Summary: Casanova was in my room!
Review: The exhilarating pace of this book totally got me hooked from page 1. James Patterson is a master storyteller who made me believe that Casanova could be hiding in my room! After reading this book I was so aware of anything which went bump in the night that it took me quite awhile before I fell asleep. Casanova and the Gentleman Caller is every woman's nightmare. I'm definitely looking foward to his next book so that I can get my next Patterson fix!

Summary: not as painful as a root canal
Review: This movie was generic Hollywood, but it had potential, so I decided to read the book. To say I was disappointed is putting it mildly. This book reads like a novellization of the movie. The plot is nearly nonexistant and Mr. Patterson is simply not a very good writer (he uses exclamation points in the text, for heavens sake--a favorite trick of junior high girls to punch up their diary entries). Now, I am not someone who looks down on popular culture and the thriller genre. I read large amounts of murder mysteries and I've been counting the days until the sequal to "The Relic" was released. In short, there is little I can't struggle though. This book, however, was too much for me.

Summary: Chris Noth's narration made this book great
Review: While Kiss the Girls was already entertaining, it had some annoying, but small, plot and detail problems. The movie was OK, but the book was better. And as far as I'm concerned, the audio book is the best! Narrator Chris Noth, a Law & Order alum, portrayed all the characters except Alex Cross, who was competently read by Robert Guillaume.

Noth made this book. He grossed me out, scared me, made me laugh, and generally amazed me with his vocal acting range. He portrayed both killers remarkably well; they were similar in many ways, as they should have been, yet he picked out subtle accent and other vocal differences that made it easy for the listener to pick them out after hearing them only once or twice.

In short, the narrator can make or break an audio version of a book, and Noth made this one, hands down. In fact, he had me wishing that they would have let him portray Alex Cross, too, because I think he could have pulled it off with ease. This is definitely the version of the book to get!

Summary: The Movie did not do this book justice.
Review: This book was very well written. A reader can really tell that Mr. Patterson did his homework. This was the first book that I have ever read by Mr. Patterson, I wish I would read his work sooner. This was indeed a page turner. I took this book everywhere with me until I finished it. After reading the book, I watched the movie, BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The movie did not do this book justice at all. The director change too much from the book and also left out a lot of crucial information about the Gentleman Caller and Casanova. If you like a good who-done-it, READ THIS BOOK!!
