Rating: Summary: Very well written, good background information. Review: Enjoyed the book a lot. It gives an inside view of the entertainment business and the problems that comes with being in the business. The writers have covered Donny and his family, as well as his personal beliefs and lifestyle. Donny is shown as an open and honest person, in a business that is plagued with deception and mistrust. I wish him much success in his new TV show with Marie and with his family. Donny is an inspiration to anyone who is trying to find direction and inner peace. Thanks again for the book......
Rating: Summary: Donny I Allready Knew You Review: I read the the book hoping to gain a new insight to him. I have been a Donny Osmond fan since 1969. I have skipped school, missed work when ever he was on tv (Before vcr's).There simply was nothing I haven't heard before in this book.I am glad his anger is gone and he is being himself though.
Rating: Summary: RIVETING! Review: I just finished reading Donny Osmond's book today and, wow, I didn't realize how much he'd been through!! It's heartbreaking to read how cruel people can be, especially to someone so well-meaning as Donny. I used to be head-over-heels for him as a teenager and thought he was the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen in my life... Who'da thunk it that a guy that I thought was close to "perfect" could have had so many insecurities! It's actually refreshing in a way, though, knowing that someone I had really looked up to is every bit as human as I. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, fan or not. It's sad, happy, funny, and just plain interesting. Now that I've finished the book, I just don't know what to do with myself! I want more!
Rating: Summary: Donny is like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Review: I read this book in one afternoon. So much I didn't know about Donny and I have been a fan of the Osmonds for a long time. No matter who you are life throws a few challenges to overcome and it is wonderful that Donny kept true to his values, love for his wife and family and faith in Heavenly Father to become a much stronger man.
Rating: Summary: I love the new book and want the older books. Review: I really enjoy Donny's book. I don't read much but this book I can't hardly put down. I read in the first page of the book that Donny is the author of other books and I would like to know how I could get them. I haven't had much luck in finding them so far. I do believe that Donny's books will be some of the best I will ever read.
Rating: Summary: COURAGEOUS, PROUD AND A LITTLE BIT SAD IN TODAYS WORLD Review: THIS BOOK WAS VERY ENLIGHTENING AND TRUTHFUL. LIFE AS WE SEE IT IS NOT ALWAYS WHAT IT IS. HOW MANY OF US WANTED TO BE DONNY OR DATE DONNY. WHEN IN REALITY THE "AVERAGE" CHILD HAD THE BETTER LIFE. NO CHILD SHOULD NOT HAVE A CHANCE OF BEING JUST THAT, A CHILD. THE OSMOND CHILDREN NEVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE KIDS AND HAVE FUN. DONNY HAS OVERCOME SO MUCH JUST BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS AND WHAT HIS NAME IS. IF ONLY TALENT SPOKE LOUDER THAN CONFLICT. WHY IS IT BAD TO BE A GOOD GUY? DONNY'S PRIORITY'S ARE RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE AND LEARNING FROM ONE'S LIFE MISTAKES IS THE BEST THING ONE CAN DO. HIS CHILDREN WILL NOT LIVE THE SAME LIFE TRAUMAS. I READ THIS BOOK IN ONE DAY AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO CAN APPRECIATE TALENT, HARDWORK AND GREAT LIFE ETHICS.
Rating: Summary: A book full of surprises. Review: I live in Sweden and I've been a fan for 26 years and thought I knew quite a bit about this guy! Well, I was in for a big surprise! The book is so sincere and I must say that I admire him for being so personal. The book made me cry many times but also made me smile. I admire this man even more after reading the book. Even though he speaks about hard times, he never blames anyone or tries to make us pity him. It's an uplifting book, it teaches you to believe in yourself. I warmly recommend this book to everyone, not only to Donny-fans.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down Review: I have been a fan for over 30 years and this book was just breathtaking...I cannot believe how much this young man went thru and I was always trying to see him.. I did get to meet him and he was just a super guy..me not knowing what he was going thru at the time I now feel bad...but thank you for the memories..and reading this just brought them all back..you are the best..and I recommend this book to anyone..it is great reading...
Rating: Summary: Well-written , honest look at the real life of a child star. Review: Unpretentious and self aware, Osmond reveals the harsh reality of the child-star's life: these kids are sacrificed for their parent's dreams . The fact that this man lived his childhood as a commodity in the control of the "adults" around him and was never given the opportunity to feel much less think for himself is sad. Yet the true triumph is that he was able to rise above it and break the pattern in his adult life and with his own children. His parents, managers and others "dropped the ball" for this kid and he grew up without the security and nurturing that every child needs to survive. That this child had to accept that this lifestyle was his "job" and learn to not complain (or cry for his mother) at the ripe age of 8, was hard to read as a mother of 3 young children. I applaud him for his grace and endurance in the face of such a painfully abnormal childhood and for his courage in presenting so openly the wounds the world has inflicted upon him. We love our celebrities when they are up and we eat them alive when they are down. This book is a lesson in dignity and humanity , and Mr. Osmond has held class . The good guys do come out on top every now and then.
Rating: Summary: donny's story is very good Review: donny's story has touched many people in my family and i want to thank him for that!
