Summary: Learning WHOSE you are
Review: This book was exactly what I needed at this point in my life. I had heard of Elisabeth Elliot, for I went to Ecuador myself and lived for a week with the indians who slew her husband Jim, but I never fully knew how Godly of a woman she is. She is an inspiration, a motivation, and a friend. Reading Passion and Purity was one of the most gratifying experiences of my life. Learning how to be in love with the one who made me and remembering WHOSE I am has changed my life forever. I beg of you - man or woman - read this book for a new way of looking at marriage and yourself. You won't be sorry.

Summary: This is by far the best book I have ever read...
Review: This book has opened my heart and helped me to look inside and examine what I am really thinking to see if I am following God or following my own desires. Elisabeth Elliot tells it like it is and that will offend some people. Most people don't like to actually look at what is in the darkness of their hearts - but I highly recommend this book for those who are brave enough to do so! This book has inspired me to pour out my true feelings into my journal and has helped me see what the will of God is my love life. It has honestly helped me through a very tough time when I could have acted like a little brat, demanding that my needs be fulfilled. Instead, because of this book, I have a peaceful heart.

Summary: Does God really want everything?
Review: This book completely changed my life. I read it as a very young teenager. Back then it didn't seem to be that applicable. I reread the book this year while struggling with the issue of purity in relationships. WOW...is all i can say. Mrs. Elliot tells the story of her life and puts it words for today's single people to understand. It is a story of painful loneliness and triumph over temptation. It addresses the issue that every Christian faces...Does God really want everything? The answer is yes. And if we as Christians give him everything, He has something far greater in store for us.

Summary: Great for the open minded
Review: This book is a must for any person who is entering into the world of dating/relationships. If your looking to be merely entertained, this book might not be for you. If you are looking to grow and are willing to approach the content of this book with an open mind, then you will only be delighted.

This book deals with beliefs based on Biblical principals, so if you are offended by conservative thought, you might ought to look elsewhere.

Summary: Useless for the 21st century
Review: Impractical application for dating in the 21st century. True Love in World of False Hope or something by Michelle McKinney Hammond would be better choices for Christian dating principles.

Summary: Putting purity before passion.
Review: I found this book encourging when I was a teen. I strugled with passion in my life and didn't know how to deal with the emotions. I would feel guilty for having sensual thoughts and emotions, especialy because I wanted to feed those emotions not curb them. What this book showed me was that I must decide to commit myself to purity and wait for God's timing to be able to explore those emotions in the context God intended: Marriage!

Summary: Pretty dated by now. Need something fresher.
Review: I suppose Ms. Elliot's book was good for young people from thirty years ago, but the other reviewers are right - it's pretty dated, and most of us would prefer something newer that understands the modern world and doesn't seem stuck in the 50s. True Love in a World of False Hope is better than this or Kissed Dating Goodbye, and Singles at the Crossroads is pretty good too.

Summary: Change your perspective on what is pure in dating
Review: If you want to see a real example of a couple keeping themselves pure before God, this is an awesome book. Yes, she is a little dry but that is what is good about it. She isn't selling fluff that isn't what God is about. She tells a story of her courtship with Jim Elliot, an awesome man of God. I don't care what people say about "I kissed dating goodbye" being better they are wrong. God used this book to change my perspective on purity to be a Godly woman and to know how I conduct myself and not chase after relationships. To enjoy my role and to then encourage other women to stay pure until their wedding day and not pursue men. God used this woman tremendously in my life and the lives of the other ladies in a single women's study to understand what God wanted from us as women. I married a year ago and our first kiss, EVER, was when the pastor said you may now kiss your bride and I am so glad she was obedient to write this book. Buy extra copies you'll need them for your kids.

Summary: interesting but...
Review: i was excited to read this book... but was disapointed. I would recommend "i kissed dating goodbye" , author:joshua harris for a very direct and concise book that explains many different aspects about our lives, while single, and gives many suggestions.
