Summary: Read and Reread for total understanding
Review: This was a good book. She gave you examples and scenarios of relationships we have been thru. And tells you to basically stop wallowing in self pity, know that your time will come and until then there is nothing you can do but learn. From the book I got the understanding that you can't have a good relationship with anyone else until you have a good relationship w/ yourself. Stop lying to yourself, beating up on yourself and learn to love yourself truly love yourself.

Summary: Like wading through peanut butter...
Review: Ugh! Please, someone find this woman an editor! I am sure that there is something poignant hidden somewhere in this book...But I have difficulty finding it through all the pointless tangents and repetition. This book is so poorly written, that it hurts to read it. It's like wading through peanut butter. If you are looking for enlightenment, I highly recommend "The Alchemist," by Paolo Choelo. Same message in a much more readable (and enjoyable) format.

Summary: Don't bother getting the book if you are single...
Review: Got the book thinking it would assist me in getting through a rough single phase... Didn't. The book is a nice read - tells you everything's okay - you just need to straighten up a bit - but nothing terribly meaningful or enlightening. Mrs. Vanzant is a wonderful speaker, but, in my opinion, this book fell short. Most all of the scenarios involved people in unhappy relationships - well leave, that's easy enough. But for single people, there is very little that this book offers. Sure, learn to love yourself, don't sell yourself short, and be respectfult to yourself and others. That's nice, really, but it does little to fix anything. I don't mean to sound bitter, but I was disappointed with the work overall.

Summary: A book full of hope.
Review: Whether you are in a relationship, hoping to be in one or wondering if you should stay where you are, this book can be a psyche life-saver. It's as calming as a cup of warm camomile tea in the company of a good friend. The advice is organized into steps that are real and easy to relate to. Can also be a great self-esteem builder.

Summary: Perfect for understanding life
Review: Excellent book for anyone who has not become their "ideal self" yet. This book reads like an old friend and earnestly works toward achieving what you truly want in life.... a better sense of self worth. It teaches that loving yourself comes first. Although this premise is not new, the book shows common occurances that we do not recognize immediately as disrespectful ourselves. This book does not talk down to the reader nor is it flooded with psychobabble.

Summary: Quite helpful.
Review: This book talks about and analyzes why people feel a certain way. It teaches you to dig deep down inside of why you feel this or that way. It also talks about forgiving yourself and others and how to accomplish in experiencing unconditional love for yourself and others. Yes I did learn a few things but i found this book a bit repetitious. But it's still a good read. Just skip a page when you know that you already read it in the first chapter because it will say exactly the same thing.

Summary: Real Soul Food
Review: I am half way to finish this wonderful book and I couldn't wait to write to you. I need to get in touch with Mrs. Vanzant because in my 38 yrs of life... no one has ever touched my heart so much as she has. I cannot read something about her without sheadding happy tears. She is sure a child of the Creator... Her life experiences are similar to mine... and right now I am in search of finding the true love within myself thru the Creator. I want to meet this WONDERFUL BEING and invest my life to be one of her assistants. Please help me get in touch with her! I am of a Hispanic descent...originally from the country of Panama... and would love to spread love words to my Hispanic people all over the world. God bless you all! Ana

Summary: For those in search of meaning
Review: For those in search of meaning in their life, pass this book by unless you enjoy a light, not very well written, redundant, and not very insightfull book that relates everything that happens in life and stages of life to the levels of a house. The analogy gets old by the second chapter. The author's insights are limited and of common knowledge to those who have been questing for meaning for 6 months or more. Pass on this book and look for a more meaningful book that does not try to fit everyone and everything into one of her house's floors. Life must be dull for this author because she seems to see in black and white rather than the way I see life: an irradiant rainbow of changing and unpredictable color combinations. I did not even finish the book - I felt my time would be better spent doing the laundry and day dreaming.

Summary: Worth Reading
Review: Author uses a "house-cleaning" theme in describing a means to reviel behaviors that are limiting your experiences in lifetime relationships. Could be helpful in uncovering denials within oneself that are creating roadblocks to greater intimacy or having the relationships we all long for. While the message was generally good, reading through the book was difficult at times and what I would desribe as having a certain "loftiness" to it. Final chapter includes a story of a parent who has had several casual "in the meantime" relationships but had not married the mother of these two children, which I found offensive. Overall a good book serving as a potential antidote for assisting readers being true to themselves. But, reading proved troublesome and the book was a tad too "pop-psych" for my liking. Might prove helpful in breaking the cycle of unfulfilling relationships toward experiencing something much more meaningful. In the Meantime probably is worthy of reading for anyone with a false understanding of what love is and ultimately experiences bad relationships on continum.

Summary: Fantastic Reading for the Soul and Spirit
Review: I just started a book club among my friends, and this is the book I chose for everyone to read. Every single one of my friends have said the same thing, They love it, love it, love it.... You can't believe it until you read it. This book is a must read for any man or woman, who would like to understand and/or make sense of why things, and events in our lives happen the way they do. It enlighted and taught us what to do in the Meantime, while waiting for love to come your way. We learned how we can't just expect things to happen in our lives, without the preparation. We must be prepare not only for happiness, but for the failures that will occur in our lives as we grow in the Meantime. I love this book, I will read it twice to absorb it's full content.
