Rating: Summary: Riotous Brit Romance Review: Though the plot of this book exemplifies the typical romantic comedy stereotype, it was nonetheless an entertaining commentary on the hilarity of the fears, expectations and doubts in romantic and platonic relationships. If you enjoy satirical writing and cheeky British humor, then this is a great read!
Rating: Summary: really fun book Review: well written, fun, easy to read, well developed characters. plus an intellectual element and interesting look into the world of publishing and writing.
Rating: Summary: Just Terrific Review: What a gem! This book is not only funny, touching and original, it's also got a thriller-like, page-turning plot. The book also features a collection of terrific settings - Sisman knows both the England manor house and gritty New York perfectly. This is one that gets put on the special shelf to be read a second time.
Rating: Summary: Just Friends Review: When I first picked up this book I wasn't sure whether I would be able to get through the entire thing without loosing interest. The synopsis wasn't entirely engaging, but I thought I would give it go. Right away Sisman was able to capture my attention with, Freya the main character of the book. Her dynamic personality and realistic characterisics were believable and loveable. The author allowed me to be able to see into all of the characters heads arousing empathy within me for each of them. I recommend this novel.
Rating: Summary: Sisman - Just Friends Review: When you look at a novel like Just Friends, you know from the beginning what you're getting yourself into. What do you expect to happen when two close friends, one male, the other female, shack up with each other? Unfortunately, Just Friends didn't deliver on its promise...at least, until it was too late. There's always a certain amount of...what's the word...angst in friends-destined-to-be-lovers comedies like these. But because our future couple clearly wasn't even interested in one another until late in the novel, that angst was missing from the first three quarters of the book. That said, this was a well-written and amusing novel. The characters were well established and portrayed, dialog was crisp and realistic and the settings executed perfectly. Overall, Just Friends was a very entertaining read. Just a little light on the angst.
