Rating: Summary: Definitely worth reading!! Review: This is my first novel by Mr. Patterson but it took my breath away!!! I just wonder how some readers think of it as "unrealistic" cause my husband usually say things like Matt does in the novel. Unless you're not happy who you're with. It will make you realize how you view your life in connection with "juggling the 5 balls". Give it to your friends and family. A must-buy!!
Rating: Summary: Heartbreaking and Uplifting Review: I really enjoyed this book. I actually stayed up late to finish it. Some of the parts were a little sappy, but overall, a story I don't think I will ever forget. Keep some tissues nearby while reading.
Rating: Summary: This book reads like a bad movie. Review: I was looking forward to reading James' new book; I liked his Alex Cross books (but I stopped after "Roses are Red" because I was disappointed) and I was hoping to enjoy "Diary". Unfortnately, I was disappointed once again. I couldn't care about any of the characters - they were too unbelievable and unreal. It's complete formula and I feel James has sold out to his readers. What a shame.
Rating: Summary: ROBIN Review: Very light reading. You will finish it in two days tops. I thought it was a wonderful and touching story. I passed it on to my mother-in-law and she loved it. Personally, I liked the fact that it takes place in Boston and Martha's Vineyard. Both very familiar to me. I think you will like it. It made me start a journal to my kids!!
Rating: Summary: Short, Sweet, Predictable Yet Endearing Review: This very quick read(however, which Patteson novel isn't?)and while the story is quite predictable, it was still very moving and enjoyable. While I liked all of the characters in the story, the idea of this idyllic living was a bit farfetched. Certainly not the real world as most people know it. I will continue to read James Patterson as soon as his novels are published.
Rating: Summary: Love Story Review: I have read several other James Patterson books and liked most of them. This one is completely different. It is the present day Love Story. Once I started reading it I couldn't pt it down. This is another one of those books that I want all my friends to read.
Rating: Summary: Women Beware Review: I agree with the reader from Columbus, OH -- what a sappy version of a love story! People don't really have these romantic expectations, do they? And do men really wake up their wives the way Matt did to Suzanne ("Good morning, Beautiful! We're off on a surprise trip today! Start packing!"). Then, why would a successful physician even be the slightest bit interested in pursuing her hired carpenter...without any thoughts of their differences or how their two careers will intertwine (it would at least have entered her mind in the beginning). And, I cannot for the life of me figure out WHY Matt doesn't have the guts to tell Katie about his past -- as if it was something he couldn't share with the woman he loved? Come on! He would have at least told her that his wife and son had died...and then refused to commit to her, instead of crying in the night without telling her why and then breaking up with her without any explanation whatsoever! Ok, then there's the end where Katie runs into his open arms and tells him she's pregnant, and he's so incredibly happy. Is this for real? Sorry, I guess I could tell right away it was written by a man.
Rating: Summary: The Worst Book I've Ever Read Review: Sappy, totally predictable, unrealistic, totally lacking the the true emotion of the story. The best part of the book was that it took less than two hours to read. There are very few male writers that can write from a woman's perspective. Wally Lamb is one, James Patterson isn't.
Rating: Summary: Will The Real James Patterson Please Return Review: Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas is a sweet love story, but it's not another Bridges Over Madison County which was a GREAT love story. The book was simply confusing and not at all worthy of Patterson at his best. Matt is the central character, who in the beginning has apparently broken the hearts of two women...Suzanne and Katie, the woman he has been having an affair with. As the "diary" unfolds we learn more of the gushy details of his life with Suzanne while Katie the most current girlfriend agonizes over his past. The "romantic" ending makes Matt look silly and transforms a good guy into a real sap. Please bring back Alex Cross and a wonderfully suspenseful series that James Patterson brought to life for his readers.
Rating: Summary: An okay rainy afternoon escape. Review: The story is somewhat predictable, and simple. That's not to say that when taken as such it can't be enjoyed in a couple of hours. I found it to be a quick read, that didn't take a lot of thought on my part. Perhaps if we had been given a chance to know either Katie or Suzanne I would have felt some sort of emotional stake in the story. As it was, so much time was spent fliping between the two, I never really cared that much what happened to them. At the end of the book I was still trying to figure out exactly who Katie was, what her past was and how she ended up where she did. It felt as if there is a really great screen play or a really good book in here somewhere. Sadly, for the most part I felt like I was reading a rough draft.
