Rating: Summary: Best HTML reference Review: Desparate for a good reference that touches on all the aspects, I checked this book out of the Scottsdale City Library. Two days later I had my own copy. It beats my many "Complete References" with their thousands of pages. What a uniquely written book. A visual approach to a visual subject. I think it is excellent for pros who don't memorize all the tags. Beginners may be a little dazed.
Rating: Summary: Very, very, good. Review: The approach used in the book is simple and informative. There isn't much more to say except that it is one of the best books available that does not bury HTML beneath a superficial and colorful approach. This book is also a sign of the high quality of books released by Peachpit Press, and other books in the "Visual Quick-start Guide" series.
Rating: Summary: Best HTML Reference & Tutorial Book I've Seen Review: All of the HTML for the WWW editions have been oustanding, each with a little bit more information than the last. This one does not veer from this trend. This is an excellent tutorial book for beginners as well as a reference book for very experienced HTML coders who need help on some of the advanced features it covers, or forgot the syntax of a tag. It gives an intro to Javascript, CSS, browser compatibility, and incorporating CGI, among other things. Definitely a must have in any HTML coder or web developer's library.
Rating: Summary: Great for beginner Review: If you're patient with this book--it will guide you step-by-step, not just through HTML, but through the technology behind the technology, and *why* the language is what it is, why it does what it does, etc. I'm creating my page with Castro's easy-to-follow text and am pleased with the results. Thanks Elizabeth!
Rating: Summary: HTML - The Easy Way Review: I used this book in my spare time (evenings and lunch breaks at work) to learn HTML. I can not praise the author and contents of this book enough. I learned so much in such a short time... I already have a multi-paged website layed out that includes Frames, and some light graphics. I look forward to puchasing the authors other book entitled 'Perl & CGI for the WWW' - Thanks!
Rating: Summary: Not a book for true beginners Review: I bought and returned this book. Maybe I'm dense, but I use a computer constantly and have published websites using frontpage. I don't know a lick of html so I bought this out of its claim to teach beginners. I didn't get past the first chapter due to numerous terminology uses that apparently required some prereq. I'm still looking for a beginners html book.
Rating: Summary: She's done it again Review: Unbelieveable. I was expecting not much of a difference from the last edition. What does the author do? She adds some pages and comes up with some new tricks! This book is by far my most favorite book on HTML. And to top it off, she leaves the fluff out and gets right down to business. Thanks for an outstanding update on such a great book!
Rating: Summary: It is clear, consice, and gives all you need to know Review: I found the book to be a great reference and teaching tool. The author's style is direct and to the point with some humor to lighten things up. This is unlike some other books that have heavy use humor to fill pages and pages of nonsense. The book provides info on all tags, code writing styles, organization, and image coloring and optimization and some other extra items.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book Review: I enjoyed reading this book. It provided concise and easily understandable instructions. The use of illustrations was also very helpful. It is an excellent book for beginners.
