Summary: God gives Hope
Review: I can't begin to express all of the feelings I have after reading this book...inspiration, admiration, courage, strength, thanksgiving for my Faith and my Freedom. This is the first book that I have read related to 9-11....I read the other reviews prior to my purchase. For those that were disappointed that this isn't a "nitty-gritty-nothing-but-details" 9-11 story, I'm sorry, but you missed the point.

The book moved me to tears because it made 9-11 "real" for me.....I, thank God, didn't know anyone personally who lost his or her life on that Infamous Day. But, now I have a connection....I have a real name, a real person, and a real life....I won't forget.

Like Lisa Beamer, I do believe that God has given me Peace and Hope in the face of what happened on 9-11. She doesn't want celebrity status, or articles, interviews or accolades, she simply wants to be a Christian Mother to her children, and share with them the man that their father, Todd Beamer, was every day....I thank Lisa for sharing this story.....a personal, heartfelt glimpse into the life of ordinary people with extraordinary courage!

Summary: Inspirational account of faith & hope
Review: I had the priviledge of attending the service at Willow Creek where Lisa spoke of her loss and how her faith and her husbands sustained her. It was because of this I bought the book and spent the next two days reading it...it is touching and difficult to read but I couldn't put it down. I could feel her pain and loss and her belief in God through out the book. I think she is a hero for coming foward and setting a fine example of faith and strength, during this difficult time for her family and all the families struck by the tradegy of 911.

Summary: this book isn't what you might think...
Review: First of all, I purchased the book because I've admired Lisa Beamer for all her strength and dignity in what must be the worst period of her life. When she writes of Todd being a hero (and I completely agree that he as well as the other passengers and flight crew on Flight 93 were heroes), Lisa Beamer is herself a hero. She has been 9/11's Jackie Kennedy--a vision of poise and dignity. Now on to the book. After I finished it, I concluded that if I'd have known Lisa and Todd as a couple, we probably wouldn't have been friends. I'd probably have found their deeply held religious beliefs off-putting. On further examination, I realize that would have been my loss. Lisa quotes alot from the Bible, and for people like myself who consider themselves "spiritual" but not religious, it might seem to be over the top. But there's one part of the book that has really stuck with me since I've read it. When Lisa describes Todd's memorial service, she writes of a service filled with hope because of her total belief that Todd now dwells in Heaven, and that she will see him again. She also believes in God's will, and that Sept. 11 proved something that we all should have known all along, but might have forgotten: That God is always in control, even when we foolishly think we are. Lisa then goes on to write about a memorial service in Shanksville, PA, a service at which God was never mentioned. Lisa and her brother Paul agree that for those who grieve for loved ones without a complete belief in God, and mourn without hope, that is the saddest, most wretched grief of all. Lisa's book reveals much about Todd Beamer as a boy and young man, how they met and fell in love, and their live as newlyweds and with small children. There's not alot in this book about what exactly happened on that flight, and I don't think there needed to be. I imagine the writing of this book was cathartic to Lisa, and that's a good thing. I think Lisa Beamer is a great lady, and I think she's got a great head on her shoulders and will be able to come through this tragedy and lead a worthwhile and productive life. As far as the book, some of the writing seemed a bit over the top and naive (way too many explanation points for me), but other than that, her story is an awesome one. But think about this...this is just one person's story. For all of the nearly 3,000 people who died that day, I'm sure there are just as many amazing, wonderful, and uplifting biographies that could be written of each and every person who was murdered that day. I hope someday those stories get written, too.

Summary: Heartwarming
Review: For those of you looking for a commentary on political events, this book is not for you. For those of you who want to be upset because she is "capitalizing" on tragedy, please note that all profits go to a non-profit organization (the Todd Beamer Foundation)... I would be as disturbed as anyone else if this money was going right to her.

This book is NOT (and is not meant to be)an intellectual exercise. (This is why I did not give the book all 5 stars) HOWEVER, you can make it a spiritual experience if you wish to, and the book really moved me. It made me think about my own relationship with God and the choices I have made, and the way I have been going about things, and the way I have been looking at things. This book has helped to give me me faith in life, and in God, and in His plan for me. Thanks, Lisa, for writing such an inspiring book. I enjoyed reading about your faith, your family, and your hope. I wish you and your family the best.

Summary: Very Couragious and Generous of Spirit
Review: I sat down today to start reading Lisa Beamer's acoount of her life and the last 11 month's. Lisa is so very generous in her writing to share her experience's with us. This book is more about the " person of faith" that was Todd Beamer . Those characteristic's lead him to act in the most heroic way. Lisa not only share's her own experience's - but gives the reader a glimpse of what happened on a more personal level while visiting the crash site , The White House and the course of event's that have lead her to the present. The book most defintely may make some people question the road they have taken . The incredible courage , generousity of spirit and dedication to her husband's memory is remarkable. I could not put the book down.

Summary: truly inspiring!
Review: I am also the mother of three small children, so I can identify with Lisa not only as a Christian, but also on a maternal level. I cannot imagine what she is going through. She has been thrust into the role of not only nurturing her childrens' spirits, intellectual and emotional well-being, but also ensuring that they are provided the necessary means of daily life. I applaud her efforts. I am inspired by her. Her children are blessed to have her as she is leading them by true example of how to pick up the pieces and create something new and beautiful out of a most tragic and horrific situation. I am encouraged by her spirituality and reliance on her faith. I struggle just to get through some days with my small children, and my wonderful husband comes home to us every night. When I am in need of a pick-me-up, I refer to a magnet on my refrigerator which is a wonderful Bible verse (Jeremiah 29:11), and I was thrilled to see it mentioned a couple of times in the book. I cannot wait to pass this book along to my friends!

Summary: Can't Put It Down
Review: One of the best-written books I've read in a long time. Fascinating stories and great insights into Lisa and Todd's lives and the events surrounding 9-11. When you put yourself in her shoes you can see how you can really make a difference with your life. I can see why this book is a bestseller.

Summary: Great Story of Faith and Courage
Review: I could not put this book down... all the emotions of 9/11 came rushing back... Uncle Sam is wrong in previous review... all proceeds go to the Todd Beamer Foundation... she is not profiting. We in America don't know how to respond to the lives of ordinary people going about their lives, working, having kids, and not caught up in the celebrity thing.

This book is about a normal family that was thrust into the midst of the most extraordinary event our lives and how they dealt with the tragedy. I don't think any of us could handle ourselves the way that not only Lisa Beamer, but all the families of Flight 93.

Highly recommend.

Summary: Hero before 9/11
Review: What this book proves is that Todd Beamer was a hero long before September 11th. Although "Let's Roll" is to the War on Terrorism what Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" was to the Revolution, there is a bigger story here.

It it a story about an ordinary man with extraordinary faith who was a servant to his family, community and country long before September 11th. America is a blessed nation and this book is about one of the finest Americans in our 226 year history.
