Summary: It was okay
Review: I am tired of reading books about dometic violence and physical abuse. There are too many books on this subject and still no answer? I was rather confused by the characters in this book. Try, "My Brother's Keeper."

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Amazing Book!!!!!!
Review: I am usually a true crime reader. I am very visual and I really get into my books. I am there as things happen and novels did not do that for me. They were never "real enough" until I read "For Every Black Eye". What a book!!!.

I was there with "Febe" and "JayR" and all of the other characters. What a realistic book. I am in the Family Law field...it could not get more real than this. This is what women of domestic violence go through and dream of doing, but of course are too afraid to seek revenge. I recommend this book.
I give it 2 thumbs up. GREAT BOOK!!!!!
I cannot wait for C.F. Hawthorne's next book!

Summary: Excellent Read
Review: I could not put the book down until the very end. C.F. Hawthorne literally made the characters in her book come to life. After reading For Every Black Eye, all I could say is WOW, this book has the potential to be box office hit. C.F. I wish you much continued success in your writings and I'm looking forward to buying and reading your next book.

Summary: Good Book
Review: I enjoyed this book to an extent. There were really some unrealistic parts to this book that were really outrageous, but other than that I thought this book was okay. I can't wait to read her other books.

Summary: FOR EVERY BLACK EYE
Review: I had the pleasure of meeting the author C. F. Hawthorne at one of our book club meeting. She came and did a reading from the book. It was an eye opener. Not beening personally effected by such an attack by a male, but just knowing that there are so many women out there that this is happening to every minute of the day. It's such an alarming fact how we do not recognize the signs that are so obvious. I am my sister's keeper, "For Every Black Eye" is a must read for everyone. I really enjoyed the book and I cannot wait for her next novel.

Summary: For Every Black Eye by C. F. Hawthorne
Review: I thought the book was so real I mean I haven't read a book in a very long time. I finished this book in a day and a half. That's something I've never done before. As I read I felt like I was watching the actual movie. I personally have never been a domestic violence situation but I felt Annie (Febe's) pain. I hurt when she hurt. The characters were so real to me.
I have a sister that's going through the same thing that Annie is. She will not leave him for fear of losing everything she worked for. C. F. Hawthorne has opened my eyes to reading again and to a subject that most people either live or don't know anything about. Thanks for the great movie I couldn't even get up to get popcorn for fear of missing something.

Summary: A Constant Page Turner
Review: I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I appreciated the emergence of Annie's alter ego as her protector with her own set of vunerabilities and issues. The mindset of vengance, was great because it provided an advocate not just for Annie/Febe, but for other abused women as well.

I did have an issue with how quickly Annie re-emerged, but I was also able to notice that Annie had been trying to regain control since the moment Febe began seeking help for herself. I think that there could have been a better dispaly of the "happy medium" between Annie and Febe, where both sides existed simultaneously...but then again the book is great as it is.

I loved the moment where Annie got to avenge herself! That was the high point of the book and well worth the wait. And as JayR becomes her protector, the book ends with the best 2 words that Febe was never able to execute.

I can't display enough my exictement for this book, Mrs. Hawthorne, this was a GREAT debut and I look forward to many more.

Summary: Amazing!!!
Review: Miss Hawthorne is an excellent skilled young writer. This book grips you and keeps you. There is never a dull moment. The characters are well thought out and clear to the reader. I look forward to reading more of this author's masterpieces!

Summary: For Every Black Eye by C.W. Hawthorne - My impression...
Review: Once I started reading the book I found I did not want to put it down. I wanted to get deeper into the plot and to see what the outcome would be. Domestic Violence is "what it is", and the writer makes you see it for "what it is" and why so many women (and men)can't or won't leave the abuser. It is a huge part of life and I think this story related to me exactly how I would feel and what I would want to do to the offender. Although extreme, and eye for an eye would be my way. But then again, as the book states "violence for violence?" It should be in any criminal situation that the criminal receives the same treatment he/she did to the victim. That is my opinion. But, not for the victim to carry it out. This is a good book and I recommend it highly.
