Rating: Summary: A great book of life back then. Review: Maniac Magee is a great book. I have read it three times. Maniac Magee's real name is Jeffrey Magee. Everyone calls him Maniac Magee because he does anything and goes anywhere. This book took place back when blacks and whites where seperated by a street. It's about a boy whose parents had died in a train crash and his family didn't want to take care of him so he was on his own. Then he met a girl that carried a suitcase of books. She found that he had no place to live. So he lived with them for a little while. It caused to many problems because he was white and they were black so he decided to leave without telling them where he went. Then he lived with a guy in a shed. He was a really nice guy who did everything he could for Jeffrey. Then something bad happened. If you would like to know what happened then read this book. I enjoyed it and I think you would too!
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK STINKS!!! Review: This story is so stupid. It's about some little kid who wanders around doing diddly squat! I mean, come on here people, can't you at least write something better than this!
Rating: Summary: Maniac McGee is a legend in my 4th grade classroom. Review: Maniac McGee is on my list of books that I must read aloud to my fourth graders every year. The language and plot attract the attention of the most disinterested students. When I have finished reading the book, students beg to borrow one of my several copies or make a bee line to the library to check it out. I've had several boys in the past who said they hated reading, get their start on this book. The book is an excellent springboard for teaching compassion, tolerance, and understanding. For that, I'll do whatever it takes. Thanks, Jerry Spinelli!!! In years past, we've written songs, stories, and poems about Maniac. I have a unit planned for Maniac beginning soon. No matter how many times I've read the book, I still look forward to introducing it to my students.
Rating: Summary: Much Imagery Review: Story line and characters are great. The actual writing is very, very burdensome due to the inordinate amount of imagery. It was for my child's 6th grade summer reading. She struggled through it.
Rating: Summary: Great Book For All Review: If everyone, children and adults, adopted Maniac's beliefs about mankind, many of our problems would be eliminated. Jerry Spinelli gives us a terrific role model with Maniac. You will enjoy this book a lot!
Rating: Summary: A Great Accomplishment Review: A book that all children should read before finishing grammar school. The book is a masterpiece of young adult literature
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK!! Review: This book is exciting, sad, and very good. He did alot of great things. This is the best book I have ever read! You don't ever want to put this book down!
Rating: Summary: Too Slow for me. Review: This book wasn't the best. It was too slow at times. It did have some good parts but I wouldn't read it again.
Rating: Summary: A VERY GOOD BOOK. Review: Maniac Magee is a great book; it is just a little distant at certain parts. I think the book is wonderful and it deserves 5 stars. I would recomend it for ages 8-12. (Or 100%)
Rating: Summary: A some what good book Review: Maniac Magee was a some what good book. It is really interesting in the begining of the book. When you read on, it gets into too much detail. If you are involved in the Accelerated Reader program, the questions are very hard and your chances of passing are very slim. I only got 4 questions right and failed the test.
