Rating: Summary: A very entertaining read Review: I really enjoyed this novel. My freind told me about it and it sounded really interesting and it was. The author knows how to write a book and make it very entertaining even when there is not much action at all. The main character was totally sarcastic which I can relate to, and made a great narrator. The only downside to this book was that the ending was too predictable, other then that, it was great.
Rating: Summary: I COULD NOT PUT THIS ONE DOWN !! Review: This book's characters were real people; they were sarcastic, funny and they had weaknesses!(Gasp!) I laughed out loud MANY times at John Corey's thoughts and the banter between characters. So many detective novels feature macho men who have unbelievable, superhuman abilities, but John Corey is a REAL macho man.
Rating: Summary: Really bad. Review: This is the first and last book I will read by this author. Everyone was raving about the book so I decided to read it. The detective, who I thought was not the least bit funny, was so annoying that if he were a real person I would probably kill him. Don't waste your money on this one.
Rating: Summary: I feel this was the best of all Demille's books! Review: I have read most of Mr. Demile's books and I like them all. This one seemed to be the most captivating of all though. The main character had a very good sense of humor. There were also the usual unexpected twists to the book. Several friends and family all agree that this book is DEFINATELY worth reading.
Rating: Summary: OK detective story... Review: Any of Demille's earlier books are excellent (pre-General's Daughter). The only thing that kept me going in this story was the very funny lines that John Coery would say.The ending was cool..and everyone got what they deserved..in abundance.
Rating: Summary: Excellent!! Review: Nelson DeMille wrote an excellent book. I don't know how he could improve it. The detective who tells the story always has a smart remark (which isn't always in good taste, considering the circumstances, and generally pisses a lot of people off). Several times I burst out laughing. The pace never lets up, and even speeds up to almost suicidal in the last 100 pages or so. I couldn't put it down (which really cut down on my sleep). The ending is supurb. I don't know how many times I've read a great book only to get to the end and be let down by a weak conclusion. This one does not dissapoint! I'd recommend Plum Island to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Exciting, on the Edge of Your Seat Review: This is the forst book of mr. De Milles that I have read. The book captures you in the forst chapter and keeps you going through out. Everything fits together with an exciting ending!! I normally read Sheldon and Patterson but will look for other books by De Mille.
Rating: Summary: Odd Storyline Review: This is the first book by the author I have read. Although not a masterpiece, I believe I will seek out some of his other works to compare. The story line struck me as odd, however the author is skilled enough to make it believable. The characters have depth and the plot twists and bends so that you are quite surprised by the end of the book. All in all, not a bad read.
Rating: Summary: Could not put this book down Review: Over the past several years, I have found it difficult to find spare time to read anything other than assigned textbooks. A friend told me that Demille was an exceptional writer and recommended this book. The first day I covered 8 chapters in a period of 2 hours and finished the book within a weeks time. Also found myself reading for longer periods of time as the story line kept me interested. Those who say that Demille's ability to write page turners has only improved have my attention. He is an outstanding writer.
Rating: Summary: Not Gold Coast, but... Review: Plum Island is not written with the depth of characters and story of Gold Coast but it is extremely entertaining and a good read.
