Rating: Summary: Find out more about yourself by reading this book Review: This book got me thinking. What if my whole life was on camera and people were watching my every move. My whole life would be a lie, just like the main character in "Running Out Of Time" Margaret Peterson Haddix. In one chapter she had to get past guards. I'm sure I couldn't do that, but she managed. She managed because her family was at risk. I thought this was a good book and you would to. It had lots of things going on but that is part of why it was so good. If you want to find out more of why it was so good, you have to read the book. This book makes you appreciate what you have. I used to think everyone has a house, but they don't and I appreciate that I have a house. I also appreciate that I get to take a ride in a car because when you think about it some people don't have that opportunity. The main character faces something like this where she doesn't get to see the real world until they needed help. So read this book and you might find out more about yourself.
Rating: Summary: Running out of time was good Review: "You mean we aren't really living in the year 1840? What is a car? A radio? A television?" These questions are asked by Jessie, a small girl trapped in a tourist site while there is a diptheria epidemic going on. I think this is the best book I have ever read, because suspense builds up at every corner.
Rating: Summary: Hard to believe. Review: We read this book as a novel group (6 fourth and fifth graders). It was hard for us to believe the concept of the founding of Clinton Village. Who would set up a community to experiment with people's lives, intending to kill off at least one generation? We did like the adventures Jessie had after she escaped out of Clifton. The fat environmentalist she met right outside of Clifton became one of our favorite characters. He played a "bit part" but he hepled Jessie by scaring her into not drinking water, it saved her form later being poisoned by the fake Mr. Neeley. We would read this book again to pick up some of the detail that we may have missed the first time. We like how all of the pieces fit together at the end of the story like a puzzle. But we found the end of the book disappointing, it felt like a quick stop instead of a well thought out conclusion.
Rating: Summary: Sweet but also Dark. Review: I thought this book was a great mix of fiction, a little science fiction, and lots of excitement. It drags in the beginning, and strange (in a not so good way) at the end, but Jessie's adventure escaping Clifton Village and revealing its' problems at the news conference made it an adrenaline pumping novel. I mean who wouldn't read a sweet, dark novel! P.S. I probably wouldn't read it again.
Rating: Summary: Exciting and entertaining for both young and old Review: My daughter was assigned this book to read in a book club she belongs to. After reading the description on the back, I decided to read it also. So while she was away at science camp I got busy. I was glued to the book from the beginning! My husband couldn't believe that I was so facinated with my daughters school assinment. I found the info on the 1800's and Jessie's confusion of the late 1900's facinating. She showed true spunk and spirit and excellent moral character for a young teen. I was facinated with all the twists and turns in the plot. After my daughter got home from camp and began the book she was hooked too. Thank you Margaret Peterson Haddix. You have 2 new loyal fans.

Rating: Summary: I haven't finished yet, but so far it's good Review: I haven't finished this book yet, but so far it is very good. It is about a girl named Jessie who lives in a Clifton (a town). She truly thinks that the year is 1840. Then she finds out that it is really 1996 outside of Clifton's walls. The kids in Clifton are getting sick with diphtheria, and Jessie must venture out of Clifton to get medicene for them. I think that it is a very creative idea, and that, if you haven't already read it, you should.

Rating: Summary: Running Out of Time Review: "Here everything's like it wasin the 1800's," Ma said slowly. "Outside it's"... Ma seemed to be counting in her mind, "Outside it's 1996" For a long moment, Jessie couldn't say anything. How could it be 1996? Jessie's mind felt jumbled. It wasn't 1840 last year and it wasn't 1839 and... Jessie was told that she is living in a historical preserve and there is a terrible disease going around. The disease these days isn't really a disease, but back in the 1800's they had no modern medicine to cure diphtheria. Jessie, a thirteen-year-old was sent on a mission to get help for curing diphtheria in Clifton Villiage, a historical preserve based in the 1800's where Jessie lived. Everyone was getting this terrible disease. The people, or "Clifton's Men", as I should call them, wouldn't give Clifton's people modern medicine to cure this disease. As you read you will learn what haoppens on this brave and daring teenager's mission. This book was a wonderful book. The author did a great job. I loved how the author leads up to how it was really 1996. The clues are fabulous. This book is very suspensful. If you like books that have alot of tension in them then Running Out of Time is the book for you!
