Rating: Summary: Good, Simple and Direct Review: It is one of the best hypnotherapy book I had ever read. It is simple and direct. I can read thru' it in 1 to 2 hours but I can use the techniques for life.I particularly like the repeating important points from time to time. You know, hypnosis is repetition and compounding. Compound your suggestions can make them work better. Repeating those important points make my remembering easier and deeeeeeeeper. I am a NLP Trainer in Hong Kong for years and I will use much of the material in this book to improve my training content. Hoping the authors won't mind my doing so. Dr. Keith To
Rating: Summary: Interesting material but a slow read Review: It took me a long time to plow through the material in this book. The author's writing style is laborious and tedius. Like many of the newer hypnosis books on the market, it is a rewrite of the existing best seller's like Elman's Hypnotherapy whom have come before. It is not written for a beginner. I would recommend saving money and picking up Dave Elman's Hypnotherapy, Hypnotherapy written by Kevin Hogan or Hypnotherapy by Roy Hunter. John Watkin's books regarding Hypnotherapy and War Trauma illustrated with casework will provide the hypnosis practitioner as well as the layman with a well grounded foundation in the subject.
Rating: Summary: Some quite useful information but.... Review: mostly a rehash of free articles available on the author's website and a promotion tool to sign up for his 5 Path training. There is pratical and useful descriptions of organizing your practice and making good initial impressions.
The author describes the first 2 of his 5 "paths" including age regreassion in great detail and then invites the reader to sign up for training to learn about the final 3 paths. I respect Mr. Banyan as a hynotherapist and businessman, but writing is clearly not his best talent. This book is poorly written and there are several typos, which is unprofessional looking. The author has also employed a hypnotic writing technique at the start of each chapter that states everything "you will learn" in the following chapter. It is annoying and time consuming. I don't want to be told what I will learn, just give me the information.
While the book has some merit, most of the information can be gatehred by reading the free articles on his website.
Rating: Summary: Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Review: Often the best advice seems too simple to follow and we miss it.This book has it all. Read the book once and then go back over it in detail.. Cal does a great job...he misses nothing out. You want to use age regression in your practice ? read this book, you want to get a good depth of hypnosis with every client ? read this book. What I really liked is that the author doesnt presume that anything is too basic to put in print...and even when we do know, habits of omission can form...When things go wrong in anything we often hear "GO BACK TO BASICS " This book has it all as advertised " Basic to advanced Techniques for the professional"
Rating: Summary: how to be a successful bartender posing as a therapist Review: Robert Baker wrote in, They Call It Hypnosis, "Hypnosis does not exist, has never existed in the past, and will not exist in the future." Either the author of this pseudoscience has not read it, or has the same, "If the marks will buy it, what does it matter if it is disinformative?" indifference to reality as the TV networks. Forty years of touring with successful concert hypnotists who also practised hypnotherapy has left not the slightest doubt in my mind that Baker is right.
Rating: Summary: A Life saving book, literally! Review: Some books inform, lots of theory. Some, relate history of what the author has either heard or read somewhere else. And some, merely feeds the ego of the author. Cal Bnyan's book is none of the above, yet contains so much more. After getting the book, I immediately went to work with my aunt, who has cancer of the breast. From the little that I got from the book, I manage to move my aunt very quickly from desperation to a state of frustration and finally to a state of hope. All in two sessions. The Age Regression was particularly powerful and she managed to uncover layers and layers of surpressed emotions that have been swept under for so long. After the minimal 2 session that I did with her, all she could do was to continuously say thank you and kept shaking my hand. I could sense the deep gratitude she has. Sometimes, its comforting to know that you have just the right tools to help those who are really in need and thanks to the book, I can say that the techniques do work. This does not come from me, but from an aunt who is suffering from breast cancer. She is the best judge as to whether it works or not. I still have trouble believing her, myself. My only wish was that the author could have covered even more about the topics of Forgiveness of Others and Forgiveness of Self, perhaps also a bit on Parts Therapy, as mentioned in the book. I think if that is available, my aunt could have moved on even further now towards wellness. Thanks Cal for the 'life saving book'. I for one will be keeping a look out for volume 2 of the book. Verdict - buy the book, but more importantly use it to help others. Thanks!
Rating: Summary: High Quality Tools for Serious Hypnotherapists Review: This book is like one of those great shiny red carts on wheels with a lift up top and pull out drawers filled with tools. Well organized and well-written the material is accessible and useable, an essential book for every serious hypnotherapist's library. In addition to providing information on effectively engaging in the practice of hypnosis and hypnotherapy, the book provides great tips on building that practice.
Rating: Summary: a little misleading Review: This book is obviously professionally written. The only contention I had with the book was that it was misleading in the description that it explains how to preform hypnosis. It does not do that. This book is written for the professional Hypnotherapist and not a novice person who wants to gain an understanding on how hypnosis works and is performed. The book essentially explains what things you can do to better your skills once you attain the basics of hypnosis/hypnotherapy. It goes on about how you can use such and such method to each a desired outcome but assumes you know how to perform that method. So it is definately not a beginners book. With that said, the reviews are correct in saying that it is written in a style for everyone to understand. It is very readable and well written.
Rating: Summary: An Informative handbook -a must for a personal library Review: This book is well written. This book is not a novel,or thriller. It is for those who are interested in this age old science of hypnosis. The author's Simplicity of the language makes it easier for younger readers of diverse ethnic cultures to grasp concepts & understand the subject in depth, as well as for many whose first language is NOT ENGLISH. This book gives insights to students, professionals alike, as well as to many who may feel inclined to take up the study of hypnosis / hypnotheraphy for whatever reason. I look forward to reading more books written by this author. The author does not mince words, maybe repeatative, but I personally feel that is because the Author is driving a point 'home'!
Rating: Summary: A Treasury of Helpful Information Review: This book truly is packed with a multitude of tips, tricks, and techniques for the practicing hypnotherapist! As a practicing PhD psychologist, I have never encountered a book so easy to read, yet so filled with incredible insights into the workings of the mind and the art of hypnotherapy. In a refreshing, conversational tone, Banyan clearly explains each step of his approach, guiding the reader gently through the process, almost guaranteeing success! I have no doubt but that this brilliantly written work will become a classic in the field!
