Rating: Summary: The first chapter leaves you hungary for more. Review: Well done! I own it, and so should you!
Rating: Summary: charming Review: This was the first Julie Garwood novel I ever read and I loved it. The plot was good. Baron Duncan steals Lady Madelyne from her brother, Louddon, in retaliation of(?) Duncan's sisters rape by Louddon. Well, you know how it goes from there (love abounds:). Madelyne wins over Duncan's whole family, who initially hate and distrust her, and finally wins over Duncan. After a hasty marriage to Madelyn, Duncan works his hardest to keep Louddon from stealing her back. The characters were good, but I didn't really like Madelyne all that much. Her idiosyncrasies, which I suppose Garwood meant to be endearing, were just a little bit annoying. But, it was still a good book and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfull Book! Review: This is one of those books that I can read over and over again. I bought it years ago and still find myself reading it. Madelyne is a wonderfull charcter, with her own dark past and path in life. Until she meets, or rescues, Duncan. This is a truely unique book, which strays from the usual plot and charcter dynamics.
Rating: Summary: One of Garwood's best!!!! Review: Girls...if you like Julie Garwood....ooooh..you are going to love this!!! It is so fast paced...literally..by like page 3 I was hooked!!!! The way that Madelyne and Duncan met was sooo wonderfully romantic!!! Madelyne was so sweet and Duncan was as sexy as they come!!! This is DEFINITELY a book worth reading!! Don't pass it up!!!!
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This was one of my favorite Garwood's ever! All of her books are good, but this one is outstanding. Madelyne is a perfect heroine, she is a real person: smart, kind, sympathetic, but also needy with a slow but fierce temper. Duncan is a really nice guy. He seems tough and arrogant at first, like the typical Garwood hero, but he's not. I love the way they fall in love in the middle of the book and actually admit it. It's not one of those frustrating romances where the characters take forever denying their love and misunderstand each other's intentions. READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: The best one yet. Review: This has got to be one of the best books Julie Garwood has ever writen thus far. The hard arrogant, yet soft hearted Baron is so easy to fall in love with. While the soft, sweet tempered Lady Madelyn makes your heart go out to her. You can actually feel her blossom. I couldn't put this book down.
Rating: Summary: HONOR ALWAYS BEATS REVENGE Review: When Duncan Louddon is captured by his enemy and staked out to freeze to death, his captor's sister, Lady Madelyne risks her life to rescue him, then her modesty to thaw him. What Madelyne doesn't know is that Duncan has not come for her evil brother, but for her, as a revenge-taking in retaliation of an earlier wrong done to his own sister. However, Lady Madelyne's gentle and unassuming nature proves to be the undoing of the revenge plan. Instead of hating her, within days, she has unwittingly captured the honorable heart of her captor. HONOR'S SPLENDOUR is not the usual romance novel. It's full of action and intrigue, as well as romance and passion. I couldn't put this one down.
Rating: Summary: The book that got me hooked.... Review: Honor's Spendour was the very first HR book Ive ever read (and that was about 8 years ago). Im about to purchase my 3rd copy of this book because the other 2 are about to go to book heaven. There's no doubt that Honor's Splendour is a keeper, I just hope that the publishers will never stop publishing this book or any other Julie Garwood book for that matter.. Julie Garwood is a Legend! Dont let anyone tell you otherwise!
Rating: Summary: Honor's Splendour Review: This is a wonderful story full of romance! From the moment she warms his feet you will love the heroine. When the soldiers salute her with their swords I swear I sighed out loud. Julie Garwood is a comfort author for me. I know when times get tough and I need to escape from the real world, her stories will sweep me away to another time, another place. Thank You
Rating: Summary: A Splendid Story Review: As a first time reader of Julie Garwood, I was quite impressed by "Honor's Splendour". I've always enjoyed historical and period stories and this story is right up my alley. The heroine is both strong and kind and the hero is dashing and passionate. The story begins in England, in 1099 in the feuding court of King William. Baron Duncan of Wexton, the Wolf, has vowed revenge on Baron Louddon after he discovers that the Louddon raped his young sister Adela while she was in the King's court. Duncan travels to Louddon's castle under what he thinks is a truece when he is captured and set out to freeze to death. Louddon's sister, Madelyne rescues Duncan and then finds herself Duncan's hostage. Louddon's castle is burned and Duncan, along with his hostage and his army begin their journey back home. Madelyne, is a gentle woman who has been scorned by her father and brother all of her life. After her mother's death, she was sent to her uncle, a priest, to live. With her uncle she finds a home with love and learning. She returns home to find Louddon's feelings towards her have not changed, except for the fact that he now desires his step-sister. On the day she is taken hostage by Duncan, she had planned to escape to Scotland to live with a cousin. Now's she's the prisoner of her brother's sworn enemy, who happens to be the most handsome man she's ever met. I found this novel to be a very entertaining read. I enjoyed the transformation of Adela once Madelyne is brought into the Wexton home. Duncan's brothers, Edmond and Gilard also provide humor to the novel as well as a little competition romance-wise for Duncan. I was very impressed by Mrs. Garwood's style of writing. She's very talented and has a way of creating a character that speaks to your heart like Madelyn and Duncan. I look forward to reading more of her novels. I'd love to see some sort of trilogy involving the remaining single brothers. Just a thought...and a hint. :)
