Summary: SANFORD DISAPPOINTED ME IN THIS BOOK.
Review: I WAS TRULY DISAPPOINTED IN SANFORD'S LAST BOOK. iN HIS OTHER BOOKS THE THRILL CAME FROM NOT GUESSING WHO THE KILLER WAS, BUT FROM KNOWING THE MOVES OF LUCAS AND THE KILLER UNTIL THEY MEET. THIS BOOK REMINDED ME OF OTHER TRITE WRITERS WHERE YOU GUESS THE KILLER. TO ME THE THRILL ALWAYS CAME FROM THE CHESS GAME BETWEEN THE KILLER AND LUCAS (I COULD SEE TOM SELECK PLAYING ALEX). DON'T GET ME WRONG SANFORD IS ONE OF THE BEST AUTHORS TODAY. EVEN HIS BOOKS UNDER HIS REAL NAME (WHICH ESCAPES ME NOW) ARE EXTREMELY WELL WRITTEN. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE " "EYES OF PREY" AND "SILENT PREY" MADE INTO A MINI-SERIES.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a twisting, haunting thriller.
Review: sanford keeps you guessing right up until the moment the killer's real identity is revealed. after the revalation you heart races hoping Davenport and his colleagues will find the killer before another murder is committed. You find yourself truly praying they catch on. when i saw who the real murderer was my reaction was oh sh--. i hadn't even thought that and the forthcoming explanations made sense. it was a genuine page turner and not one to start if you have an early day coming up. the murderer in this book was as good as Becker but a lot more diabolical. great read have fun.

Summary: Another amazing thriller.
Review: This man can write. He knows people. He knows business, and he has used all of this to write an utterly facinating book--again. Sandford's books' strength has always been his people and his sense of place. This time he has added characters, that still read like real people, but now some of them have varying levels, but always accurate, insider knowledge about the arcane world of business. This all by itself is a tour de force. Read this book, you will like it.

Summary: Excellent reading.
Review: I was somewhat dissapointed with Sandford's last book. This new one is, however, great. The plot is easy to follow and takes many different twists throughout the book. The writing is concise and clear. There is little of everything, and Davenport makes a great character. Basically, fun reading cannot get better any than this! Unless you read Connelly's Blood Work an excellent murder-serial killer-mystery or Steiger's new conspiracy-thriller (some torture scenes) Alien Rapture. Read the reviews for these other books and you'll see. I recommend ALL THREE.

Summary: Classic Sandford
Review: Precious few authors can keep recurring characters fresh and interesting. I'm pretty worn out on Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta and it's been a long time since I've bothered to read about Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware. Yet Sandford's Lucas Davenport keeps coming on strong, with no end in sight. Fast pace, no time wasted on building or house descriptions that only seem to pad out other stories. Just action, and lots of it. In the realm of series characters, Davenport ranks up there with Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt, and David Hagberg's Kirk McGarvey. (There is one other character in Sandford's book whose name always elicits a chuckle from me: Del Capslock. He's named after two of the keys on a computer keyboard. Gotta love it.)

Summary: I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF LUCAS DAVENPORT!
Review: ALL of the Prey novels are excellent, and this one was no exception. And while the plot is extremely engrossing, Lucas Davenport is even more so! I am in love, and I wish that Davenport were real so "I" could marry him. John Sandford is a genius at building nail-biting suspense and intrigue(Lucas, Lucas, Lucas!). This book gets the reader so involved in the case and Lucas's problems, it seems like he is a real guy! I wish.

Summary: Satisfying Read
Review: If I were John Sandford I would be pretty peeved that a major error was let go into print. As other people have mentioned, in Chapter 8, page 114, they are conducting an interview and are using the wrong name for the victim!! They use the name Wilson McDonald when they are referring to Daniel Kresge. It was rather frustrating to have such a blatant error in this part of the book. Other than this and the fact that Del's name is spelled two different ways, I enjoyed this book. I wasn't surprised about the relationship change either, after all, Lucas has had a different lover in every book. (Maybe he is getting a little old for this.) Good mystery, don't mind the killer is identified before the end, most people have probably figured it out by then anyway. Hard to put down, hated it to end. Can't wait for the next one!

Summary: incredible
Review: John Sandford once again takes us into Lucas' world and we weve and bob with him through a maze of death, clues, suspects etc...momentarily brought down I was at Weather's defection (thought she was to strong for her reaction) but recover quickly when Lucas does and go on. I like the return to the "Prey" series and am a big fan of Lucas Davenport. Simply John Sandford is one of the best writers out there. He keeps your attention and never lets you go until the very end. Bravo Mr. Sandford on your skill as a writer! I always look forward to reading one of your books.

Summary: A good read.
Review: I have read all the Prey books, and I was not disappointed with this one. I carried it around the house with me and read it in record time. Some of the later Prey novels had gotten a bit gruesome for me, but I enjoyed this one. I agree with other readers, I didn't like the relationship change either.

Summary: Give me more Davenport!
Review: The "Prey" series has to be the best I have ever read. I thoroughly enjoyed Night Crew but was I glad to have my Lucas Davenport back in Silent Prey! This one does the series major justice with Lucas settling into himself, and it really is nice to see his character evolve from the tortured soul he has been to someone that knows his faults and limits and works with them. Each installment improves on the last and they are the hardest books to put down. I actually enjoy staying up until 4 am just to see what happens next! The only problem I have with Mr. Sandford is that he does not write fast enough!!!
