Rating: Summary: All Cussler fans MUST get this book!!!!!!! Review: I LOVE Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels! The hero, Dirk Pitt, is so cool! Sometimes though I have to admit that Cussler does go way out there sometimes. And to all the people who think that his plots are unbelieveable all I have to say is "HAVE A LITTLE IMAGINATION!!" The action is non stop and the plot is intriguing! The main character isn't your average, boring, perfect, rich guy. Dirk Pitt's got attitude, smarts, and a cunning mind!! This is one of my FAVORITE books!!
Rating: Summary: Cussler does it again! Another winner! Review: What can you say? Absolutely brilliant, and thoroughly entertaining. From the prologue, set in 1856, right up to the year 2000 with Arthur Dorsett's deadly mining operations that make the slavery in the mines in 'Sahara' look like a slacker's paradise . . . add to that an acoustic plague from ocean sounding devices to seek out valuable minerals and a conspiracy to kill the world's diamond market for good, and lo and behold, it's up to Dirk Pitt to stop him. Despite two goofs(a geographic one - the Pacific lies between Australia and South America when going east from the Indian Ocean; also Hong Kong was handed back to the Chinese in 1997, not 1996, but we'll let them pass), the story is of Clive's usual brilliance! The variety of locations, especially Australia and New Zealand and further south added to the interest, the technicalities are explained in such a way that anypne can understand them and the characters once again are superbly crafted, especially Maeve Fletcher. Once again, Clive Cussler makes a cameo appearance, and why not indeed. Read this book now, you won't be disappointed. An ideal introduction to Clive Cussler for those unfamiliar to his work, and definitely one of his very best.
Rating: Summary: Way Good Review: Clive is one of my FAVORITE authors so when Shock Wave came out I went directly to the library until I found it, and when Idid I checked out both the paper-back and the audio book. Needless to say Dirk Pitt was npt to disapoint me in the book. It is one of my all time favoites. I strongly suggest that all read this book post-hast, it is very enlightening and enjoyable, you won't be disapointed.
Rating: Summary: Lights, Camera, Action! Review: Clive Cussler's "Shock Wave" will hopefully, one day, be viewed in all its glory on the big screen. Even though the movie has yet to be made, the visuals still dancing around in my head are as clear as if I just walked out of the theater. I believe this is what makes a great book. Clive Cussler has an amazing ability to make his characters three dimensional. I not only read the book, but I felt the emotions, heard the sounds and believed the story-line. For those of you looking for a good book for the summmer, this is it. Dirk Pitt is a "human" James Bond. He does not stand behind a veil of perfection, but lives each day as if it were his last. (Which in most cases is true) He loves, not lusts, he reacts out of necessity, not out of machoism, but he always puts on a good show. While the story is ficticious, you will find some of the "very ficticious" elements bordering on fairy-tale. This does not distract from the book but only adds to it. Like lores from the sea, this lore takes its literary-license. I guarantee, however, you won't want it any other way. So pick the day or days when you need to escape and enter the world of Dirk Pitt and his amazing cast of characters. If you are faint of heart, I just don't recommend reading this at sea!
Rating: Summary: A book you can't put down! Review: This book is great. The scenarios are a bit unreal, but the characters draw you in and you want it to be possible. Dirk is the modern day night in shining armor.
Rating: Summary: This was an exelent book. Review: Dear Mr. Cussler I have read many of your books and I'm a big fan. Every one in my family loves your books and that's why I believe that one of your novels should be made into a movie. I think that every one would want to see it. Even my dad loves your books and believes the same thing I do. If you got a really good director I think that this movie could make millions and make you world renowned(more than you are right now). I think a good director would be Steven Spielberg because he directed Indiana Jones and that was alot like your books except yours are more sophisticated and that would atract a larger audience. The best Dirk Pitt I think you could get would be Alec Baldwin, though he doesn't look exactly like him but it would be close enough. A great Al Giordino would be Sylvester Stalone; he matches it to a T. Sean Connery would make a good Admiral. He might not be red haired but he does have a beard, is of age, and is in great shape. With people like these you couldn't help but make money.
Rating: Summary: A truly unbelieveable tale! Review: I'm still wondering why I continued to read this book! I have to admit to skimming the "worst" parts, and I guess I kept thinking that it would get better. It didn't! The situations are beyond realistic fiction and yet not original enough to be science fiction. The characters are so unreal that I kept saying, "Give me a break!" The sole redeeming factor was the occasional scientific information, but the way that was inserted into the story - particularly the diaglogue - made it less interesting. My first and last Cussler book! Florence Lesko
Rating: Summary: Dirk is cool Review: This book has it all. Adventure, romance, humor, and heck, it's even got information about the diamond and gem markets. This is my first Dirk Pitt book and it will not be my last. Dirk is the closest thing to James Bond that I've seen. Even the recent Bond books. Dirk is cool and that's all there is to it. If you like great adventure and action then this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: Too much Pitt Review: I have read every Cussler book to date (shockwave release date that is) and Pitt has become an "accident or disaster waiting to happen" There's far too many life threatening events where sheer will to survive saves the day. The inventiveness in overcoming problems is typical Pitt, and easily acceptable from the character we all came to know. The story line is pretty well done and realistic in light of the fact that some "Precious stones" are truly NOT rare. Nice touch!
Rating: Summary: Dirk Pitt's latest and greatest Review: This was a very good Clive Cussler novel, as good as Inca Gold, whiich, in my opinion is one of my faorite books. Cussler keeps you on he edge of your seat, and as always, the Miraculus Pitt always survives. It did not stick to the same old "one upon a time storyline"were all the good guys destoy the bad guys evil plans send them to jail and ilve happliy every after, as some of the main good guys die. This book is highly reomended on my list.
