Rating: Summary: Captivating Review: This is the first book that I have read in one sitting. It kept my interest going and the characters were very different but well described. Usually I can put a book down and come back to it, but this one made me want to see how it ended. I like James Patterson's books and this is another good one.
Rating: Summary: I was skeptical too.... Review: I hear he is writing a new book-GREAT! I hear that he is "straying from his usual style"-NOT great. Well I had the free time, and I DO love his work so...here goes. The bottom line is James Patterson is just simply a genuis when it comes to writing. From the first page, I'm riveted. From the first chapter, I can't stop turning the pages. What is going to happen? There's love, sorrow, joy, pain, new love, suspense (yes, really!), but most importantly true love. Just like his other books you can't wait to find out WHAT HAPPENS in the end...because it is never what you think. Same with this new creation of his...you can't WAIT to find out what happens. And when you do, you are still in for a bigger surprise. Its only when you read that ONE sentence and that tear has spilled over your eyelid and down your cheek...THEN and ONLY THEN will you know what has really happened...and then you will realize what a brilliant author this man is.
Rating: Summary: short and sweet Review: This little book really gets to you. I didn't know who to root for in this sentimental, but uplifting love story. Patterson can really write and I, for one, am glad that he tried a different genre.
Rating: Summary: Very Compelling, Quick Read Review: James Patterson's Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas is an excellent novel. It is a very touching and heart-wearming story. Both those who are fans of a good romance and those who are less fond of romantic novels will be touched by this story. It is also quite suspenseful. Once I started reading this book, I was unable to put it down. It reads quickly, so I suggest picking it up no matter how little spare time you have. You will have finished it and wishing for more before you know it!
Rating: Summary: Packaged Love Story Review: For those looking for a light read this book is for you. For ardent fans of stories by Robert James Waller, Nicholas Sparks and Nicholas Evans don't waste your money. This is the first book I have read by James Patterson and I was disappointed. It seemed to me that Mr. Patterson got 30 women in a room and did a focus group. They were asked questions including; 1)what their favorite spot to visit---okay Martha's Vineyard so that will be the setting, 2)What kind of woman should be in it?; let's make them strong but emotional, and 3)What are your favorite reads? let's include these in the storyline to make it contemporary. In a word--Packaged.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: This book was one I will keep dear to my heart. How anyone can say its bad is beyond me. It is not James Patterson's usual writing style but it was equally as good as his famous Alex Cross novels. This is a heartwarming book, despite its sad parts but who doesn't have sad parts in their real life. It reminds you to always been thankful of what you have, no matter how bad any situation gets. We have all, at one point or another, had an positive attitude and felt lucky but in the everydays of life, that attitude gets lost. This book reminds you of how to look at life and reminds how lucky you truly are. I recommend it to everyone. It brought tears to my eyes, warmth to my heart, and a reminder to my life. Thanks, Mr. Patterson, for another amazing book!
Rating: Summary: Isn't it lucky Review: Isn't it lucky that we have Suzanne's Diary to Nickolas to remind us how to count our blessing and to do it frequently. I did not find myself crying as others have reported they did when they read this book. Rather I found the story to have the hook of the Bridges of Madison County but with a much more optimistic and upbeat outlook. The story kept me totally engaged. To paraphrase, at about page 40 I found myself peaking ahead to see how many pages this book had, not because I wanted it to end but because I didn't. It has the page turning power of any of the Alex Cross books(and I've read them all). Those readers who appreciated the softer side of Alex Cross won't be disappointed. But don't expect a Cross type thriller, that it is not.
Rating: Summary: It was hard to believe, but he did it! Review: I'm used to seeing stuff like "Along Came A Spider" and "Jack and Jill." (The Alex Cross series) When I heard he was going to write a love story, I honestly didn't think that he could pull it off. Well, he had me surprised! Okay, this story wasn't all that moving, in fact at first it seemed like one of those "I like you, I like you too" type of story. But then you find out that its a story of hope. Even those who like his Thriller/Mystery novels, and Alex Cross series should give this a try. This may not seem like Patterson at first. But you notice that this is a good book. I really do think that you will enjoy this book. Though this is no Nicholas Sparks novel, from Patterson, I couldn't have hoped for more.
Rating: Summary: Touching Review: Being a big fan of James Patterson's work, I try and read everything he writes. This was the most touching love story I've ever read. It was so enjoyable I couldn't put it down. This is a must read for James Patterson's fan. A refreshing change of pace from a gifted writer!
Rating: Summary: Bring Back Alex Cross! Review: This has got to be the worst book I have read this year. Mr. Patterson, whose books I normally LOVE, has tried to write a romance novel a la Nicholas Sparks. The book goes back and forth between Katie (present time) and Suzanne's diary for Nicholas, whom we find out is Katie's boyfriend's wife and Nicholas is their son. Oh the angst, oh the unhappiness. Is it a tragic love story? Yes. Is there a happy ending? You'll have to read it to find out, however, I'd wait for the paperback or even just borrow it from the library. Nicholas Sparks fans may love this book, but that's iffy 'cause I liked Sparks first two novels and this is not up to par with those. I can respect Mr. Patterson for trying something new, but give it up! Go back to the thrillers! Thanks for reading! ~Pandora
