Rating: Summary: Brain Candy Review: I read this in an afternoon over coffee. A delightful way to pass a few hours. I've heard many people talk about the plot twists in relation to Patterson's other novels--not being familiar with them, I thought that this book captured the true nature of life and relationships. Things can change in a second! I truly enjoyed the theme of "isn't it lucky" that was repeated throughout the diary portions of the book.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down Review: Very fast read. Definite page turner. Finished the last fifty pages at a major league baseball game with tears in my eyes. Almost missed a grand slam.
Rating: Summary: GREAT READ Review: One of the best books I've read lately. It is interesting from the first page and keeps you riveted throughout. Beautifully written and ultimately gut-wrenching. Read it!!
Rating: Summary: An all-nighter! Review: I love James Patterson's books so when I saw that he had a "romance" out, I had to give it a try. All I can say is that I was totally hooked from page one! I started reading yesterday evening and could not put down until it was finished!!! The story is about a gal named Katie who cannot figure out why her new love, Matt, has just ditched her. Well, he leaves her a diary written by Suzanne to her baby, Nicholas, to read. Katie, heartbroken, hopes that maybe the diary will shed some light on the mysterious Matt. The whole novel itself is a mystery in true Patterson form. We don't know why or how all of this can happen and are left guessing until the last pages. Be prepared for the gamut of emotions to break loose. It also would be advisable to have some tissues handy!I wonder if there are any Matts still available?
Rating: Summary: Very good change of pace! Review: I am a devoted (hooked?) reader of James Patterson. I really enjoy each of his mystery/thriller novels, closing each one with a "when's he putting another out" thought in my head. I have read each one, my favorites being "Jack and Jill" and "When the Wind Blows". When I first heard of this one, yes, my reaction was you-gotta-be-kidding. But even though I knew I wouldn't like it, I decided I had to read it simply because it was James Patterson. Imagine my great surprise when I realized it was really GOOD!!! He has done a very good job on this, hooking me in to the characters in the first five pages, and keeping me astounded at this man's ability to write very good novels, no matter what genre thy are. This is a great read for everyone, addicted to this writer or not!!
Rating: Summary: An Emotional Tear Jerker, and Profoundly Touching Review: SUZANNE'S DIARY FOR NICHOLAS is a book that my mom read, and she persisted that I do the same. When I finally got around to doing so, I had only gotten around to about the tenth page when I knew that I was hooked, and read it in one night. This novel is about a woman named Katie who finally found "Mr. Right", but one night he comes over to suposedly have a planned dinner at her house, only to leave early just after ending everything that the couple had. Katie is completley crushed, and left in the dark, feeling as if she will never find the light swith-until one day she recieves a package, from her former lover, and enclosed is a diary that he says will explain everything. As Katie starts to read Suzanne's diary for Nicholas, she quickly learns that Suzanne is Matt's wife, and Nicholas , his son. Surrounded by confusion, and enraged Katie starts a journey that grows bigger with every page she turns. Slowly, the pieces come together to form a heartbreaking story of unimaginable strength, and overwhelming love.
Rating: Summary: I Don't Like It At All Review: If you are a diehard James Patterson fan this is not the book for you. The plot was totally uninteresting. Why couldn't Matt tell Katie the truth he was sleeping with her and having a relationship with her why the lack of candor it boggles the mind. By the time I finishing reading this book I didn't feel sympathy for none of the characters in the book. James Patterson needs to stick to what he knows. Don't gets this book get Roses Are Red instead.
Rating: Summary: An interesting concept, poorly written Review: Let me start off by saying that I'm not unromantic, but this supposedly romantic novel made me feel unromantic. What did me in with this novel? For starters, it was just poorly written. But add to this: a complete lack of thought-provoking ideas, sap so thick that you could boil it and make maple syrup, and a completely uninteresting plot. I enjoyed the diary concept that the author employed in this book. But save yourself the trouble and rent a movie. I can almost guarantee that you'll get more out of it.
Rating: Summary: Overly sentimental Review: This book is predictable, sappy and way too long. Use your time reading something else.
Rating: Summary: Love Patterson Style Review: I have always loved James Patterson's work on a number of levels. Most importantly, he is a wonderful story teller....his delivery smooth and easy which for suspense novels is quite a remarkable feat. And personally, I like how Mr. Patterson keeps his chapters focused and short....somethng I appreciate as a traveller on the NYC subway system. Who wants to stop in the middle of a chapter? On to the book.... Quite a new direction Mr Patterson is going in.....a beautiful love story while giving every reader sound life lessons in the process. I read this book in one sitting.....for its light and breezy as a summer's day. Being a hopeless romantic, I enjoyed the relationship between Suzanne and Matt....and Nicholas. While I was hoping for a different ending.....it is really the diary that takes center stage...as it should...and it is first rate. With the current state of the nation with the terrorist attacks in the U.S.....I think this is a book that people should read to see what is really important in life. To those who lost loved ones in the wake of the terrorist attack, my sympathy......we will overcome.
