Rating: Summary: Not Bad Review: This book is light and funny. Megan McCafferty had done a great job!
Rating: Summary: My New Favorite Book Review: This is now in the number one spot on my top ten book list! I LOVE this book. I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful this book is. Seriously, evey teen girl has got to read this!
Rating: Summary: how can u say ANY book is really BAD? Review: this book was really actually interesting,at times. but other points i found myself thinking "how can someone actually think like that?" which completely diminished the morality and infatuation for the book. but come on. i won't say it was bad. really any book can't be bad. i mean come on, have you actually ever tried to write a 200 page book? have you ever tried to write a book at all? anything longer than 100 pages that is somewhat infatuating must get some credit. so really this book was at the top of a short list of books i probably would end up skipping parts of.
Rating: Summary: The best book ever!!! Review: This book was amazing. i could really relate to the character. I recomend this book to teens who are not really popular among thier groups of friend because i think you could really relate to her.
Rating: Summary: Managing to keep hope in her life Review: Hope, who is Jessica's best friend, the only one who really understands her, has moved away. No one seems to be able to understand why Jessica is making such a big deal out of Hope's move. Among the many challenges Jessica faces is one fairly consistent, annoying one: She can't sleep at night. So, Jessica writes in a journal which sometimes helps her to get some rest from her highly active brain. The journal is filled with the ups and downs of Jessica's life: How she deals with so-called friends, boyfriend-wanna-be's, her constant thoughts that run faster than she does at track competitions, and her misery of missing her best friend. Despite the altered friendship that Jessica has with Hope (they still keep in touch via e-mail and phone calls), Jessica manages to find a new hope for herself as she follows her heart, shows her real feelings, tries new things, makes mistakes and lives to tell about it, and learns that there are other people out there that she can call "friend." A very engrossing read that I found difficult to step away from and was sorry to finish.
Rating: Summary: Dazzling Display of Writing Talent Review: You will shockingly discover that you have a best friend you didn't know existed. I instantly related to Jessica and I truly feel this is the most well-done book I have ever read. It's not at all predictable, especially with someone like Marcus Flutie involved, ( you'll find out who he is, later once you read it.) In addition, there were characters that are similar to people I have to tolerate daily and would much rather be with my true best friend, wherever he or she may be, who understands me better than these people I go to school with and will never be in contact with after high school. Jessica feels deprived of understanding and lots of people can say the same thing, especially with parents involved that are completely oblivious ( but think they are on the same wavelength), but as Jessica found, there are people out there like you, that you have chemistry with, but it's just finding them that can be difficult and everyone can say they have dealt with loss as she did with her best friend Hope when she moved. The best aspect of this book, was not only the plot but the humorous elements that make you just smile because Megan uses hilarious ways to describe even the simplest of things. This completely adds to the ingredients of a great book. A MUST read!
Rating: Summary: Sloppy Firsts- Can't We All Relate? Review: Sloppy Firsts is the best book about the life of a high school girl that I have ever read. This book takes you inside the complicated world of Jessica (Notso) Darling. When you read this book, you find yourself intertwined into Jessica's life. I may not have been through the exact expierences as Jessica, but I can completely relate to most. From boys to bitchy friends, we've been through it all which is why I incourage anyone to read this exact depiction of high school life as a girl.
Rating: Summary: Whip-smart, sweet and sad Review: I'm a guy, and I can say that SLOPPY FIRSTS is by no means a piece of "chick fic" fluff. The book is a simple, honest, and beautifully rendered portrait of what it's like to be young, and all the things that go with it -- which usually means being lonely, pissed off and scared. I'm in college now. I'm free, productive and happy. But I remember what it's like to know you're surrounded by hypocrites, yet feel like a phoney yourself; to bear talent like a curse and fantasize about the most random, absurd people. My school (like Jessica's) was even called PHS. And so, a tiny tribute from one writer to another: Megan McCafferty doesn't pander to anyone. She tells it like it is, and she never offers us a simplified view of things. We never know what will come next. Such is life. Read this book.
Rating: Summary: Sloppy Firsts: A Novel Review: This is the best book i've read since i got too old for the regular pre-teen books etc. It really relates to teenage girls that are NOT 5 ft 9 and perfect. Those who don't consider their "crush" to be someone who they hang out with everyday, and who likes them back. I just wanted to give a good rating, because i already advise all my friends to read it, i think it should be recognized by people who are interested in reading.
Rating: Summary: Welcome to the world of Jessica Darling. Review: Jessica Darling is devestated when her best friend Hope moves away. Worried that she will be an outcast at her school and have no friends and no life. Well that doesn't her worry her so much, but being without her best friend makes her feel down. Jessica is an smart girl who runs track. She hangs out with Bridget who she has known since they were children. Bridget hangs out with Sara who is the girl who has everything and Manda who is the girl who trys to get everything from boys that she can. Jessica writes in her diary all the stuff that goes on her life that she wishes she could tell Hope but can't. From her friendship with the Clueless Crew, Hy the New York girl who comes into her life like a breeze and leaves like one too. But the one and only thing Jessica can't tell Hope is her friendship with Marcius Flutie who Hope can't stand. Jessica's life is that of a typical teenage who is going thru high school and learning things as she goes along. This is a great first novel by this author and I hope she writes more about Jessica Darling and her life and adventures.
