Rating: Summary: Great First Book to the Series Review: I read the author's note that "The Bodyguard" is the first book in the Bodyguard series featuring protection specialist Natasha Chamberlain. This is a great start - an introduction to all sorts of quirky characters hovering around the quirkiest of all: Natasha. Counterbalancing this zaniness is her boss (and the man she has had a crush on for 3 years), Jonce Striker. Striker owns the investigative firm Natasha works for and is used to issuing orders and being obeyed. He quickly finds that Natasha has a chip on her shoulders and her impulsivity constantly jeopardizes her efforts to guard Roger, while driving Striker nuts. Pit and Bigun, Natasha's bodyguard partners, are a little slow on the uptake and constantly find themselves in the middle of some zany situation involving Natasha. Natasha's mom, Stevie, is a great character - a woman going through perimenopause who is making severe changes in her life, which her daughter does not like. Roger is just wonderful - a sweet man who falls in love with Natasha and never questions her overzealous actions to protect him. Funny book. I can't wait to read number two in the series.
Rating: Summary: Just Grand! Review: I read this book in one day and loved it all the way through. Natasha Chamberalin is young, beautiful, and zany and approaches life "full-speed ahead". She's independent, gutsy, and not afraid to stand up to her boss, Jonce Striker, a man whose mysterious background and personality others find intimidating. Natasha reluctantly agrees to accept the bodyguard position, but once she begins to guard Roger, a reclusive millionaire, she charges ahead with zest. Along the way, she manages to involve herself and Roger in side-splitting, laugh-out-loud situations. Readers who love books by Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, Linda Howard and others of this genre will love French. Her style is wonderfully fresh and comedic, and her ability to move the story forward at a quick pace while keeping her reader entertained is fabulous. This author is on my must-read list. Cool read!
Rating: Summary: I'm Still Laughing Review: I really hope Ms. French turns this into a series. Natasha Chamberlain is the South's equivalent to Stephanie Plum or Kinsey Milhone. Natasha is wacky, impulsive, and gutsy. In her efforts to guard multimillionaire Roger Valentine, she tends to be overzealous and manages to keep getting into trouble, but her intent is good. Jonce Striker is a man used to giving orders and being obeyed. Along comes Natasha, who has a will of her own and intends to protect Roger, even if it means breaking a few rules and driving Striker crazy with her antics. Striker at first finds her amusing, then frustrating, and finally appealing. When the two connect, sparks fly. The Southern locale and dialogue are perfect. If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. It's got it all: laugh-out-loud comedy, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and romance. I enjoyed it immensely.
Rating: Summary: Oh, yeah! Review: I'm a huge Evanovich fan, so ordered this one since it's been compared to her series. And all I've got to say is, oh, yeah! This is a fun read. Natasha Chamberlain is impulsive, explosive, and one hell of an athlete. A woman who attacks life with a vengeance and pity the fool who gets in her way. Although she is at first reluctant to guard Roger, it doesn't take Natasha long to realize she's finally found her niche in life. Her boss, Jonce Striker, is a man of strong personality and build who is used to being the man in control until feisty Natasha comes along and upsets his applecart. Then the fun starts! So glad to read this is going to be a series. I love this book and this author's style. I look forward to reading her other books, as well as the series as it develops.
Rating: Summary: So Funny Review: I've been tracking this author and ordered THE BODYGUARD as soon as I saw it listed. This is the best one yet by Ms. French. The chemistry between Natasha and Striker is such fun to read. Natasha is feisty and not afraid to go up against her boss, Striker, a man of intimidating size and personality. The chapter where the two tangle on the exercise mats is hilarious. So is the one where Natasha gets hit on at the sports bar and thwarts the extortionist's attempt to take money from Roger. And the chapter where Natasha takes on a guy who beats his dog. And the one where Natasha thinks two guys in a Beamer are following them. And ... I could go on and on. Roger is a great character who transitions from a nerd into a confident man, with Natasha's help. The crush he has on Natasha is sweet. Natasha's two bodyguard friends, Pit and Bigun, are dense enough to be funny. I love the dude and dudette thing with Bigun. I would love to see this become a series. Natasha's my hero!
Rating: Summary: Call Me a Fan! Review: I've been tracking this author and was pleased to see she had another book out. And gosh, I was not disappointed. This is her best yet. I love the concept - a bungling female bodyguard. Natasha is zany as heck and the situations she manages to get heself into are hilarious. It's so funny the way she manages to get under the skin of her boss, Striker, a man she's had a crush on for 3 years. Pit and Bigun were great characters and the perfect balance for Natasha. The real killer was a complete surprise - wasn't expecting it at all. My favorite chapter is the one where Natasha and Striker are musing about the killer and Natasha keeps distracting herself by imagining Striker's body doing things with her own. If you like comedy mixed with romance mixed with mystery and suspense, try this one. Ms. French has proven herself to be in the same league as the big-guys: Evanovich, Grafton, Howard, and Graham, to name a few.
Rating: Summary: Fun romp Review: I've read this author's books out of order, starting with "Chasing Demons" and am thrilled with this writer. Two of her four are dark and full of suspense, while the other two are funny as hell, abounding with off-the-wall characters and hilarious chapters. "The Bodyguard" introduces Natasha Chamberlain, an organized, efficient office manager whose goal is to become an investigator for her firm, owned by Jonce Striker, a man of vast stature and dominating personality, who Natasha secretly wants to "climb like a tree." Natasha reluctantly agrees to act as bodyguard to millionaire Roger Valentine with the condition this will help her efforts to become an investigator. When she realizes she has been tricked into playing Roger's bodyguard/girlfriend for one evening, she gets Roger to agree for her to stay on as his bodyguard during the investigation into who is trying to extort money from him. Roger is a wonderfully sweet character who blooms under the care of Natasha and her two colleagues, Pit and Bigun. Throughout the book, Roger transforms from a reclusive computer nerd to a man willing to meet the world and what awaits him. Pit and Bigun are fun characters - dense but tough, who constantly find themselves at the wrong end of Natasha's pranks. Jonce Striker is masculinity personified, a man used to doling out orders until Natasha comes under his supervision and turns his whole world upside down. Natasha's mom, Stevie, is one of the best characters in the book. A woman who undergoes a transformation, leaving her Ms. Susie Homemaker persona behind, to Natasha's detriment. I guarantee you will have fun with this book. I love the characters and the chemistry between Natasha and Striker, the relationship Natasha has with her mom, and the one that develops between her and Roger. I'm already anxious to read the next in the series.
Rating: Summary: Delightful, Entertaining and Absorbing Mystery! Review: If the reader is in the mood for a delightfully, entertaining, absorbing mystery, The Bodyguard by Christy Tillery French is a must read! Right from the first page, the plot moves into a series of interesting, attention-holding events involving independent, high-spirited Natasha, a "would-be" bodyguard, bumbling her way through continuous mishaps in an ever-growing, complicated plot with twists and turns sure to hold readers glued to their seats. Natasha's sense of humor, her fierce determination to succeed even while experiencing defeat, and her charming femininity, endear her to readers. Other characters in The Bodyguard ring true to life. Their interactions with one another, their dialogue, and their authenticity make them folks we understand and enjoy. We experience with them the same gamut of emotions they feel as they face their conflicts and difficulties. A witty, humorous, delightfully entertaining light mystery by a writer whose forte is this special genre. The Bodyguard promises a rich and fulfilling reading experience for everyone. I loved the story and can't wait to read the continuing Bodyguard series sure to offer more wonderfully, entertaining adventures involving Natasha and her friends! Rating: Summary: Midwest Book Review Review: In her fourth published book, Ms. French stays true to her style with this gritty action-romance. Her characters are always deftly drawn and appealing, the story lines provocative. Natasha Chamberlain - Nattie to her friends - is a young woman with many skills. With efficiency and a quick mind, she's kept Investigative Services, Inc. in Knoxville Tennessee running smoothly for three years. In her off hours she plays soccer with a go-for-the-jugular mentality. Both on and off the soccer field, Nattie can dish it out as well as take it. She has a feisty way about her, and a hair trigger temper. Nattie has two goals in life: to become a crack investigator and to climb her sexy and mysterious boss like a tree. Jonce Striker is the founder of I.S.I. He's a man blessed with intimidating size and power, of Cherokee lineage, who keeps his secret past to himself. Nattie has had a crush on him for three years but never dared to make her feelings known. When he agrees to let her guard a wealthy client, the fur begins to fly. Roger Valentine is a nerdy billionaire who hires I.S.I. to protect him when his life is threatened. Roger is seriously lacking in social skills. When this lonely, isolated man with an overbearing mother meets up with Nattie and her colleagues, his life is changed in more ways than one. His bodyguards soon become the friends and family Roger never had, and their friendship humanizes a once nerdy recluse. The action is intense as the bodyguards track more than one evil doer out to kill Roger. Nattie's courage under fire, coupled with her zany personality, both impresses and infuriates her boss, adding humor to the mix. And the simmering sexual chemistry between Striker and Nattie finally ignites with mixed results for all concerned. Can they keep their mind on business long enough to save Roger's life? The Bodyguard is a fun read, complete with sometimes frightening action, sizzling romance, and very human characters. You'll love the good guys and hate the bad guys. And the ending will come as a surprise.
Rating: Summary: The Best Author I Have Ever Read !!!!!!!!!! Review: Ms. French is heads above the rest as far as being a new writer. I have had the pleasure of reading each and every book she has written and have really loved each and every one of them. This writer is better than any of the seasoned romantic/suspense writers of yesterday and that is a good thing! Most writers after several books have been turned out tend to become boring (yawn) but not with Ms. French. Jump on the Christy T. French wagon and start entertaining yourself! You deserve to pamper yourself with a good book! This book is the absolute best place to start. Forget the rest...this writer is the best!!!!!!!!!!
