Summary: I do not understand the appeal of this book.
Review: I found the style of writing too flowery. To describe it as melodramatic is an understatement. Also, Shana was annoying. I must say, the only good part of this book for me was the hero. Now HE was something!

I think I'll stick to Judith McNaught, Susan E. Phillips, Patricia Gaffney, and others.

I recommend: ALMOST HEAVEN by McNaught and LADY BE GOOD by Phillips and TO HAVE AND TO HOLD by Gaffney!

Summary: The Magic and the Glory of K. Woodiwiss
Review: I've read Shanna over and over through the 10 last years and i still think that is simply wonderful. Shanna and Brent are the most delicious couple of romance. He "is" my man. I love him. the story is one of the most beautiful work of writing. Thank you Mrs. Woodiwiss for the marvelous moments that i had had with your book.

PS. I have read all the books of Kathleen and they are great.

Summary: I have read this book 7 times. Still love it!!!
Review: In the 7 time that I have read this book, I still am enjoying it. It is such a warm, funny and loving story. This is definatly Kathleen Woodiwiss at her very best. Shanna is a spoiled brat that is taught a lesson by the man she marries. A definate twist of fate. And Rourk is so devastatingly handsome and cool headed, he makes Shanna's head swim. Then! Finally love. This is a wonderful book that anyone could fall for. My husband has read this wonderful book and feels the same as I do. He thinks it fun, loving and sexy. Man-O-Man!!! Rourk does have sex appeal. Hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I have and still am.

Summary: greatest historical romance ever written
Review: I compare all other historical romances to Shanna. This book takes you back in time to live out a once in a lifetime love between two exciting people. I have a hard copy of this book that I re-read at least once a year. I wish I could read it for the first time over and over again.

Summary: Simply Bored with Shanna
Review: I would consider selling, giving, or doing just about anything for a character like Ruark in my life! Pampered Shanna continues to refuse him throughout the book giving a tired complaint about his lack of station, position, and birthright. Despite the earnest, mutual attraction that frequently dispels her control and leads to physical and seemingly spiritual intimacy, Shanna still refuses Ruark. Despite his frequent success at saving her pride, reputation, and life, Shanna still refuses Ruark. By the end of the book, I didn't have any respect for Ruark, either. What a disappointing read!

Summary: Incredible, incredible, incredible
Review: Woodiwiss never ceases to completely enthrall me and transport me to a different time and place. "Shanna" is not only an example of this, but Woodiwiss' best novel and my favorite one. The Flame and the Flower is a close second, but Shanna is amazing! I can only hope someday I'll find my Ruark.

Summary: One star is even too much for this junk
Review: After hearing from a friend that this was a great book, I gave it a try. I found the story line absurd, the characters stupid. After about 50 pages, I threw the book down, gagging and wondering how anyone can waste time with this drivel. A big waste of good paper and such. Who buys this junk, anyway? We need to educate our kids to read better stuff than this. Educators, do you hear???

Summary: Just wonderful how Shanna felt in love with Ruark
Review: After "The Flame and the Flower" this is my second favorite book of Kathleen. A wonderful love story of a former time. Where can we meet men like Ruark?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: the most enthralling book i have ever read,a complete joy.
Review: this book transports you from the hectic liffe of today,to an other time, when things were simplier.Love was love for loves sake, no hidden agendas like today.Wish all ladies could be fortunate to find their Ruark. Please continue to write, I love them all. But Shanna is definiately my favorite. Ms. Woodiwiss excells in writing of another time in history. Able to take you from today, back to a time when ladies were ladies, and men were definiately men, and you didn't confuse the two at all. My wish is that she continues to write, and we get to enjoy the fruits of her labor. C. Toth, Milford, Ct.
