Summary: Very moving.......Lucy lives on forever
Review: WOW! I have never read such a good book. I own this book, and I read almost everyday. It is one of the most moving books I have ever read. Lucy's voice comes through loud and clear; you feel as though she were talking to you personally. It is a facinating account of a legend's restless childhood in Celeron, New York, her job modeling at Hattie Carnegie's, her move to Hollywood to make her dreams come true, her tempestuous but extremely passionate marraige to Desi Arnaz, her incredible I Love Lucy success, the crumble of her marraige and their Desilu empire, and her life after I Love Lucy and after Desi. This book is so intense, I actually cried. It was obvious that even after she and Desi divorced and she married Gary Morton, he was still her one true love and they still loved eachother very much. This is the one and only memoir Lucille Ball left for her adoring fans, so if you ever get the chance to read this book, take it! It's amazing how vividly Lucy recalls her whole life up to 1964. I am so glad this book was finally found in 1996. Here is Lucy's story, the REAL story, in her own words.

Summary: You will love Lucy
Review: Yes you will love Lucy warts n'all after reading this book. It takes us back to the beginning with Lucy's early life growing up in Jamestown we are introduced to the wonderful characters of DeDe and Daddy Hunt the great influences on Lucy's adolescence we learn of Lucy treading the boards in the beginning not as an actress but as a model. This books gives us an insight into the depression years and to early Hollywood, and to the formation of TV as we know it, what can I say I LOVED this book and the easy manner in which it is presented. Lucy presents this book in such an easy format to read you will sit down and read it in one sitting it's a great read. I Love Lucy and I loved this book she is a delight to read.

Summary: This changed my viewpoint of Lucy!
Review: When I watched the I Love Lucy re-runs on Nick at Nite I though Lucy was just a little bit annoying. Once I read her autobiography it totaly changed my view of her. I keep a "dog eared" copy on my night stand and in my locker incase I'm having a rough day I just pick it up and read and I feel better again.

Summary: Lucy in her Own Words
Review: I am an enormous fan of Lucille Ball. Although I was only six when she died, I have, ever since the age of eleven, watched her on television and collected her memorabilia. She is the greatest actress of all time, and she still lives on today. Lucy is my absolute favorite actress. I am very sorry that I don't remember her. I laughed and cried when I read her story. It's so honest. She was never afraid to say exactly what was on her mind. Please read Love, Lucy. You will definitely get your money's worth.

Summary: Incredebly moving....you can really hear her voice in it!
Review: This book is probably the best one I've ever read. Finally, a book about the legendary Lucille Ball in her own words. When she talked about her crumbling marraige and her final kiss to Desi, I swear I cried. It was clear that she was deeply hurt, and Desi was too. It was also clear she didn't want to hurt him, for she still cared deeply for him. She didn't give that many vivid details about their fights, but she gave enough details to paint a good picture. It was obvious that she loved him and that he loved her, but in the end thay just weren't meant to be together. It is a comfort, though, to know that in the end she was finally happy again in her lasting marraige to Gary Morton. The hardest part is to finish this book and realize that she is no longer here. That's the part that really got to me, for I really love Lucy, and always will.

Summary: Lucille Ball's candid, occasionally moving autobiography
Review: I enjoyed this book very much. I don't know all that much about Lucille Ball, but I did learn a lot of stuff here that I'm sure I wouldn't have heard anywhere else. She's very candid in describing her childhood in New York, career in modeling and then movies, her expereinces on the "I Love Lucy" show, and her tumultuous marriage to Desi Arnaz. It's quite clear they were both madly in love with each other but just weren't suited to each other. I had a feeling she was holding back when describing his faults, as she didn't include many vivid details, but it seems she really didn't want to hurt him. She seems to have finally become happy again in her second marriage to comedian Gary Morton, and I was glad. This book actually moved me occaionally. I'd like to read Desi Arnaz's autobiography, A Book, to see his view of the story. Is it available in msot bookstores?

Summary: A Wonderful Bool
Review: This is a wonderful book about the life of Lucille Ball. It tells about her life in her own unique voice. I recommend it for any "Lucy" fan. It also has a moving introduction by Lucie Arnaz. She and her brother have given us a beautiful treasure of her mother's.

Summary: There will never be another Lucy!
Review: Reading this book was like hearing Lucy whisper it into your ear. There are a lot of bad biographies about Ball--and now at last, I think this one we can believe. She was the best comedienne we have ever seen. This book is wonderful, but read it along with "A Book" by Desi Arnaz. It is great fun to read the 2 very different accounts of many of the same stories. Lucy was not blameless--she was after all, very much like the rest of us. I have already passed this book on to 3 others and they all loved it as much as I did. Thanks to Lucie and Desi Jr.
