Rating: Summary: Absorbing love story Review: I read this in one day--it was so aborbing and I was anxious to find out what would happen next. There is a double plot shifting between Katie, a young woman whose boyfriend, Matt has just broken off the relationship and Suzanne, Matt's wife and the mother of their baby, Nicholas. The underlying question is why Matt is involved with Katie when he has such a wonderful wife and son--and Suzanne's diary reveals the secret and surprise ending (although there are hints throughout the diary). Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas would get five stars, except for the depiction of Matt's wife. She is just too perfect (great mother, ideal wife, caring doctor). I guess it was natural that Suzanne would present herself that way to her son, but still, I would have liked to have seen a more human character. If she had been given some of the qualities present in Katie, I would have liked her better as a character. Also, readers don't get too close a look at Matt for much of the book. Furthermore, Matt and Suzanne are not exactly your average couple and seem to be able to live "the good life" with expensive honeymoons, presents, and homes. Despite this, I highly recommend Suzanne's Diary; it is a great book to bring to the beach or take with you on a trip.
Rating: Summary: Thank you Mr Patterson!! Review: I have read all his books and Alex Cross is too good to be true. But "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" was such a different book. I smiled, I cried and felt everything else in between. Mr Patterson has shown that women aren't the only ones who can write about finding love, losing it and finding it again. I finished the book in less than 24 hours. I started on Friday & finished on Saturday. All I can say is thanks Mr Patterson for a beautiful love story.
Rating: Summary: Splendid work! Review: The was an amazing piece of work. Patterson has successfully written yet another mesmerizing page turner that you can't put down (read it in 4 hours). Please do not let the same team that brought "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider" adapt this to the big screen. It is too beautiful a story to befall that fate.
Rating: Summary: Simply Beautiful Review: This is the first book I have read in years that made me cry. It is a beautifully written story that is warm and full of love. I read this book in three hours on a Sunday afternoon and was wiping my eyes after finishing it. You are denying yourself a wonderful adventure if you don't read this book. Hurrah once again Mr. Patterson.
Rating: Summary: A Real Tear Jerker Review: I have really not been enjoying Patterson's most recent books so I did hesitate at first to buy this one but I thought I would give him another chance especially with a love story. Wow I could not believe that this was the same James Patterson. I could not put the book down until I finished it and I had a good cry. I thought it was beautiful.
Rating: Summary: Another great book from James Patterson!! Review: I have read every one of James Patterson's books. I love his Alex Cross novels. He has quickly become my favoite author. So, naturally, I had to read "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" as soon as it was available. I got it out of the library yeasterday and finished it this morning. This was a book that I literally could NOT put down. His transition from being the master of supsense to writing a romance novel was a very smooth one. His excellent delving into the emotions of Suzanne, Matthew, and Katie came straight from the heart. You could "feel" exactly what each character was feeling. It's been awhile since I read a book that brought me to tears simply by "knowing" the characters so well, but this book has done it for me. I feel as if I know each person in this book. This is a wonderful piece of work for Mr. Patterson. I only hope that he will use his talents to again write a book of this calibur.
Rating: Summary: What a BEAUTIFUL story!!! Review: This book was beautiful and moving. I could not put it down. I could relate to the heart ache Katie was facing and yet felt so connected to Suzanne at the same time. WOW if there were only a man like Matt out there for me! Patterson's account of the two relationships are so real and honest as well as the relationship with Nicholas. I don't usually read "love" stories but this book intrigued me and left me wanting a sequel! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Rating: Summary: Save your money!!! Review: I pre-ordered this book with great anticipation. James Patterson is one of my favorite authors and I was expecting a great book. I couldn't have been more disappointed. I was looking forward to Patterson's change of genre having been pleasantly surprised by John Grisham's, A Painted House. But unlike Grisham, Patterson's plot and characters have little substance and the outcome is totally predictable from page one. It is hard to believe Mr. Patterson wrote this book. It is more believable a high school student tried to imitate Nicholas Sparks or Robert James Waller and came up with a cross between A Message In A Bottle and The Bridges OF Madison County but failed miserably. So save your (money) and the 2 hours it takes to get through this book and wait for Mr. Patterson to go back to what he does best. Alex Cross where are you????
Rating: Summary: 'Unlucky' Sappy Drivel Review: One star only for how 'luckily' short this book is. I got queasy from the unbelievable sugar-coating and smarm. And unbelievable it is. Not based in reality, and certainly no depth. I bought this book based on the Today Show interview and was expecting to be moved or at best, entertained. Neither happened. This is not a thinking womans read, nor a sensitive mans 'time well spent'. Save your money. Wait for the made-for-T.V. late night movie when you have a bout of insomnia. It should clear up by the 3rd commercial break. Ouch!
Rating: Summary: I fantastic story about lessens learned Review: I found this novel to be a good read and a nice story. I enjoyed learning the lessens it tought and living with the characters. James Patterson shows why he is such a talented author. Its like he took a relationship out of one of his suspense thrillers and wrote about an event involving them. His Alex Cross novels have always involved a romantic twist. He has simply gone off on a tangent focusing on that romantic twist. Those who dislike the novel calling it sappy should understand it for what it is. If you dont like the genre, it doesnt mean its not a good book, its just not in your taste. But people should still apreciate it for what it is. Its a very well told story about life.
