Summary: Fast moving paranormal romance
Review: Isabella is desperate to help her imprisoned brother. The only person who can help her is the mysterious Don Nicolai DeMarco. There are many strange rumors about the very mysterious and powerful man, but Isabella has no where else to turn. The Don agrees to help her in return for her hand in marriage. She has no problems with this, but something evil seems to be trying to harm her and Nicolai, and she wonders if she will survive to see her beloved brother again.

I don't normally go for this type of fiction, but this book kept my interest from beginning to end. The author is a gifted storyteller and the characters very vivid. Good book.

Summary: Lair of the Lion
Review: I did not enjoy it nearly as much as the "Dark" Series. I thought the hero in the Lair of the Lion a rather whiney tiresome fellow.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Monotonous
Review: Engaging characters and great descriptions, but the plot was monotonous and very repetitive. Every chapter revolved around the same scenario. Heroine is stalked by something/someone, heroine "feels" an evil presence, heroine is injured/terrorized/trapped in some fashion, hero rushes to the rescue and saves the day.

Taken individually each chapter is great, but when the same thing happens over and over again it just gets boring...

Summary: Do not waste your time or money!
Review: The story starts out alright, however, takes a noise dive quickly thereafter! A real disappointment by Christine Feehan. Perhaps she needs a much needed break from writing to think of better story lines and plot twists? I know she is capable of better than this. Hopefully her next book will prove it so!

Summary: just not up to par
Review: after reading christine feehan's acclaimed "Dark Series" i considered her an author's whose style i liked and so thought any book, even outside her dark series, would be good. but sadly i'm finding that not to be true. "Liar of the Lion" left me dissappointed and feeling cheated.

The story of Isabella Vernaducci who seeks Don Demarco out to ask for help to free her brother intrigued me at frist. Isabella is a determined woman who has lost everything when her father died and her estate was given to a cold, ruthless man and her brother deemed a traitor. Don Demarco agrees to help Isabella if she will marry him. She agrees without hesitation but she doesn't know of the horrible curse that plagues the Demarco family or the mysterious valley he lives in.

i found both good and bad in this book. for the good: Isabella is a likeable enough character who doesn't take [stuff] from anyone but is innocently naive enough to warm anyone's heart. her relationship with don demarco is as hot as it comes with many passionate scenes. no one has ever accused mrs. feehan's works of being tame in that respect. There are several scenes when don demarco's possessiveness pops up in interesting ways that are also a trade mark of feehan's writing.

but.... these things were offset by so many things that just had me rolling my eyes. First off the presence of lion's in an italian valley was so far fetched, even for a gothic novel, that for me it took away from the story though i could have looked past it if the story had been better. much of the dialogue outside of the bedroom scenes was melodramatic and sounded forced. for every great scene that had me applauding feehan as an author there were two that had me cringing. the scenes were isabella must reason with the servants that a "manelovent force" was the cause for various people's behavior involves many long winded speechs that seem unneccessary and take the suspense of the novel down quite a few notches. The only real tension in this book is between the hero and herione and even that seems lame and isabella offers everything freely to the don. he instead forces her away and then calls her back so many times i felt like screaming.

a somewhat original plot here is weighed down by blame dialogue, fairly two-dimensional characters and so many improbabilities that i found the book making it's way into the pile for my local used book store. it just wasn't something i thought was worth keeping. is it good for an afternoon read? yeah sure, but would i spend {my hard earned money] for it again? no. it just wasn't up to par with her other works. if you want a better version of this book check out "the scarletti curse" or better yet any of her "dark series" books.

Summary: Couldnt put it down
Review: I have never really took the time to read any romance novel because they could never hit the gothic feel I like in a book. This author has changed all that for me. I picked this up on a whim, I could not put it down for a second! I was hooked within the first pages! I look forward reading more books by this author and intend to read this one over and over again.

Summary: Great Story
Review: This story was real good. Now the last 10 pages killed the story completely, it was to rushed and I was not satisfy with the ending, what happen? I still gave it 5 stars because in general the book was great, the ending was just bad. If you work so hard for the story to be good please Mrs. Feehan take the time to give it a good ending.

Summary: so-so
Review: I bought this book because of the Beauty and the Beast story line. Even though I had to give this book three stars, my problem wasn't with the characters. I must give the author her due, she did a credible job of creating the beast, Nikolai. She has successfully shown both the physical and psychological torment of this character. Isabella, as well, was well drawn.

My problems with the book arise with Nikolai and Isabella relationship and with the "entity". The relationship between the hero/heroine wasn't developed well. There just wasn't enough interaction outside of bed. What is supposed to be love, is instead shown to be a healthy dose of lust.

My other problem is with the "entity". At first the curse was supposed to have been cast by a ancestor of the hero, but in the 18th chapter, Feehan opens up another theory (that the entity's influence led to the casting of the curse), that either should have been explored or left out of the book entirely. So whether the Sophia brought up the entity or just the curse, or if they are one and the same, was fairly ambiguous.

All in all, it wasn't a horrible book, but it wasn't great either.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I have bought almost all of Christine Feehan's book, and she's usually right on the money with mixing horror and romance. However, this was just a bad idea from the start. Similar to The Scarletti Curse (another disappointing endeavour), we have a male character who lives in a castle somewhere, and who has an ancient curse that makes everyone hate him. But, then his curse turns out to be something just silly. Lions in the winter in Italy?

And, why is it that this curse is so bad? He can turn into a lion. In most books, that would be considered a superpower, not a curse.

And, finally, the climax of the book (the breaking of the curse) left me cold. It actually made me giggle when I imagined it.

Stick to vamps, Christine. That's where your true talent lies.
