Summary: It's all about loving ourselves
Review: Iyanla Vanzant's book has become my bible; for those times when I forget the lessons learned not only through the book but through the personal experiences validated by the book- i find myself going back to the pages that would reiterate those principles I try very hard to live by.

This book is a practical and simple guide to cleaning our hearts of hatred, anger, pain caused by people whom we have invited into our lives. It simply tells us to love ourselves first, knowing that God is within us. Love is not supposed to be complicated. All we need to do is seek first in ourselves perfection, and the rest will follow.

Thank you, Iyanla, for the new love-paradigm!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Ilyana Vanzant for writing such a wonderful book and sharing it with the rest of us!

Summary: A Good Guide to Better Relationships
Review: This book is a good 'how to' guide to loving and healthy relationships. Vanzant not only tells us the 'how and why'in her 'down-to-earth' style, but also, illustrates her points with real life examples that drive her points home! If you read this book and take it to heart, you have a much greater chance to find yourself and the love you want!

Summary: Meantime
Review: I kept reading parts of this book before I bought it. It has struck so close to home, but I was not ready to read the whole book, therefore I loan it to one of the women in our healing circles. We are Native American and identify closely with the author. It is a good book, to help with our issues.

Summary: Are you in the meantime?
Review: You know what you want, but you don't know how to get it. According to author Iyanla Vanzant, you are living in the meantime. The meantime is all about evaluation, honesty, and trust. The book is about evaluating yourself and your picture of love. Vanzant compares this evaluation process to spring cleaning, opening up all your closets and getting rid of everything you don't need. The meantime is also realizing that you need change and taking action. If you are in the meantime, you need to read this book. It will help you realize what you want, how to get it, and get out of it. This book helps you face all of your "garbage" and throw it all away. Reading this book you will find out how to be love and reflect love, to get the love that everyone ultimately wants. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It has helped me in more ways than one and will do the same for others.

Summary: self-help drivel
Review: Sorry, the raves about this book are so off the mark. Nothing new. Nothing original. Sentimental, feel-good, run-of-the-mill stuff here. I hate to be the voice of dissent, but there you have it. If you've recently come out of a relationship and are floundering, this book offers no help. Look elsewhere...and if you find out where to look, tell me!

Summary: the meantime of now
Review: reading the book and others by this good author,I have found a lot of good insight, but, being the victim of domestic violence, and after being kicked to the curb, losing all of the materials of comfortable living, loving myself was not and is still not the easier thing to find within myself to go on, I have finally left the city and as soon as my financial situation gets clean, will be relocating out of state. now, is that loving myself. I wonder, being that I am alone, sleeping and eating whatever I can just to survive, my children and grandchildren, I am no longer in contact, being that I will end up breaking down within and getting back unto the same boat, but, I am trying so hard to be strong, find financialing so that I can travel to the next state and beome self sufficient until the uneployment check roll in. May God continue to shine in my soul so that I know that I am loved and like the light shine within so that I will no longer need a man in my life to make me know that I am loved, as long as i do things his way.

Summary: Pretending that everything is just fine!
Review: Iyanla's book was painfully true and exact! It wasn't until I stopped denying that I had accepted things in my life - unsatisfying career, dead end relationships, negative relationships - that were taking me away from the "true self", that I came to appreciate that I needed to hear the truth from someone who didn't care if my feelings were hurt. From someone who was not judgemental and insensitive. I beleive as people, we are in denial about alot of things in our lives. And maybe we are too proud to admit this to others, but always be true to yourself. That is the only way a change can come about for the better. At the end of the day, when there are no more eyes to look into and fake smile, when you are weary of saying "I'm doing great!", when actually, you are so unsure about yourself and how you feel, you really have no clue about how you really feel! This book isn't scholarly! You don't need your doctorate degree to relate. It's conversational! It's down to earth! It's like listening on the other end of the phone, while your Aunt's talk! It's a must read.
