Rating: Summary: the best HTML tutorial out there Review: This is, in my opinion, the best HTML tutorial you can get. HTML is not something that requires a large tome to learn, and the "visual quickstart" aspect of the book lends itself perfectly to learning this subject. Castro covers everything you need to know, and this 4th edition gives an excellent presentation on style sheets. The text is very readable, topics are presented clearly, and simple concepts are never belabored. Another great feature of the book is how each topic is encapsulated in at most a few pages, making this not only a good tutorial, but also a decent reference. If you're going to be doing a lot of HTML hand coding, I also suggest picking up an additional reference (such as O'Reilly's Definitive Guide) that details every tag in more depth. Nothing more is really required, however, than this book to get you fluent in HTML.
Rating: Summary: 2nd EDITION created my web page with no prior knowledge! Review: Got my first computer two years ago and with no computer knowledge created a web page in HTML with this easy to follow book. Of all the many books on HTLM I've purchased this one is the one I always turn to first!
Rating: Summary: Great for beginners Review: This was a great first book on HTML. I was coding pages in a matter of days. The layout of the book made all the concepts discussed come to life. Great for what it was designed for. If you need more in-depth information on HTML get another book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: This is one of those books that is great for the beginner to the more advanced users! Written in plain English for everyone to understand! I highly recommend this book to everyone!
Rating: Summary: Great resource for the begginer/intermediate user Review: I can't say enough about this book: it's concise, far-reaching and thoroughly enjoyable. Never before have I devoured a technical book the way I did this one. I was done reading it within days and improving my small business web page in no time. Ms. Castro does an excellent job of bringing out disparaties between Netscape and Internet Explorer, as well as different versions of the same products; my one nit is that not all the information she provides is accurate (e.g., the non-standard <WBR> tag does not function under Netscape). Nonetheless, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to start coding HTML quickly and intelligently.
