Rating: Summary: very good Review: This book is very good, i was suprised to enjoy it so much because it was for school. The ending is kinda a letdown but all in all it was great. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good laugh.
Rating: Summary: Sloppy Firsts Review: I don't read a whole lot, but my mom made me buy a couple books, so I did and Sloppy Firsts was one of them. It was one of the best books I have ever read, once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down, it only took me 3 days to read it. It has the perfect mixture of humor and serious things which is also humerous. It is filled with issues that real teenage girls have to deal with and reading about how Jessica Darling deals with them makes laugh. There are the usual boy issues, friend issues, parent issues, school issues and even period issues. It is really something I would recommend to any teenage girl because it will really keep you entertained as you read it.
Rating: Summary: Gamma Girls Best Friend Review: For anyone who has ever been where Jessica is, on the outskirts of the Upper Crust (popular clique), this book is reminicent of the best times and worst times you had in high school. This book won't really make you question things about your life, but it sure will give you funny insight into the lives of others. I can't give it five stars, because it's not among the classics, but this was an absolute gem of a book. Jessica is at a point in her life that most of us have been through, so the things she does, both positive and negative, are things that have run through our minds at one point or another. The decisions she makes, however much the reader disagrees with them because of a gift called foresight, are flawed and beautiful in much the same way that real life is both complex and intriguing. I recommend this book to older teenage girls who can really relate to this story.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK!! Review: I think this book was great. I stayed up all night so I could finish it. I think that Jess shouldn't have left Marcus like that just because she assumes that he's trying to do what he's doing. She never let him explain. I hope Megan McCafferty will continue to write about what's going on in her next book. Keep up the great work!!
Rating: Summary: best book! Review: This book was a great book and is hard to forget! I loved the way that it wasnt your normal teenage book and was really tellin how teenage life really is!
Rating: Summary: Where did the ending go? Review: I laughed, I cryed, and I got excited a few times.I really enjoyed this book, I even stayed up till 8am so I could finish it. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. Marcus did nothing wrong, and she wouldn't let him explain.
Rating: Summary: Great book... wow what a great title for my review... Review: This book is great. Its amazing reading about how the "other side" (the popular kids) viewed high school. As I long suspected they were even more insecure than the weirdos. At any rate, this is one of the most true to life high school books I have ever read. It avoids all of the trite cliches and presents nuanced charachters much like people that I actually knew in high school... which is kind of weird because I guess that means that I know the ending.I'm 21 years old and as I look back on high school I can see all of the ups and downs represented here. Its also a very funny book but in the way that this stuff could totally happen to you. I think some of it did happen to me. I'm totally hooked and I can't wait til book #2.
Rating: Summary: Megan McCafferty has undescribable talent! Review: If I could recomend one book it would be SLOPY FIRSTS. Megan McCafferty has a talent of making you be very emotionaly envolved with the charecters in this book. She has a great gift for writing and is definitly on my favorite authors list. YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!!! Get it. It is SO realistic. Me and all of my friends read this togeather and laughed as it mirrored us in diffrent ways.
Rating: Summary: Finally a Teen Read with a Brain Review: As a young adult book seller I see and read alot of books aimed at young women, and this is the best book to come around in a while. Jessica is the first female protaginst that has half a brain and uses it. The reader sees her at her best and at her worst and sometimes we aren't on her side. Jessica is complex and radiant and McCafferty's style is flawless. This is an awesome read about life and love that every girl, or woman, should pick up.
Rating: Summary: Finally, a novel about high school that's realistic! Review: Okay, okay, so it's not intellectual like reading a classic, but this novel is one of the most fun things I have ever read. So many books about high school are just, "Susy goes to the prom," but this one actually paints a realistic portrait of what high-school is like. The narrator, Jessica, is smart and witty, which makes the book interesting and the people around her really make you understand what we teenagers go through these days! I'm in ninth grade, and after I bought my copy, I lent it to a friend, who lent it to her 12th grade sister, her lent it to her friend... Obviously, this entertaining delight is NOT TO BE MISSED for any high schooler!
