Summary: To other reviewers...
Review: To all the critical reviewers who insult Franken and liberals by calling us "Commies" - we're as Communist as conservatives are fascists.

Summary: Libs get a life
Review: I would rather listen to Rush than a Liberal that worships an idolitry that worships homosexuality, communists, and i'm sorry the end of capitalism. Capitalism makes all you liberals! Give thanks to capitalism! God bless capitalism! You got something to say about it? Communist!

Summary: Pretty Funny Book and Good Observation
Review: The book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot is by no means hilarious, that I can tell you. For some reason, the jokes that Al thought were funny, actually seemed so, dare I say it, lame. I mean he had that joke about how Bob Dornan shoudn't lead a mental health commitee because he is so stupid. No offense, but that's the kind of joke a kid will do when he runs out of crakcs. I also didn't understand what ws so funny about the joke about Newt Gingrich counseling his daughter on her "infection" (actually her period. That was a little bit funny but not that much.

But the book did have its moments. One of the funniest pieces of literature that I have read was the short story in the book about Rush Limbaugh, Dan Quayle, and other crackheaded right-wing nuts in Vietnam. That story was really funny. I also liked the part about him making fun of Pat Robertson and when Geoff wrote those little essays.

The book is basically made up of 4-5 page essays about certain subjects. It starts about by making fun of Rush Limbaugh' weight which had its moments in hilariousness. The other parts of the book talk about AL Franken's mom and dad and how they influenced him to be intereseted im politics. They book also talks about how he went to a Christian Coalition Meeting and got a "throbbing headache," which was really lame.

I liked his chapter on Reaganomics, which he shows wasn't all that good. He uses a chart to explain how Rush Limbaugh distorted the facts. He also makes the case for Clinton being the best post-war president. He talks about the Renascance Weekend and talked about how he won the game, which wasn't funny.

But the book was good in its observation about the Republicans and how they are sometimes hypocritical. It also provided some information about current issues.

All in all the book was So-so in its jokes, but it was pretty good in the kind of jokes that make you groan a little bit and it has some good points shown in good ways. Read it for entertaining political jokes.

Summary: Not bad, for a left-wing moron...
Review: I recall first reading this book when I was a bit more liberal, and I don't recall loving it too much back then. Now that I am decidely more conservative, I decided to read this title for a second to see just how sorry the left is. I must concede when Al Franken tries to be funny, he comes off quite well, especially when he employs self-depreciating humor. Too that degree, this book is somewhat amusing. However, when Franken actually tries to make a serious point about politics (or anything else for that matter), he proves what a clueless liberal he is. His charts on the Reagan years wouldn't be so bad if they were only provided a warped, innaccurate, and utterly farcical analysis of the 1980's, but it is down right pathetic that he actually needed HELP engineering these erroneous charts. Franken's assault against Christian conservatives are nothing short of offensive mockery, and I can imagine most of Franken's fellow followers of the Jewish faith (which Franken doesn't seem to adhere too much) will feel more than slight embarrassment while reading that section of the book, as Franken provides more foder for anti-Semites in that chapter than any paranoid neo-Nazi could hope for. Franken can't even make it through a chapter without including a plethora of baseless insults (usually fat jokes about Rush Limbaugh) and inane profanity. It's really hard to believe this fellow went to Harvard. Then again, if you look at the liberals who dominate that institution, maybe it isn't.

Summary: The Funniest Book I've Ever Read
Review: Al Franken is one of the harshest authors I've ever read. The index is nothing but insults for Rush. I also enjoyed his new amendments for the Bill of Rights and his proposal for the 26 chip system to protect his children from everything. I loved his movie "Stuart Saves His Family" and I just checked "Im good Enough, Im Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!" out from the library. I recommend this to anyone who needs a good laugh. Alot like that "Meat Show" Rush Limbaugh.

Summary: Subpar comedy from a subpar presence
Review: Satire or no, if Franken can't print an economic graph without an obscene scribble on it, why should I believe it's true? And as for Rush and other conservatives being mean-spirited, I don't know of any who have titled a book so obnoxiously. Which political party believes that Individuals of any race or creed can't succeed on their own, and therefore need govt "help?" Hint: It ain't Repubs.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: Franken's book is bitingly funny and extremely informative, exposing Rush Limbaugh and other conservative minds and leaders as the hypocrites they are. A very entertaining read.

Summary: Liberal? Conservative? Does it really matter? This is GREAT.
Review: Anyone with an IQ higher than 3 (jars of mayonnaise need not apply) should at least get a kick out of this book. After I read it, I shared it with several friends, some of which are liberals, some of which are conservatives, some of which are neither. They all thought this book was funny as hell. The cool thing I found was that the truly intelligent readers got the most out of this book, whether they be Demos or Reps. Hardcore liberals will likely end up rolling on the floor in laughter; hardcore conservatives really should as well. Let me explain. If you're a Democrat, you'll appreciate all of the humor, understand where it's coming from, and agree with it. If you're a Republican, you'll see the humor as completely off base, misguided, and so pathetic that it's laughable. If you're conservative, this book will most likely fuel your anti-liberal rage and reaffirm your beliefs; the exact same thing should happen if you're liberal. Besides being humorous and angst-ridden, this book should also really make you think, no matter what your beliefs; Democrats with a slightly conservative edge might "convert", as might Republicans with a slightly liberal edge. I just don't think there's any way a person could read this book and not come away a stronger person. A good dose of skepticism and satire keeps your brain well-oiled. Republicans: read this book if you're not afraid to question your beliefs. Democrats: read this book, but be sure to also read something by Rush Limbaugh if you're not afraid to question your beliefs. A truly strong belief should hold up to skepticism and criticism; don't run away from either! You'll come out stronger.

I hope that this review didn't give away my political beliefs, as this is NOT supposed to be some inane liberal vs. conservative discussion board. All of the posts where Demos knock Reps and Reps knock Demos come off as sounding stale and childish, and make the party doing the insulting look bad; I'm particularly disturbed by the posts which use phrases such as "scum-sucking scum".

Democrats and Republicans, in short, could not exist without one another. A healthy war between them keeps our nation in check. If you want a country with only one political party, move to Iran. Whatever political agenda you agree with, be thankful that the choice exists at all!

(Oh, and Rush Limbaugh isn't just a big fat idiot; he's ugly, too. And I bet he smells bad.)

Summary: The only big, fat idiot is Bill Clinton
Review: I've never found Limbaugh to be particularly intelligent or persuasive, and have long been mystified by his popularity, but unlike Al Franken, I have nothing against the man. I just don't see how a guy on the radio with no political power other than his ability to influence people who are conservative anyway could be dangerous for the country. The few people who still interpret the first amendment literally should see nothing wrong with Rush Limbaugh having the opportunity to express his views. Anyone who disagrees with them should simply not listen. There are conservative radio hosts out there who are a thousand times more obnoxious and offensive, yet liberals like Al Franken all seem to reserve their ire for Rush. The only difference between him and other conservative talk show hosts is that he is popular, which I think is the real reason people hate him. They envy his popularity. Al Franken, who is too much of an ignoramus to substantively disprove Limbaugh's rhetoric, devotes most of his so-called book to name calling, which only proves that he has no talent for satire. And how hypocritical is it for him to criticize Rush for making fun of Chelsea Clinton's looks when Saturday Night Live did the same thing? Though he seems to admit that hypocrisy was his goal, saying that he wanted to add to the incivility of public discourse, my opinion is that Al Franken is not incensed so much by the obesity of Rush Limbaugh, but by the obesity of Rush Limbaugh's wallet.
