Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Not Just Another Bridget Jones Review: GETTING OVER IT is a hilarious debut novel. Helen Bradshaw, the protagonist, is one memorable character. The conversational tone makes this a quick read. Though you may want to linger over the zany mishaps-- especially the tequila incident! If you're looking for a delightful, endearing, 20-something narrative, GETTING OVER IT will keep you laughing from cover to cover.

Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: I actually laughed out loud throughout reading this book. I'm pretty sure that people on the plane I was on while reading thought I had lost my mind! This book has been compared to "Bridget Jones' Diary," which I enjoyed, but this had more of a storyline and was much funnier. Any woman who has been single and remembers what dating is like will smile when they read this novel.
Rating: Summary: Better than I expected Review: We all know you aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I must admit that my dislike for the cover kept me from reading this one for over a year. This was a pleasant surprise. Of the abundance of novels about young single women living in and around London (or New York or Dublin) lately this was one of the better ones with a fresh new spin. In addition to the relationship foibles other recent heroines have had, Helen Bradshow is dealing with the sudden death of her father and stepping into the caretaking role of her needy mother. I expected this book to be funny, and in the beginning it was. I laughed out loud three times within the first 100 pages. But the entire book was not so light and funny. Serious issues such as physical abuse, mental illness etc. were brought up and handled quite well. My best friend has recently lost her mother and many of the issues and behaviors covered in this book are very true to her experiences. Overall, I would (and have) highly recommed this book to others.
Rating: Summary: Better than Bridget Jones,...and I loved Bridget Jones Review: I didn't think anything would top the Bridget Jones books...but this did. It was absolutley one of the best, if not THE best, books that I have ever read. It was so incredibly funny while it told the story of a young woman coming to grips with a parent's death and becoming her mother's caretaker. This is something many of us have faced or will face in our lives, and it was totally refreshing to be able to read about someone going through the same things and the mix of emotions that go along with it. Also funny were the silly family dysfunctions everyone has. This also chronicles Helen's path to love and the bumps that go along with it. I absolutely loved it and I HIGHLY recommend ANYONE getting this book, particularly if you have ever had to face these problems in your life and if you are a fan of Bridget Jones. I hope the author reads this and if she does, PLEASE do a sequel!
Rating: Summary: She Got It So Right Review: This book reminded oh so vividly of the foolish choices I made in my twenties, especially as I tried to figure things out after my mother's death. It made me very happy to be looking at forty now! Anna Maxted is truely talented. This book made my laugh out loud, want to cry but most of all keep reading. It was a delight!
Rating: Summary: Funny and sad Review: This book is mostly about a 26 year old woman who is dealing with her father's death, with some social life thrown in. Some parts are very sad, some are quite funny. Worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Get Getting Over It Review: Anna Maxted is brilliant! This book is like reading my own life. Page after page of real life experiences that are hilarious!
Rating: Summary: Best British Import Yet!!! Review: I'm going to make this easy. This is the best book I've read in years, maybe ever. I was literally laughing out loud on practically every page and reading excerpts aloud to family and friends. If you loved Bridget Jones, you'll also love Helen Bradshaw. Take my advice and give this book a try.
Rating: Summary: Get out and buy it! Review: So FUNNY! Had me laughing out loud on many occasions...cant miss reading this one! GREAT!
