Summary: Well layed out
Review: Just like a good web page, this book is well organized and easy to read. The explanations are kept deliberately simply, which serves to enhance its function as a reference work that you can return to again and again, instead of forcing you to read through dense tutorials every time you just need a simple reminder.

Summary: The most comprehensive visual guide to HTML yet!
Review: Peachpit is very proud to publish the fourth edition of Elizabeth Castro's HTML 4 for the World Wide Web: Visual QuickStart Guide. In this handy book you will find everything you need to create Web pages of all kinds using HTML. Whether you want to create a small, personal Web site, or a large site for your company, Liz's book is the tool you need. Using straightforward step-by-step instructions and hundreds of illustrations, Liz walks you through the basics of building your pages with HTML. She then shows you how to take control of your Web page layout using frames, tables, and Cascading Style Sheets. And she shows you how to add the bells and whistles that make your site more exciting and interactive, from using forms and getting user feedback to adding sound and video to your site.

In this fourth edition, Liz has added new coverage of page layout techniques using tables, an all new debugging chapter, expanded coverage of Cascading Style Sheets, easy JavaScript tricks, and she has included a CGI script you can use with your Web page forms. Her new set of browser test pages (on her Cookwood site) help you create Web pages that look great in any browser. The new "Getting People to Visit" chapter will help you attract visitors to your site.

We're pleased to say this has been the #1 bestselling book on HTML for some time. We hope you'll enjoy this latest edition of the book!

Summary: Have no fear, the rave reviews are not just hyperbole!
Review: Knowing nothing (zero without the rim) about designing web pages, I inquired about "HTML for Dummies". After reading several less than stellar reviews I noticed that many people recommended this book. I was not disappointed and am looking forward to the 4th edition. The layout is simple to follow and the examples are very complete. She really took the time to systematically cover the important little things, and the specific quirks of Netscape vs. Internet Explorer. It is a outstanding introduction and reference book. When I finished reading it I had great confidence in my ability to do something I had never done before.

Review: Superior Value, Excellent examples, clear and concise. It doesn't get a whole lot better than this. Buy this today then follow with another, heavier duty, book such as the Definitive Guide to HTML.

Summary: I'm a beginner in HTML, and this book helped a lot...
Review: I don't have anything else to compare this to, as I've never checked out any other HTML book, but this one worked great for me. It's very easy to follow, with a nice layout and a helpful table of contents. It answered all the questions I had, and then some. The biggest compliment I could give is that it helped me design a decent-looking, functional website.
