Rating: Summary: One of the best adult novels ever! Review: This was the first adult novel I have ever read by Judy Blume and I must say it is one of the best ever written. This story reminded me of growing up and exploring life and sex. It gave a realistic look on life instead of the normal everything is always great look at life. I would love to see another book like this one. I could not put it down!
Rating: Summary: a fast read. kept my attention Review: a good book. a very fast read. it kept my attention and I read it in less than 2 days. The ending was a little off, but it is open for Judy Blume to right a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Too much sex Review: This book involves way too much sex. I would not want anyone under 18 to even read it! In this day and age with HIV and AIDS and all the other horribly infectious diseases out there we should try to be moving AWAY from teens and sex. They should not be encouraged in any way. At least Judy Blume mentions comdoms....All in all, this novel depicts sex as the only thing that keeps people together (Vix and Bru) and I find that outrageous.
Rating: Summary: I hated this book! Review: This was a terrible book. I wish I had the option of 0 stars. Usually I pass along books that I read to friends or family members. I had to throw this one in the garbage because I was too embarrassed to admit that I read it. There are so many great books out there and I'm kind of angry that I wasted my time reading this shallow account of "friendship."
Rating: Summary: Two friends become as close as sisters Review: I was excited to read this book thinking it was an adult novel. I am in my thirties and I thought this novel would be ideal for 16-20 year olds. I think late adolescents would enjoy reading about first time sexual relations. But, I needed more. The characters were shallow. Although I did finish the book and did talk about it to others, so Judy did that much for me.
Rating: Summary: Best book this Summer! Review: I too loved Judy Blume as a teen and can't wait to get my hands on more of her adult novels. I cried and laughed. I thought the ending was perfect! I couldn't put the book down and finsihed it in a week (for a mother of two that is not any easy task) Can't wait to read more of Judy Blume stuff!! Great birthday gifts for Moms and friends.
Rating: Summary: OK Review: I prefer books with a little more sophisticated romance level than Blume offers. Novels like The Triumph and the Glory are far more fulfilling a read. But I often read Blume's stuff anyway even though I vow I never will again, she DOES have the ability to keep you turning the page. If you're 14, or just want some light diversion.
Rating: Summary: Perfect Summer Reading Review: I went to the store looking for a cute, summer story that would keep me entertained on the beach. The novel never made it that far. Once I started the novel, it was impossible to put it down, even if it was well past midnight. I recommend this book to anyone who was ever a tennage girl or is in the midst of that stage. It is the perfect Summer book!!
Rating: Summary: A great summertime read Review: This was a great summer time read for me. Once I got started I couldn't put the book down. The relationship between these two girls was believeable. I think we can all think back to that coming of age time and remember how it was, developing and being a little obsessed by it, and boys, is there really anything else when you're a young teen and it's summertime. I totally enjoyed this story. My fifteen year old daughter read it also and loved it. Madelyn Robinson
Rating: Summary: A "no brainer", perfect for the beach. Review: If your looking for an easy read this is perfect. The characters aren't too uninique, but who wants to think hard in the summer sun. We never learn much about Caitlain which is too bad.
