Summary: One of my favorite books of the year thus far!
Review: I loved this book!! Of all my summer reads this is by far one of my favorites. Jodi Picoult captures teenage angst perfectly. This was my first book by Ms. Picoult but definitely not my last. The author's writing style enabled me to know and understand each character's personality and view point. Once I began this book I couldn't put it down and was dissapointed when it came to a close.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent for leisurely reading!
Review: I read Jodi Picoult's "The Pact" only a couple of months ago, and I must say that it is my favorite of the most current literature out there. I loved the story line because I could vividly see the entire plot being played out in my mind. While I do not think it is destined to be a classic, I do think it is a good book worth reading.

Summary: engaging, well written, with unnecessary profanity.
Review: OK, sure, a whole string of fives and then comes my three. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dogging the book in terms of content, writing, or flow, but I do have a problem with the f-word or similarly offensive words being used on every other page. This could have been a great book if the author didn't virtually jab the reader in the side with a branding iron by slapping the reader an unnecessary use of profanity. The end result is the reader attempts to relax, and enjoy the book, but just when that begins to happen....... *smack* out of nowhere there's another one. It's enough to put the reader on edge, and it does. Please subtract two stars for me. I really wish I could have given this book full marks. It cudda been great.

Summary: a legal thriller and love story combined
Review: Jodi Picoult's sensitivity to her characters has been a staple of her writing in her previous books but this book poignantly portrayed the emotional turmoil two close families find themselves in when their children are engaged in a suicide pact. Couple this with the page turner quality of the courtroom action and you have an unforgetable novel.

Summary: a credible tale incredibly told
Review: this book was recommended to me by a valued penpal. it was my first introduction to jodi picoult and, i am pleased to say, will not be my last. kudos for a finely-wrought tale whose many themes are handled with panache and a skill that borders on the frightening.

Summary: A Remarkable Page Turner
Review: Love stories are normally not my type of reading, but I could not put this down. I was at the shore with a few of my friends and did not even want to talk...that's all I wanted to do was read. Eventually my friends shut up because they couldn't wait to hear what happened. Excellent reading and I can't wait to pick up another Jodi Picoult book.

Summary: couldn't put it down!
Review: Ms Picoult's characters are so real, you feel as if you had made new friends and don't want to loose them. One of those books that you can't wait to finish but then you really don't want it to end!

Summary: This book left an everlasting effect on my life
Review: This is the first and only review I have ever written and it is because this book so deeply impacted my life. I have never read such a well written, heart-warming, tragedy in my life and I do not think I will ever be the same. Jodi Picoult allows the reader to become one with her characters and she makes each scene come alive with her words. As I read each page I wondered what would happen next and I was unable to put the book down from the instance I picked it up. I have not stopped talking about this book since I read it and I have not been able to enjoy another book since I finshed it. I have become an annoyance to everyone I know because all I do is talk about the book and go on and on how everyone must read this book! I have loved books in the past, but I have never been so deeply moved by a book, like I was with this. I salute anyone who picks up this book because it will forever change the quality of books to be read in the future.

Summary: A great read...it just draws you into the characters lives!
Review: I thought that the way the author layed the story out for the reader was genius. She pulls the past together with the present, and makes the story complete by telling the lives of these two lovers from the day they are born to present day. I just thought that it was brillantly written. I recomend it to all of my friends...it definatly fits the cliche of a "must read"!

Summary: CAN YOU EVER LOVE SOMEONE TOO MUCH???
Review: I found this book to be extraordinary. Yes it was Romeo and Juliet. Yes it was Rose and Jack. Yet Chris and Em, the two starcrossed lovers, were very different than any other characters I have ever encountered.

Thrown together at childhood, next door neighbors for life, the story that enfolds finds them destined to be together. There is no other word to describe it. Everyone wanted it to be that way from day one or did they?? They question resounds throughout the entire book. It brings the reader back to their teenage days when the thought of losing someone was more than you could bear. Of course it is. They have no history yet of dealing with life's traumas so loss is unimaginable.

This is a book that I would not have normally picked out in the store. It was recommended to me by others on the internet and I'm so glad I took their advice. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give it a 9 1/2.
