hiarious, and I love Anna Maxted's writing style. It is bold and outrageously funny. This book is the only book that has made me laugh out loud. She does the greatest voice-overs...I wish she would write another one!

Summary: funny, funny, funny
Review: Wow, this book is one of the only books that have ever made me laugh out loud. It starts out kind of slow, so I was a little bored in the beginning, but by chapter 3, I was totally into it. I LOVE the way Anna Maxted does voice-overs. Her style is origanol and new, I love it!

Summary: Sad to be Getting Over it
Review: I have one more chapter to go. I really hate to end this book. I have really grown to love Helen and her dizzy friends Tina and Lizzy. I even feel close to Mom and her granny. When I picked the book up, I thought I would laugh (I did) but I also cried at the death of her father and how Helen dealt with the grief. I hope to read it again someday..I feel I have made a new friend in Helen. Anna.....please write more books like this. Loved it. :-)

Summary: Terrific and Funny
Review: Getting Over it is a fabulously funny novel and you'd have to be a complete sourpuss not to enjoy it. There were countless times as I read the novel that someone asked me what I was reading because I was laughing out loud. Anna Maxted has a tremendous talent and I look forward to reading anything else by her (hurry, please!). Getting Over It adds an additional, interesting layer over the typical humourous single woman in London story in that Helen, our heroine, must deal with the sudden death of her father and all of the complications that ensue (emotional problems, dealing with her mother, etc.) And yes, it is a romantic comedy, so we see her meet a guy, lose him, etc. All of Maxted's character's are terrific and entertaining. What really makes this book unique, however, is the humor. I highly recommend this book, but I warn you--don't read this in a crowd if you are prone to embarrassment, you won't be able to stop yourself from laughing out loud.

Summary: Absolutely hysterical!!!
Review: Just finished this book over the weekend and have to say that it was the funniest book I have read in a long time! "Bridget Jones" was excellent but had a lot of slapstick elements to it whereas "Getting Over It" was more realistic to me. I could so relate to Helen's life - her friends, her job, her cat (Fatboy - love him!) and her "man problems". I found myself more than a few times laughing so hard I couldn't breathe - that's high praise. If you enjoyed "Bridget Jones", run and get "Getting Over It" - you won't be disappointed.
