Rating: Summary: Nothing like the first! Review: I hate say how much this second novel let me down. The first "shopaholic", I truly enjoyed, perfect light hearted fun, and great cottage reading. Somewhat of a "shopaholic" myself, I found the first book to be hilariously enlightening. The sequel though, I found terribly predictable, boring, and the only thing that forced myself to finish it was the hope of a glimpse of fun to reveal itself, unfortunatley, I made it to end feeling it to be nothing more than a waste of my time. Wish I felt differently, I love an easy, fun read once in a while.
Rating: Summary: Charge It! You won't be sorry. Review: Like the earlier Shopaholic novel, this volume hilariously details the challenges, travails, and triumphs of the western world's ultimate shopping addict. It is at once fabulously funny fiction and supremely well-observed social commentary - in a league with Dorothy Samuels' riotous skewering of America's absurd obsession with "Reality-TV" and instant celebrity in that other current must-read, Filthy Rich. In all, another winner for Sophie Kinsella.
Rating: Summary: That is one fun and kicky mental illness!! Review: Beckly Bloomwood suffers from obsesssive compulsive disorder. She is addicted to impulse buying the way some are addicted to narcotics. She hides the extent of her shopping to her loved ones. Her shopping has caused her financial problems. She can't stop after a little shopping...you get the idea. Except that for the intents and purposes of this book, it's way to spree-shop on all those lux brands vicariously. Like reading about food without gaining an ounce! The actual sadness of mental illness doesn't come into play here because that would be such a downer, woudn't it. No, Becky is so cute and charming and winsome about her addiction that lucky breaks save her day...again! Wow. What luck. It's like having anorexia just to the extent where you're really, really thin, but not to the extent that your bones crumble and your body starts eating itself.
Rating: Summary: There is a little bit of Becky in all of us... Review: I loved this book even more than the first. I spent the whole day enjoying this fun read with an occasional cup of tea! I love the romance she explores with Luke and the relationships she has with her friends. I only hope that Sophie Kinsella is working on a follow-up book. I want to follow Becky more!
Rating: Summary: Shopaholic Review: I enjoyed this book more than the first one. It's the kind of book you read to relax and to enjoy. It's an uplifting book for those shopaholics and if you look at it in another perspective-the grass is greener on the other side...things will always get better...only time will tell. It's a fun and enjoyable book. I recommend it to all.
Rating: Summary: Such a cute book! Review: If you've read the first one, "Confessions of a Shopaholic" then you definetly have to read this one! I read the first one in about 4 days (while on vacation), and I was hooked! I read this one in 2 days, and I loved it even more than the first! Becky Bloomwood is cute, funny, and crazy! I love the way the author writes of her, and can tell that the author has put alot of heart into her book. You just want to laugh, cry and scream along with the characters, and when you are done, you will wish for more, just like I did!
Rating: Summary: Fabbity Fab Fab Review: This sequel to Confessions of a Shopaholic is just as good as the first one. While I have a something of a softspot for British fiction, this is really a well written book. While the subject matter may prove to be trivial, it gets deeper as the main character's (whose name I unfortunately forget) troubles worsen. I started this while I was something in a slump. I couldn't stay with any book longer then about 30 or so pages, but this one I read in about a day I liked it so much. I thought the ending was positively the best part about the whole thing. At first when I thought it was going to end one way I got a little disappointed that Sophie Kinsella had made me like a character so much, only to make me resent them at the end, but once I completely finished it I realized she had done no such thing. Ok this may sound confusing, but go read this book. Just make sure you read the first one before you do.
Rating: Summary: Re-run, but good Review: If you loved "Confessions of a Shopaholic", you will love this book. It is virtually a re-run of Sophie Kinsella's previous book, but great none the less. It is light, entertaining and downright funny. Read "Confessions" first, then buy this (or check it out at the library if you have overdone your own shopping). You won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: what unbelievable fun Review: although the newness is gone after her first book...this is such a fun book. Although a light read, its just puts a smile on your face. I have told all my friends about it. Being a new yorker and have a finity for clothes...this is the best beach read I could ever think of (and I read it in winter!). run and get it if you want to smile.
Rating: Summary: Great Weekend Book to Enjoy Review: Even though I do not traditionally read British authors, this book I felt to be very entertaining. It is well written with the main character being involved throughout the book. It is a book that many people can relate to beginning years of their adult life.
