Summary: Cute!
Review: I was so excited to see this sequal on the shelves at my local bookstore, and I bought it immediately. This is another light hearted tale of Becky and her credit card blues. Luke tries to open up an office of his PR firm in New York, and he whisks Becky away with him. Of course, Becky can't get enough of the Big Apple's stores, and she goes right back into debt. There are some interesting plot twists in here- evil businessmen/women, intrigue and a slap-in-the-face disappointment.

I knew this was going to be a light book when I bought it, but I was surprised at just how light it ended up being. You knew Becky was going to get into shopping trouble, but all of her shopping sprees started to get a bit old by the middle of the book. The ending is definitely good and was a fresh surprise- I can't say anything more about that, but she ends up doing something I never would have thought of doing. I would have liked to have seen a few more plot lines more developed (like with Luke's mother) and less on the spending. I just think that I thought the first was best because it was new.

I really like Becky Bloomwood, and I wouldn't mind reading about her again. I just don't know where the series would go from here. But if you like Bridget-type books, you'll like this, too!

Summary: extremely entertaining but 'confessions' was better
Review: This book is a follow-up to 'Confessions of a Shopaholic', Sophie Kinsella's first novel about London T.V. Talk Show Host Becky Bloomwood.
It picks up a few months later, in which Becky has landed the great job and is debt free....or is she??
She is dating Luke Brandon, and he's getting ready to go on a trip to New York...and Becky's invited!! Prada, Bloomies, Saks 5th Ave, all those shops!!!!! SHOPPING!!
But can Becky keep her finances in check in the most alive city in the world?

-You'll have to read and find out!

(I do have to comment that I really didn't like the ending of this book. The book overall was extremely entertaining and Kinsella does a great job with her word use & played to the T with 'Confessions...', but after the event on page 292 ... everything seemed really bland and played out. It should have ended with the event.)

Summary: Almost as good as the original
Review: I absolutley loved the first Shopaholic book and in my review of it even said I would have liked it better had I known what all the shops in London referenced were. In Shopaholic takes Manhattan I got my wish.

In this, the second Shopaholic novel, our girl Becky Bloomwood seems to have gotten her act together. She has a financial segement on a morning news show, things are going great with her beau Luke and best of all she is out of financial trouble - for about the first chapter anyway. In subsequent chapters she accompanies Luke to New York City where he is trying to open a branch of his financial public relations firm and possibly to score herself a television job in the US. However, once she sees the shops - Prada, Bloomingdales, Saks and even the Guggenheim Museum store Becky is back off and running with her spending habits and it was pure joy to be with her again. She discovers the thrill of private sales, the joy of Sephora and the bliss of Barney's. Drinking to excess on a job interview, ignoring her creditors requests for payment and obsessive shopping win Becky a feature in a London tabloid that expose her as the financial fraud that she is. Being exposed ruins her chances of a financial career stateside, destroys her relationship with Luke and almost dashes his chances of opening a NYC branch of his company as well.

Becky returns to London dejected but not defeated. Always great under pressure she manages pay off her debts, keep Luke from losing his business completely and in the end she gets to keep Luke too. We think. The ending was left open enough to make readers wonder (and hope) if there is a third book in this series on the horizon.

A quick and entertaining read, this was the perfect companion for a my long Easter weekend at the beach. I didn't think it was as good as the original, but was definately alot of fun. I certainly hope there is more of Becky to come in the future.

Summary: Insperation for all Shopahollics
Review: I may possibly be biased because of being a native New Yorker, but I think this was even better than the first shopahollic. I was relating so much to Becky and laughing out loud at her antics. You will route for her all the way and be so inspired by the end. It gives any one who is down real hope.

Summary: Shopaholic Takes Manhattan
Review: I really enjoyed this book, almost as much as the first. The only thing that bothered me was that Becky did not seem to learn any lessons from her past mistakes. She got lucky with her last escapade & sure enough she got lucky again. A bot far fetched for your average person, but entertaining nonetheless. I also found the love story portion to be sweet & only wish there could have been more. I would recommend this book.

Summary: Great Beach Book
Review: It's a cute story and a quick read--a fun book to bring to the beach! The "shopaholic" is an amusing character with a great heart under all that designer clothing, which makes the read worthwhile as well as entertaining.

Summary: It's adorable
Review: But I didn't find it as funny as the first one. Maybe it's because I am not one for fashion and shopping ~~ so the excitement of all the shopping just whizzes over my head. But I do have to admit, it's adorable reading and I had a blast reading it in an afternoon!

Becky follows Luke to New York and while there, bought out the entire city (or so it seems) only to face problems with the creditors again ~~ and caused problems for Luke's new business endeavor. My favorite part of the whole book was the trip to the spa with Luke's mom ~~ it was something unreal and totally unexpected ~~ and funny.

I am looking forward to reading about Becky and Luke's preparations for the wedding ~~ being newly married that is something I can totally relate to!!! So I am hoping for a third book as well ~~ and hopefully, it'll be funnier than this one is!

(P.S. Nothing quite beats the first book ~~ now that was a fun take on shopping and romance!)

Summary: Pure Fun
Review: Loved it, loved it, loved it. This book is something we all need at times...a light hearted piece of fun. The ultimate escape/vacation book...especially for those of us who sometimes fall into the shopaholic category. I enjoyed spending time with Becky again. The included letters are a real treat...especially those to "Sweetie Smeathie"... that alone cracks me up!! Get it, read it, enjoy it!

Summary: Even better than the first!
Review: It's sick how much I can relate to this book! Buy, buy, buy for immediate gratification and then hide from the bills because it makes you sick to your stomach.

I normally don't care much for modern generation x fiction, but Kinsella's books come as a pleasant surprise. Let's hope for more sequels.

Summary: I'm a Becky Bloomwood-aholic...
Review: This book is just irresistable. Rebecca Bloomwood is a wonderful character, and most of us know her well. The book picks up nicely where the first novel leaves off, and I like the way Kinsella carefully connects the two. We are not forced to read repetitive explanations, but we are instead treated to an "insider" glance at Becky's sometimes charmed life. The protagonist is clever, witty, and a delight to follow. I especially enjoy the letters included throughout the novel- They are just hilarious and really add depth to the plot. (Remember "Finnish, Finnish, Finnish?") This is a great spring break read and a nice diversion from the typical "girl chases boy and mourns the fact that she's single" story. We feel Becky's pain!
