Rating: Summary: Did not meet my expectations... Review: After the first books focusing on Gregori's unlimited power, I was very disapointed in his weaknesses. He was very controlling over Savannah, and I found myself getting frustrated because she would forgive him so fast after he would force her to do something. Gregori seemed less powerful than the other Carpathians we have read about so far, but, because it ws by Christine Feehan, of course I gave it three stars. It was still worth reading.
Rating: Summary: An Enthralling Book Review: Just from reading the first chapter you get caught up in the story. It has steamy love scenes and an intricate plot. The characters are sexy and powerful. The way Gregori had so many different pet names for Savannah annoyed me a bit and the humor Feehan tried to put in it was a little dull. Other than that, it is a good read for vampire fans.
Rating: Summary: Great addition to the series Review: Having first read Dark Prince I was hooked! I have never cared for this genre but Ms Feehan has changed my mind. The Carpathians she has created have charisma - an energy that makes even the unbelievable seem acceptable. I was so hooked that I ordered this and then waited 2 months for the post from the USA to arrive( by re-reading Dark Prince twice !!)so I could find out what happened to Gregori, and Mikhail and Raven's daughter. I own the whole series and have not been disappointed yet as each provides a different insight on the ways of this exciting race. My only complaint is I now have to wait for the next book !! If you like romance but want a clever plot and some good action then Ms Feehan will not disappoint.
Rating: Summary: DARK DELIGHTS Review: Make sure when you start this book you've got the time to read straight through to the end, because you won't be able to put it down. Christine is a masterful storyteller, and she holds your attention from page 1. I hope the rest of our Carpathian friends have stories coming... this is one series you won't want to finish!!! VERY ADDICTIVE READING
Rating: Summary: Christine Feehan keeps getting better Review: I have to say that Christine Feehan is an awesome storyteller. Unfortunately, at times, mechanical details get in the way of her story. Sometimes the transitions are hard to follow and there is a tendency to fall back on cliches and overuse phrases (such as a voice like black velvet or his molten mercury eyes) But none of those small, minor things changes the fact that her stories are inventive and memorable. Overall, her books are sensual and compelling. And this was my favorite book so far. I have all of the "Dark" books, and she has been building up to Gregori's story in each of them. Dark Magic is not a let down. In my opinion, Gregori grows more than any of her male characters have. His dark passion and his grudging humor are a very appealing blend. Also, Savannah was wonderful. Until now the women in the books have had no choice but to resign themselves to a Carpathian fate, and I didn't really feel that the male characters were growing enough. The former heroines were well written, but I think Savannah is an improvement. I found her to be a very feisty, yet loving, match for Gregori, and I eagerly await the next book.
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: Very Enjoyable Read. I Recommend all 4 books so far.Gregori very loveable. But I expected more from the story.
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointing Read Review: Based on all the glowing 5-star reviews, I rashly ordered four of the "Dark X" books at the same time. BIG Mistake! What a crushing disappointment and waste of my money and shipping charges! If you're intrigued by all the high praise you've read here and have never read one Feehan's novels before, for heaven's sake, only buy one of them before committing yourself like I did. Of the four, Dark Magic was the only one that I was able to finish (although I skimmed most of the last fourth) so I guess that I liked it better than the rest. The other reviews pretty much tell you the basic plot, so I'll just add that, IMHO, Feehan's writing style and pacing in all four books was so jumpy (i.e. didn't flow well) that the level of concentration required to follow the story line just plain made me tired. In Dark Magic (as for the H/H in the others) it seemed to me that too much of Gregori and Savannah's personalities and feelings were told to the reader as narrative rather than revealed through dialog and action. The result was that I never connected with either of them and ultimately was bored by both of them. I guess it didn't help that I thought Savannah to be perilously close to being TSTL at the beginning of the book (considering that she is the daughter of the Prince of the Carpathians). And to me the engimatic Gregori's arrogance came across as the result of general obnoxiousness rather than as a result of the deep-felt angst of a "tormented soul". I would say that these books just weren't my cup of tea but the thing is that they really could have been! The plot seemed great, exactly what I would like, but the delivery just didn't -- well -- didn't deliver. Sigh. These will go straight to the UBS where hopefully someone will find them & enjoy them better than I did. I'll just stick to LKH for my vampire fix.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous--What more can I say? Review: I LOVED this book. I never imagined when I ordered and read Dark Prince that I would soon be addicted to these wonderful, dark, brooding Carpathian men. I devoured this one in so short a time, the only disappointment that I felt was that it was over! I'd waited so long for Gregori's tale, and I wasn't disappointed. And I absolutely loved Savannah. She is strong and funny, and sticks to her guns. I am an aspiring author who writes vampire romances, and I hope that one day, I can do the same as Ms. Feehan--leave the reader panting for more and wishing the book had been longer!
Rating: Summary: Powerful and JUICY ! Review: The Dark Series books are by far the BEST reading I have come across. Be warned ! Once you pick if up, you will not be able to put it down ! I was totally drawn into the stories. If you love romance with a 'twist', you have got to give these books a try.
