Rating: Summary: Finally!! Review: Ms. Brockmann finally delivered on the Sam and Alyssa storyline. Sam finally comes across as an adult who made serious decisions that affected the lives of those around him. Alyssa finally deals with her feelings for Sam. Mary Lou finally comes across as a sympathetic character. I don't want to give away too much, but after Sam finds his "wife's" body and no sign of daughter Haley, Alyssa and he begin an uneasy alliance to try and find his daughter. The story has all the elements that make me love Brockmann's stories and a lot of angst where Gina and Max are concerned. Ofcourse now we're all going to be waiting for that story too!!
Rating: Summary: I wish 5 stars wasn't the limit-this book deserves many more Review: I'm not going to summarize or anything- just going to say: BUY IT!!! I have read the entire series and she has outdone herself with this one. I very strongly recommend this book! Read them all!! I went shopping for it the morning it was released- just couldn't wait... and I was not disappointed! I couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: Thank God its finally here! Review: I read GTF in one sitting...the story moved just that fast. You will be moved to see the way that Sam and Alyssa finally grow up and stop trying to hide their feelings behind their pride. They are forced by circumstance to trust each other and their faith pays off. It was good to see Mary Lou grow up, and get past her prejudices. There were a lot of happy endings in this book...loose ends that were tied up nicely.
Rating: Summary: Brockmann hits another home run! Review: I waited with breathless anticipation for this book... Sam and Alyssa's story! This book also contains secondary stories about Tom Paoletti and his fiance Kelly, Max and Gina, as well as a bi-racial romance from the 40's. Altogether, this may have been Suz's best book yet. The suspense is great, and the romance is greater. It was also wonderful to get a fuller history and background about Sam Starrett. I really liked how Suz revealed more of his childhood to explain this complex character. It was also gratifying to (finally) get resolution of the Sam/Alyssa/Mary Lou situation. Though the book ended on a sugary sweet-happy-ending note, there are clearly loose ends left to tie up in forthcoming books. My advice... RUN DO NOT WALK TO BUY THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Best of Brockmann Review: If you're a Brockmann fan, you are familiar with Sam and Alyssa's rocky relationship, which was first introduced in the novel Unsung Hero, also featuring the romantic relationship of Tom Paoletti and Kelly Ashton. In this latest Brockmann novel, Gone Too Far, we finally get to see the focus on Sam and Alyssa. When Sam goes to Florida to find out what's holding up Mary Lou, his estranged wife, from signing the divorce papers, he comes upon a grisly discovery, a decomposing body in the kitchen of his sister-in-law's house. He also finds his baby daughter Haley missing. His first call is to his FBI buddy Jules Cassidy, but Alyssa Locke, his former nemesis and lover, answers the phone instead. Thus begins the latest exciting chapter of Sam and Alyssa's story. While trying to find his missing daughter and prove Sam's innocence in a terrorist plot to assassinate the U. S. President, Sam and Alyssa learn more and more about each other and about what real love means. Once again, with the FBI and Sam's Navy SEALS' friends, the good guys outwit the bad guys. In addition, we get to see how other relationships from past Brockmann novels are developing. Tom and Kelly are still involved but not married, and Tom, too, is facing charges of treason for being involved in the terrorist plot with Sam. Max Bhagat, hostage negotiater and head of Alyssa's FBI unit, is still fighting his attraction to a much younger former hostage, Gina Vitagliano. In Gone Too Far, we also get to know much more about Sam's past and what makes him the man he has become. I laughed (especially at Jules' irreverent wit and Sam and Alyssa's bantering); I cried (as usual Ms. Brockmann touches the heartstrings); I cheered (after all, this time love really does seem to conquer all); and I couldn't stop turning the pages. This Brockmann book is a keeper and definitely worth the cost of the hardback edition! If you're not familiar with Sam and Alyssa, start with Unsung Hero and just keep going!
Rating: Summary: Gone Too Far Review: As a devoted fan of Suzanne Brockmann, I was very disappointed in Gone Too Far. It was difficult to get past the constant flash backs to Sam's early years. Whilst I like more than one story going on in a book there were just too many in this one. Just as you got into a story you were switched to one of several others. Usually I read her books immediately but found this one difficult to get through...at least Sam and Alyssa are at the heart of the book.
Rating: Summary: The best one yet! Review: The latest in the Suzanne Brockmann series was worth the wait! Finally Sam and Alyssa get there story and what a story,a must read.
Rating: Summary: Worth the wait Review: I have been counting the days until this book was released! After realizing that I really did not like Sam as a person in the preceeding book" Into The Night", but did feel sorry for Mary Lou and Haley because of the sad situation that they were all living throught.I was concerned about how in the world Suzanne Brockman could pull all of this together into a story that would possibly make Sam be a better person, and allow Mary Lou,Haley, and Alyssa all find some happiness and clousure considering the dreadful situation that they were in at the end of "Into The Night". Well, SHE DID IT! Sam finds himself facing not only the possible loss of his wife, but his baby girl is also missing, and he searches for them regardless of the consequences to his career, indeed, his very life. This story is rich with love, heroism, and genuine caring and comraderie found within the ranks of those who must trust their comrads for their very survival. Please read this,it's worth the cost, and we catch up on many hanging plots and relationships, such as Max and Gina's.I read this throught the night, missed church, and can not wait to see how the "new plans" for their "spec Ops" team works out! A whole new adventure and life style is possible for this great group of men,and their loved ones! (Read to see who is planning to be married, gets married,or gets back together in this story)Thank you, Suzanne, for the books that you write, the hours of pleasure that you bring to your readers, and the adventures that we all share together.
Rating: Summary: All Tied Up Review: Like all other fans of Ms. Brockmann's, I was eagerly awaiting Sam and Alyssa's story. With gone Too Far, she not only ties up loose ends with Sam and Alyssa but also with SEAL Tom Paoletti and pediatrician Kelly Ashton, and FBI negotiator Max Bhagat and former hostage Gina Vitagliano. Tom and Kelly come together due to repercussions from a career-ending terrorist incident from the last SEAL Team Sixteen book. Their subplot was simultaneously humorous and serious; very enjoyable. Max and Gina, who don't meet again until almost halfway through the book, are just plain annoying. Max is still waffling about getting involved because of the age difference and his conviction that Gina is fixated on him as her rescuer. You just want to smack him upside the head. When they finally get together, you are more relieved than intrigued. Besides the minor character sub-plots, there is the usual WWII sub-plot flashback along with one involving Sam's childhood. The subplots are still as distracting as in Brockmann's previous books. You can skip over the WWII sub-plot (it's in italics) and not miss a thing. I confess that I thought that Brockmann was going to kill off Mary Lou to get rid of her, and like many readers, wouldn't have minded a bit. Even though Mary Lou becomes a little more likeable in this book, the way her future is resolved seems a bit contrived. But at least she's out of the way. The main plot of the book is Sam's hunt for the missing Mary Lou and their daughter, Haley. The FBI gets involved because Mary Lou is believed to have aided terrorists and Sam is also implicated. Alyssa comes to his aid officially, then helps him unofficially as Sam tries to find Haley on his own while avoiding the FBI who want to take him in for questioning. Sam admits to Alyssa that he loves her but he realizes that their relationship is built on a shaky foundation. He actually refuses to sleep with her again unless it's on his terms-that they slowly build a lasting relationship. It takes being trapped in a burning house and seeing Sam wounded, but Alyssa finally comes to terms with the fact that she can't live without Sam. Even though they are proven innocent, Sam and Tom's SEAL careers are over. The book hints that they may become part of a new CIA team. Maybe Brockmann is moving on from SEALS to CIA.
Rating: Summary: Worth more than five stars!!! Review: The BEST YET of Suzanne Brockmann's U.S. Navy SEALs Team 16 series! This one focuses on handsome, muscular, stubborn, potty-mouth, Lt. Sam Starrett, where we not only get inside Sam's head but his heart as well and truely come to know and understand his sensitive side -- while he teams up with his FBI ex-lover, the beautiful, brainy ice princess, Alyssa Locke. Together they travel up and down Florida in search of his daughter not knowing whether she is dead of alive. A few other couples heated, passion-filled romantic spins and entangled predicaments weave throughout the story including some love letters and pages from a journal written during WWII. There is pleanty of excitement, humor, emotion and lovemaking with a capital L. If you enjoyed the other Seal Team 16 books -- you'll LOVE this one! Worth the reasonable H/B price.
