Rating: Summary: Truly Disappointing! Review: I'm a big fan of Christine Feehan's work. I have enjoyed her previous three novels, but I am very disappointed with her latest effort. Dark Magic is nothing but a reiteration of her first three books. It contains the same elements of a dark, brooding, overprotective male and a bratty, weak, and stubborn female. The only thing that separates this novel from the first is the geographic location. The same plot still abides with Gregori finding his lifemate and binding her to him for all time while trying to protect both her and himself from Carpathians turned vampires who want his lifemate for themselves. Christine Feehan's first novel Dark Prince was a one of a kind and even the second presented us with another side of the Carpathian culture, but I have found her latest two novels to be tired and played out. Christine Feehan please write us something a little more original.
Rating: Summary: Another Glowing Review Review: I must admit that I had doubts about this book, while I loved her previous 3 books on of the Dark series, the stories seemed to be more or less the same. This book was a delight, unlike her other books, Savannah (the female lead) was not a wilting lily. And Ms. Fehan also developed Gregori's character more than she did her previous male leads. Giving him more depth. Of course coupled with her usual sensual style, and an unexpected addition of a mortal male being made into a human 'servant', this book is her best yet. I can't wait to read the next book on Aiden.
Rating: Summary: The perfect match! Review: Did you ever wait in anticipation for the next book in a series, maybe expect too much or maybe not, but end up extremely disappointed? Then this was not that book. I began following this series a few months ago, and was waiting in great anticipation for Gregori's story. But I was afraid that the actual book would never meet my expectations and I would be terribly disappointed. That just didn't happen. This is the strongest couple I have seen in a novel in a long time. Each is tormented by their past, she by 23 years only, he by nearly 1000 years. But each learns to live with his own past, accept his own past, and accept the past failings of the other. Savannah is an extremely strong heroine, but in her position she must be. Only a very strong woman could deal with Gregori on her own terms. He must try to dominate her because that is his nature; his way of protecting her. She lets him know that she will not be dominated even though she understands why he is doing so. He cares enough for her, and still has much more humanity than he realizes, that he is willing to give in or at least compromise with her wishes. And she is willing to do the same for him. She loves him, but yet she fears him. He seems to be aware only of her fear of him and works to control himself to win her love. How these two incredibly strong people work their way through their problems and find the ultimate love that was destined for them makes for an exciting, amusing, and tender story that is definitely a keeper! Buy this one, read it, and make sure you read the rest of the series. They're just great!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I know everyone else seemed to love this book, but I'm clueless as to why. How can a hero be a real hero if he RAPES his heroine? And that's exactly what took place--he had sex with her against her will. I'd always hoped that 1000 years of living would make Gregori a little more understanding, a little wiser, than some of the other Carpathians. It only seemed to make him more stubborn, close-minded and dominating. If you like to read romance about a relationship you don't have a choice in, about living with a man who treats his woman like a child, along with the usual amount of blood, this will work for you. I've read the whole series now. The only hero I thought was great was Adian from Dark Gold. That book gave me hope for this one. But this was so disappointing, so much of Gregori telling Savannah what to do and how to do it, I could only think she was a co-dependent sap for falling in love with him.
Rating: Summary: Eat Crow, Gregori Review: I loved this book. It had everything: romance, humor, suspense, horror. I haven't been this happy since Chelsea Quinn Yarbro started writing more of the Saint-Germain books. I've been fascinated with Gregori since the first time I met him in "Dark Desire" (Jacques and Shea's story). He's spent the previous three books giving his friends a bad time because they let their lifemates walk all over them. And now he puddles every time Savannah looks at him. I was ready to smack Savannah when I found out she was stringing Gregori along (Dark Gold--Aidan's book), but after meeting her, I really like her. I know the books are formula, but Ms Feehan does such a great job of giving each of the characters their own quirks. I'm so glad she's continuing with more books. I can't wait for Julian and Byron's stories. Wouldn't these books make great movies?
Rating: Summary: Christine Feehan has done it again! Review: I must admit that it was with some apprehension that I purchased Dark Magic. Oh,I've enjoyed the three previous books, and consider myself both a fan of Christine Feehan and her Dark Saga, but having waited for Gregori's story for so long, I was afraid that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. I'm happy to report that my fears were unfounded. Dark Magic was all that I expected and more. Dark, Erotic, Funny, and touching, this story grabs and holds ones attention until the end. After years of darkness, Gregori, legendary healer and hunter/killer for the Carpathian race finally claims his life mate. Believing that his years of killing, and his tampering with nature (In Dark Prince and Dark Desire, Gregori, through knowledge attained over the centuries, manipulates events to ensure that Raven gives birth to his life mate) have stained his soul and made him unworthy and incapable of attaining the love of the heroine, Gregori refuses to believe and trust in the gem he has been given. It is up to Savannah to prove him wrong. Strong and with the blood of the ancients (Prince Mikhail, the leader of the Carpathians is her father) running through her veins, Savannah is more than a match for Gregori. She challenges him, gives him fits, and teaches him to laugh and trust. A must read for paranormal romance fans. Bravo Christine! So happy to hear that more stories of the Dark Saga are planned. The Carpathian addict that I have become is doing back flips as I type. :-) Also, recommend Dark Prince, Dark Desire and Dark Gold.
Rating: Summary: Why did I read it so fast Review: I have been waiting so long for this book that when it finally came, I devored it like a person lost in the desert would water. The problem is that I read it so fast that I had to read it a second time so I can really enjoy it. I knew when I read the first chapter on Christine Feehan's web site that this book would be the best so far, and I was right. Greorgi is my favorite alpha male, but he meets in match in Savannah. She teaches him to feel, to find humor, to love. I think the interaction with Gary (a human) is great too, I would love to see him show up every now and then in her other books. Thanks again Ms. Feehan for a great book. Now, it is another three month wait for Julian's story.
Rating: Summary: SUPER Review: Ms. Feehan, has done it again, what a story, I waited for this installment, checking every month for its arrival. Well its here, an to me even better than the first book. So beautifully written we all should have a love like Gregori and Sanannah. Thank You, you give us dreams. PS. When is the next book "smile"
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC - WELL WORTH THE WAIT! Review: I, like most of the previous reviewers, have been hooked on Christine Feehan since the first page of the first book (Dark Prince). I was also worried that Dark Magic could not live up to my expectations. NO NEED TO WORRY! This book is terrific! Gregori is more powerful, compelling, and dangerous than ever. Savannah is completely overwhelmed by him at first. She has lived a life of love and happiness with Carpathians and humans alike. She is terribly frightened of Gregori (as any sane being would be) but is more frightened by her own INTENSE feelings for him. Gregori, on the other hand, has always been alone. He has been waiting centuries for Savannah and literally CAN NOT wait any longer. They need to overcome her fear and his desperation, quickly! Savannah eventually realizes her own power and worth in the fact that Gregori absolutely NEEDS her to survive. Meanwhile, Savannah slowly draws him back into the world of, emotions, colors, humans, laughter, and life! Another fabulous book! Isn't it extraordinary that an author can write four such outstanding books without losing any intensity! They are each incredible, and so is Christine Feehan. I sincerely hope the next book arrives soon, and that it's about Julian. I can't wait!
