Review: i absolutley loved this book! The way that the author writes about high school is so truthful! being a junior in high school i found myself amazed by how close the author was when talking about high school! the main character says everything that i know i always think but am too afraid to say! i loved this book and am looking forward to more from the author.

Summary: Every high school girl should read this book
Review: This book was so wonderful. It's no Hemmingway or Salinger, but it's definatly a light-hearted piece of literature that every high school girl should read and will love. It's funny, a quick read, and every moment is enjoyable. I couldn't put this book down and it took me about two days to read. I loved the main character and her sense of humor and I could relate to her in so many different ways. This book helped me look at my high school social life in a more positive way and helped me enjoy life in general a little bit more. I'm looking forward to Megan McCafferty's follow-up novel, it's bound to be just as good as the first.

The book is in a form of diaries and letters and the main character always expresses her opinion. Read this book or you'll be sorry!

Summary: Excellent, I couldn't put it down, seriously
Review: I thought this was an excellent book, being a teenager but older than Jessica I could relate with her relationships and her feelings. The chemistry between the 2 character was wonderful. I loved it and can't wait for the new one.

Summary: More Please
Review: I absolutely loved this book. I actually picked it up because of the cover...very cute. As soon as I read the inside I couldn't wait to start reading it. The whole time, I felt really familiar with Jessica. I mean, what teenage girl doesn't deal with that stuff. I'd read it before I went to bed and would stay up late trying find the ending of the good part, but there was none. The ending of the book was great and left me wanting more. I NEED to know what happens between her and Marcus! Hopefully there is a sequel in the process!

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: After reading so mnay excellent reviews on this book, I bought it for my good friend as a birthday present. She read the book in a very short time and lent it to me to read too. I read the book straight through in only 3 hours because I just couldn't put it down! Jessica Darling is smart and witty, but doesn't take (...) from anyone. The author presented Jessica's life from a very ironic and humorous point-of-view. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Summary: No punches pulled in this examination of high school culture
Review: ...

When Jessica's best friend moves away, Jess pledges to write to Hope once a month, call once a week, and email or IM daily. Between diary entries and the monthly letter, readers get a glimpse into the life of a nonconformist teen as she struggles through the daily grind of the high school social and academic scenes. Additional stress is brought on by the impending marriage of her too-perfect sister; Jess is a bridesmaid, and the family is pressuring her to get a date for the wedding. If only Hope were here to share this all.
This first novel delves into the territory of relationships, from simple best friend pacts to complex family interactions in a house where the death of the only son is never mentioned. Jessica staves off the boy next door (who is never so attractive as when he finally becomes a stud and starts dating other girls) and engages in a cat and mouse game with the school's biggest druggie.
McCafferty doesn't pull any punches and liberally sprinkles the f-word throughout her novel to season it as she describes a crushes from a nerds a cute drunken wedding guest, and speculations about sex. Ultimately, she exposes the hurt kids do to themselves and to one another, and showcases their resilience alongside their destruction.
McCafferty has written an achingly honest portrayal of what it is like to be a teen. Readers will shudder with their own memories as McCafferty brings is all back to them: having to ask permission to pee, feeling disgusted with the administration, and believing you can change the world.
While the language and situations aren't anything today's high school students are not already hearing and seeing in the hallways, more conservative libraries may shelve this one in the adult area, but the appealing cover will guarantee that this story gets into the hands of the right readers.

Summary: Good inspiration for those who know what teenage life is
Review: Ok. I am 16, and my name is Jessica. Kinda wierd. Well this girl is basically the portrayal of my life even though Megan McCafferty has no clue who I am. I am saying that this book put me at ease on the fact that i am not the only one in the world feeling what i am feeling. It was very good and i read it in two days and got in trouble on numerous occasions at school for reading during class. Who knew? Jessica Darling has lost a friend who moved away and she has a rough time coping with it. If you want someone to relate to and a good boosting laugh, Sloppy Firsts" is what you need.
