Rating: Summary: IT is not to be dealt with if you do not know the facts Review: This book can entice you into the world of the unknown, but you can and must remember that these materials are in good and evil hands and you and only you are in your path of a wise decision before you have this intoxicating novel in your hands
Rating: Summary: useful tool for the serious ritualist Review: Very handy, large-print pamphlet for the serious magician reproducing the fifty Names of Marduk, with their invocations and sigils, exactly as
presented in the "big" Necronomicon. A
brief but trenchant introduction by Simon
explains the theory and how-to of ritual
for the practitioner. Published by
magicians for magicians, the size is right
for use at the altar.
It's important to note, however, that this
was never intended for those approaching
the Necronomicon with a strictly
academic interest. Odds are the idly
curious will be disappointed by this slender
volume and would be better advised to
read the Necronomicon and consult the
Spellbook only if and when they wish to
move from theory to practice
Rating: Summary: Nonsense Review: This is a spellbook that calls upon ancient Sumerian gods/demi-gods? Why not call on Zeus, or Pluto - or better yet, Sauron or Iluvatar (from Tolkien). Nothing remotely intriguing or illuminating on the art of necromancy. The title itself is a misnomer.
Rating: Summary: has alot of potential Review: now, it has been debating in-depth, quite for some time whether or not the necronomicon in general is a myth. That the belief system of this book generates it power only by new believers. Whether the necronomicon is authentic or not, this is not the case with me because it is a very powerful book. i know this by having a copy of it years ago. now concerning the spellbook; the book is explained quite simply. you will come to know what spirit to call and for what purposes, from what i've heard the results are immediate. i actually came across this book because of the sigils for i'm interested in all sorts of sigils. i have not tried any of the spells or incantations out of this book because there is not banishing ritual ( a license to depart the spirits after you've called them ) and that is a very bad thing. that is why i am giving this book a three star rating. to me, it seemed like simon was trying to get more consumers to buy his products with the continuation of the necronomicon legacy for the sole-purpose of making a fast buck. but if the spells due work (and from what i've heard, they do) it was very irresponsible of him to not decribe any banishing rituals in the book. any practitioner of the arts knows that banishing is a very serious rule of thumb when contacting any type of spirits. therefore i doubt his authentification (if any) of his knowledge in the occult. if you do buy this book and intend to use it, please learn how to properly banish spirits so you can develop a solid system of your own to banish these entities. you may get what you want but if you happen to so something wrong or just pissed of the the spirit by summoning it;it may linger around and eventuall destroy your life and that far outweighs any wish granted. so becareful!
Rating: Summary: This is a spellbook that works Review: I bought this book in 1999, and have had some success with it. I am not an academic or a teen graveyard occultist. I have been doing spells for over 30 years. My first experience was with an irate client, who I had placed in muni-bonds and had been quite upset when the market tanked. I knew I had a hard sell meeting, within a 1/2 hour he called to tell me he decided to wait it out. Another sucess was getting my son a job, with three days he had one, and lastly after having the house on the market for a year and 1/2, (yes, even in this market) we got 3 interested buyers and are closing soon. But I can't get it to win me lotto, or some others have not worked out. But it does work, follow direction, keep it simple and you should have a 80% chance of changing things, we can't seem to do on our own. Isn't that what casting a spell is about.
Rating: Summary: what is most amazing about this book!!! Review: Is that those who read it believe they actualy have girlfriends!!! Come on! admit it you are guys who wear black sabbath t-shirts and live in your parents basements. You also believe that you can get control of you live by chanting some spells from a book made to get your money. Look, go get a hair cut, take a bath and loose 10 pounds and you will probably get that girl friend that you talk about. Oh by the way the Necronomicon is fiction! . . except for the real copy that is in my basement, in my parents house where I used to live when I was 15.
Rating: Summary: Real Magick ! Review: It may be true that Simon's Necronomicon is a modern day creation--but that does not invalidate the authenticity of the rituals in the books. I am a Wiccan High Priest who has spent much time in studying ritual design. In the Wiccan tradition, the age of a ritual is of little importance...What is important is the ritual design, i.e., does the design raise power? Focus that power? Send it out to the universe, the gods, etc? The Necromonicon Spell Book, does meet these criteria. Focused power, is focused power--however that is accomplished. Do not discredit this book because it may be modern and not an anceint tome...it is still real...In fact, even the supposed "ancient" grimoires--where at one time "new". The principles that this book work from are true and ancient occult practices that have proven to be effective over time. I highly recommend this book for any serious occult practitioner.
Rating: Summary: Not what it purports to be Review: This book is not what it purports to be. It is supposed to be a grimoire of necromancy, but instead it is a grimoire of spells to help you get better grades on your chemistry test, help the love of your life (even if they don't love you) have affection for you, and other such typical "safe" spells. How do these things happen? Well, you pray - for that's what is, you're not reciting spells, you're praying - to ancient Sumerian gods. I could easily write a book that did all the same things, and used many interesting and mystifying symbols and letters, by using the languages and alphabets that Tolkien created for Middle Earth. Seriously.
If you want to do better on your chemistry test - study harder. If you want the girl you adore to love you - be a better person. Don't look to this to help, because it won't. The ancient Sumerian gods are no more real than the gods Tolkien wrote of in The Silmarillion.
Rating: Summary: Sumerian Magick Illustrated Review: "Necronomicon Spellbook" is very terse, and does _not_ provide sufficient background to understand Sumerian magick. Author Ed Simon's "Necronomicon" (ASIN 0380751925) is a better reference for those wishing to understand Sumerian magick. IMO the chief use of the "Necronomicon Spellbook" is providing glyph illustrations for tattoo artists.
