Summary: Excellent book - WORTH your time and $$!!!!!
Review: This book was such an eye opener for me. I wish I had read it 20 years ago. Much wisdom can be gained. I read it 3 times in 3 days. Contrary to one or two other opinions on this book, it is WELL written, easy to read and WORTH every penny! If you claim to be a Christian and do not see the wisdom in this book then you better get on your knees before God!

Summary: Excellent! Thought-provoking.
Review: Wow! I've never read such an interesting book. I first read this when I was 18, and I was enthralled with Jim and Elisabeth's story. How could anyone live up to such ideals?! But putting your lovelife under God's control is what it's all about and anything is possible with Christ. A must read! :-)

Summary: good but flawed
Review: I like her general princple on dating emotion is not every thing, physical contacts is far less important than you think etc. And I think this is the best line of the whole book: "Be more than a lover-be a friend." However, a lot of her advice is not for everyone. Also, her logic is bad (most of the christian books are, in keeping with the paul's proud assertion which says, in effect, God use the foolish to shame the wise of the world.)an obviously circuar example is on p.84, where she had a imaginary conversation with Paul. Essentialy, the premise and the conclusion are the same thing--Paul's own writing. I do like her writing style, though. And another thing, I found her piety and her constant reminder that we really don't have the ablity to, and can't do any thing on our own, and if we do try to, it is a sin (whether she thinks she SHOULD BE like that or she is REALLY like that) is sickening, it's like saying willing to be mind-contolled and brain-washed and generally enslaved internally is the greatest virtue in the world.

Summary: Needed
Review: I am relived to see a book that is willing to encourage those of us who the Lord has called to singelness for a season. It embraces more then just a set of relational do's and don'ts. We are shown though the life od Jim and Elisabeth how tow young people, although not perfect, could dedicate their lives and wills to that of God's. She encourages the reader to dig deeper and find the way God desiers you to apply the concepts layed forth in this book applies to their lifes.

Summary: Save your money.
Review: For the love of God, save your money. I read this book, and had a feeling of being manipulated as I read it. This book isn't bad if you're an impressionable youth who wants all the answers handed to you on a silver plate. If you do get this book, realize that this author is but one point of view among the many offered. I am a Chirstian and sacredly hold its values. However, instead of reading a sentimental recollection of her memories, I suggest that you write the book of your own life, and understand your life within the context of the on-going history of the Christian Tradition. If you want to be a true Christian, you must read and understand the TRADITION of the Church in all its facets. Don't get caught up in some one who claims to be God's mouthpiece when that mouthpiece obviously does not offer more than one possible interpretation of such an issue.

Summary: GREAT!
Review: I would recommend this book to anyone! I can relate to just about everything Mrs. Elliot says. I wish that I had read this book when I was 15 and began dating; instead of wasting all those years worrying about guys, I could have been trusting God. As a matter of fact, I just started reading it for the 6th time today!

Summary: Amazing
Review: I am a college student and this book blew a lot of my ideas about dating out of the water. I am not sure if I really knew how a God-glorifying relationship was defined. Elisabeth Elliot uses her own story as a testimony of seeking after God's will in relationships -- laying everything at His feet. Yet she goes beyond that and speaks of bringing everything to Him on a daily basis. An absolutely incredible book that changed this girl's perspective.

Summary: The christian version of "The Rules"
Review: This is the book that will forever change the way you feel about dating and the opposite sex! This will give you tools that you need to REALLY learn what it is to put your love life under the authority of Jesus Christ. I just recently broke up with my boyfriend, and this book helped give me hope for the future. I think that this book does its best by granting those hope that God indeed has a plan... A MUST read for everyone!

Summary: I could seriously read this book in one sitting!
Review: I read "Passion & Purity" about once a year. It is a 'must' for every girl and guy. It is practical in that it relates to what every guy and girl goes through in a lifetime. Love is not portrayed in a 'whirlwind romance' style, but a controlled, Christ-honouring way.

Elisabeth Elliot's writing style is so down-to-earth and realistic. I am so glad I found out about this book when I did. It has encouraged my spiritual walk immensely, and it's been great to refer to it among friends!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Read this book and life suddenly gets easier.
Review: Guys: do not shy away from reading Elisabeth Elliot. No fluff here. Reading this book (and Quest for Love) will change how you think about this crazy phenomenon we call dating, as well as your view of our glorious God. Order two so you can give one away.
