Summary: Skip the audiobook this time!
Review: I love Wally Lamb but this abridgement left a string of tragic events behind and took away all of the detail and character development. I actually grew to hate the reader!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book should be required reading in high schools.
Review: Wally Lamb is in my opinion in the rank of great writers who include Truman Capote. Like Truman Capote Mr. Lamb draws us into the lives of the charcters hypnotically. His writting is so believable it's hard not to believe that it is not a fact based story. There are so many socially relevent themes going on at once (racisim, spousal abuse, mental illness, sexual and physical abuse) that it should be required reading for high school.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Not a book to borrow from the Library but one to own.
Review: The single most impressive thing about Wally Lamb is his ability to create complete and believable characters that obviously are not from his own personal experience. He did it in She's Come Undone as a woman with an eating disorder, and again in I Know This Much Is True as the twin brother of a schizophenic struggling to free himself from the ties of his past while reluctantly coming to accept them at the same time. Wally Lamb's characters are compelling because they have a truth to them that is clear and complete. Although people have commented on the "very tidy"ending, it is an ending that is altogether believable because you could follow the processes of each character with a clear understanding of how they got there. I know this will be a favuorite book for a long time and the second reading it is even better than the first.

Summary: Good Page Turner
Review: I give this four stars because I am prejudicial about giving five out. But it is a great book. I read it in the course of a weekend, becuase it was impossible to put down. I thought, upon reading the plot summary, that it was going to be a cheesy book about how crappy this particular person's life is due to the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father (what a boring plot. It's been done to death), but this book is really about this man's struggle to separate from his twin, while at the same time his yearning to be closer to him. The book is artfully written, and the characters seem almost real. Even the bimbo girlfriend. What more can I say? Read the book.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: One of the best books I have ever read. I loved the writing style of this book and got deeply into it right away. The set up of plots in this story were so creative and all fell together so well. The characters were all so incredible and real life. When it came to the part of the book that began as Domenico Tempesta's story, I was upset to have to leave Domenic's story. Then once I would finish the portions of his grandfather's story, I was upset to have to leave that story to go back to Domenic's because they both take you right in and would stop with such cliffhangers! I was very sad to reach the end of the book. This book stays with you and seems so well written, that you can't help but wonder if some of it could be true. What an imaginitive and talented writer. I could have happily read another books worth of this story.

Summary: Excellent writing and a wonderful story
Review: I read this book twice in the past 6 months and it was even better the second time. You grow to love Dominick Birdsey and Thomas as well. Not every one can write a 900 page book that keeps you wanting to turn the page. A must read for anyone who has relationships with people. It is an excellent novel and I'll probably be reading it again. This is the second Wally Lamb book which I've read and She's Come Undone is written just as well.

Summary: this is a truly great American novel
Review: I just completed I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE, and I believe this is the finest American novel (making it the finest novel period) that I've read Since THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP. I admire Wally Lamb's talents, although "admire" is far too small a word for what I feel.

As a writer myself, one who struggles to capture voice, to weave a coherent plot around characters and themes which are large and meaningful, I marvel at Wally Lamb's artistry. For 900 pages, he invites the reader into a world of pain, growth, horror and suffering that we gladly, willingly walk through with him.

Wally Lamb's capturing of the world of the mentally ill is flawless--his portrait of the suffering of not just the sick person, but of that person's loved ones and family is perfectly nuanced and marvelously rendered.

My congratulations to Wally Lamb for his creation of I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE. It is an almost perfect novel, and I recommend it with the highest possible sense of appreciation and confidence in its greatness.

Summary: The best book I have ever read!
Review: I found this book a little slow to get into, but it quickly turns into a can't put down, stay up until 3:00am and no tv for 2 weeks kind of book! Wally lamb has written this book beautifully. The charachters are well developed and realistic. They become a part of your life. This book is one you can really sink your teeth into, it stays with you so much so that you need time before going onto another. I have recommended this to everyone I know. Wally lamb has a new fan!

Summary: Heart Wrenching Book
Review: I knew at the begining of this book that I wouldn't be able to put it down. Wally Lamb has written the best book I have ever read. It may have been long, I only wish it could have been 900 more pages. A book that grips the heart and stirs the soul!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The reader is easily drawn into this excellent novel.
Review: I loved this book - probably even more that She's Come Undone. It was hard to put down, and well worth the time it took to read. It is so well developed and imaginative, that I found myself wondering if any of it was based on real experiences of the author or his acquaintances (who could make this up?).
