Rating: Summary: Leave China Alone Review: ...I think this book is the purenes of hypocrisy, self serving purpose and other ulterior motives, in a way to erase the memories of the clinton's failures, deciet and lies in the mind of the people.
Rating: Summary: What does she take us for? Review: COME ON! LET'S BE REAL!! Giving Senator Clinton her due respect and in many regards, she is worthy of respect in terms of intelligence, peer review, etc., but this book is so self-serving it is beyond reproach. First of all, I am a right-wing conservative and I make it a normal practice to read books and articles from the "other side," for no reason other then to maintain a perspective. I never want to be accused of being closed-minded. So it was with an open mind I borrowed "Living History" from my local library, (books on CD), never one to actual "fund" the other side!! :-) The bottom line is according to Hillary, I am to believe the Monica Lewinsky was Bill's FIRST INCIDENT! As he never explained his 1992 60 Minutes interview response, "I have caused pain in our marriage." It is generally accepted in both camps that Bill is a womanizer. Hillary lost all credibility when she claimed Gennifer Flowers' accusations were fabricated, so was Paula Jones, so was Trooper-Gate, so was File-Gate, so was WhiteWater, so was her Commidities "investment" of $1000 to $100,000 was just pure luck and timing, so was Jim McDougal's shady investments, and on and on and on. For the bright and intellegent people that the Clintons are, they sure are a poor judge of people's character. And not just people they recently met, these are LONG TIME friends. All I can say...if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, smells like a duck, GUESS WHAT FOLKS, IT'S A DUCK!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Way to go, Girl !!! Review: I found this book to be very well written, and easy to read and understand. Hillary leaves no stones unturned when it comes to defending the President and her anger with the right wing political conservatives and Christian Right who bashed Bill. An insightful look at the struggles the Clinton's and the Clinton Administration went through (endured). The Clinton's have a strong marriage inspite of, or perhaps because of, all the attacks and underhanded tactics of the Right Wing Conspiracy. Not that it's any of our business. Hillary does appear a little too stiff in public, but this book really gives you a sense of a friendly, caring and compassionate woman. She must be doing something right, as she beat all the odds makers by becoming a Senator from New York. A must read for all thinking and caring women (men, too!)
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but lacking....something Review: I admit it. I'm a Clinton fan. So I was greatly anticipating the release of Ms. Clinton's new book. It was an interesting read, but it seemed like 1/2 the book was "the early years". Which, I understand, is important to set the stage, but enough stage setting. More about the White House years would have been better. She did speak quite a bit, and rather candidly, about "the incident!" (which one...you ask...) and I got a great insight into the tremendous things she has done in her career, alot of which I was unaware of. I was able, as a Clinton fan, to read and reaffirm the good things Bill Clinton as a president did for this country. Sure, he made some mistakes. But we all do. And who are we to sit in judgment? My MOST surprising revelation, however, was that she barely had 2 sentences referring to the 9/11 tragedy. After all, Hillary Clinton was a NEW YORK SENATOR at the time. And at the time 9/11 happened, she was writing this book. Many events in the later chapters happened after 9/11. But there was maybe 2 sentences referring to 9/11. She didn't even mention how it changed her life, what it meant to her as a representative of NEW YORK, nothing! I really expected that 9/11 would have been a very defining moment in her life and career, but merely a mention of the incident. This dissapointed me. I did however, gain alot of insight into her history with Bill and an understanding of why she loved this man, and stayed with him, no matter what his flaws may be. This is true love. Many have judged her and said she only stayed with him for her career, but reading in her own words, you get a wonderful insight into a truly remarkable lady. She genuinely cares about children and causes close to children and these are the reasons she has been so successful and such an asset to this country. Summary-Disappointing on some issues, but a GREAT read! (to clarify: it's worth the money!)

Rating: Summary: Boring, Self-Censored. Review: Someone who's still a politician, thinking of running for President, is obviously not going to be very candid and honest. That's exactly what you get in this book. It's boring because it's obviously self-censored, and you wonder how much is spin and how much is true. Borrow it from a library and save your money.
Rating: Summary: A Rare Breed: A Leftie who doesn't like the Clintons Review: One of the most baffling occurences in recent history is the outright worship by professed "left wingers" of the Clintons. Bill Clinton was one of the most pro corporate presidents in history. His record on the environment is abyssmal. He bombed a medical supplies plant for political gain, he committed perjury and was given a slap on the wrist (Joe Citizen would be in jail. It's a felony folks). He was one of the most dishonest, pro-rich, presidents in history. But of course, we hear none of that in this book. I think the title should be changed to "Making up History". Mrs. Clinton pays lip service to progressive causes, yet look at her Senate voting record. It isn't a leftist voting record. The late Sen. Wellstone's record was a progressive record. Hillary looks like a Republican. If you are a Clinton worshipper, get this book by all means and bring it with you to your temple. Right wingers I'm sure will avoid this book like the plague, I'm sure. True leftists can avoid this book with no regrets.
Rating: Summary: Empowering -- Modern Day Eleanore Roosevelt Review: Hillary Clinton embodies empowerment of the disenfrenchised, lifts the spirits of the down-trodden, and helps us look to a fulfiulling future. Refusing to be another "June Cleaver" or God forbid "Harriet Nelson", Hillary speaks for those who want to progress rather than regress. Battled by bafoons bearing mud, Hillary always traveled the high road, extending an olive branch to bitter adversaries. Dealing with problems behind closed doors. Mrs. Clinton maintained a positiveness and a passion for the good that is out there, waiting to be discovered. Relentlessly fighting for the little man and woman in America, the Clintons have been attacked and falsely accused of everything but skinny dipping. The GOP cronies went as far as wasting $60M on a witch-hunt that netted an impeachment for the most effective president since FDR. None of this could dampen the smile of this fine lady, a true First Lady of this great nation. Now the Junior Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton is influencial in bringing about more change, and helping to repair the damage caused by our current administration. Perhaps she will one day take the highest step and inspire the world as the first female to be given the keys to the White House. She certainly is living history, a brighter future she helped create.*****
Rating: Summary: Get to know Hil a little Review: Why do so many people loath this woman so much?! She comes across as being very intelligent, has a sense of humor and seems to actually care about our nation. I confess, I only bought a copy of this book to see what would happen when Tucker Carlson had to watch it reach the 1 million mark. But I picked it up because Hillary's response to him on Crossfire was so gracious when it actually happened. The book has some boring parts and is occassionally over explanitory, but it also has some parts that are very interesting. Did you know Hillary used to be a - Republican? If not it is worth a read.
Rating: Summary: Living a Made-up, Contrived History -- As Usual! Review: Perhaps "laughable" is the most accurate description of the absurd accounts in this book -which the manipulative Clinton #2 is trying to pass-off as "history". My initial reaction was outrage at her audacity ... however, when I calmed down -- something occurred to me -- isn't this what we should have anticipated from her? It's so hard to accept that she expects the reader to believe that she was actually shocked when finding out about the Lewinsky sexual affair. The book is filled with one lie after another .... and to think some people support her.
