Rating: Summary: Thank You Gary..... in honor of "Pupster" I will help others Review: I lost my beloved toy poodle, "Pupster", on March 7, 2002. Gary's book has provided me with great comfort in my devastating grief. During such a difficult time, many question their faith and beliefs, and Gary helped to provide the reassurance I need to start rebuilding my life without my companion by my side, at peace in knowing that one day we will be together again forever. I have purchased two more books to donate to my veterinarian's office as an act of kindness in honor of my beloved Pupster. I know that future grieving recipients will read Gary's book and find the same wonderful comfort I did as I turned each page.
Rating: Summary: "Until the Morn" Review: "Cold Nose at the Pearly Gates" has a subtitle that didn't make it onto the front cover. A pity, because "A Book of Hope" is exactly what Gary Kurz delivers. His heartbreak after losing two of his dearest pets moved him to "search the scriptures," to see if God has spoken to us about animal afterlife. Mr. Kurz asks the question on the minds of most of us who deeply love and miss our pets: "Surely there must be a heavenly preserve where God's creatures can run free and safe in testimony to his eternal glory." He answers the question with intelligence, humor, and respect for his readers. Author Kurz has included several engaging animal stories, ending the book with anecdotes about animals that have shared his life."Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates" has a very gentle, biblically based approach to pet loss. His love and tenderness for animals is evident throughout the book; returned ten-fold by animals who have given him much joy. Interjecting a personal note, if you have recently lost a pet and need immediate comfort, turn to chapter five, "The Millennium." Twice last year I said goodbye to two dearly beloved pets; two beautiful Cockapoo sisters (Cocker and Poodle cross) who shared my life for more than fifteen years. In the depths of my grief, I was unable to appreciate or recognize the value of what Mr. Kurz has written in the first few chapters of his book. The work deserves an unhurried, careful reading. Its wholesomeness and comfort touched my soul after a second reading, four months following the death of my surviving pet. The essence of Gary Kurz' book is captured on his dedication page: "To the many pet friends I have known, who shared portions of my life and all of my heart...I dedicate this work to honor your memory. Each chapter, each idea came through much prayer, study and tears. You have all gone on ahead. I will catch up to you later." This book is also implicitly dedicated to those of us who have loved, and lost, our pets. If you cannot imagine your pet's beautiful soul ending at death, there is good reason for that: God has not ordained it. He loves them, and calls them home when their bodies fail. We miss them terribly, but keep this hope in our hearts: "Until the Morn,' our dear, beloved pets; we will see you in the morning." Thank you, Gary, for the work you have done; I highly recommend "Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates" to everyone mourning the death of their beloved pet.
Rating: Summary: Informative & Comforting Review: "Cold Noses At The Pearly Gates" was an excellently written book. There was so much information in it that was very well researched & Biblical. He took the time & effert to do what I didn't have the time to do & wrote it in a very understandable way.I have believed the things in this book all my life but it was impossible to find anyone who shared my feelings. I am a great animal lover & have pets I long to see again some day. Thanks to Gary Kurz I feel that will happen.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful comforting book! Review: I love this book!!! When my dog died I didn't know how to get past it. I had so many questions. Some people would just say animals do not have souls so therefore they don't go to heaven. That's not good enough for me! Gary Kurz goes into detail about this with evidence from the bible to show that our pets are provided for by God. To me that is so comforting and fills my heart with peace and hope! This book is the one thing that has brought me comfort after losing my best friend so I recommend it to anyone who is hurting and looking for some answers. I can't even put into words how much Gary Kurz's work has helped answer the questions in my heart. He even shares some personal stories that all animal lovers can relate to! I felt that Mr. Kurz was speaking directly to me, like he could see into my heart and know the questions I had because he answered every single one of them!
Rating: Summary: Very Inspiring Review: This book is the most helpful book, I have ever read about my pets and the afterlife. Not only did it give enlightenment to the fact that our pets will be in heaven, Mr. Kurz gave Biblical reference as to how he came to his conclusions. We do not just have to take him at his word, he has proven it by Biblical interptation. This was important to me, as well as others that have read his books. I want to think him for his time and efforts to this affect. He has taken something very controversial and with Gods help made it, a very understanding subject. If you have not read this book and have pets or have lost a pet, I ask you to please get this book today. You will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: Inspiring, Comforting, Uplifting Review: I read this book and found it to be inspiring, comforting, uplifting and so very helpful. I am completely dumbfounded by the spurious reviews submitted for this book. This book is perhaps the best book available on pet loss and pet afterlife. The author states right up front that he realizes a lot of readers may not be of his same faith, and therefore he purposely avoided loading a lot of scripture on them. Instead he paraphrased what the Bible said. ... This is a great book and you will miss out on the comfort it offers if you have lost a best friend.
Rating: Summary: It was Gods answer to my prayer and gave me hope Review: ...Gary Kurtz's book was a gift from God. He loves animals as much as me and he has dedicated his life to searching out Gods eternal plan for these precious gifts we call "pets". It comes through in his words and his message. If you need biblical answers to this question, Pearly Gates is the answer.e I know that if you read this book, your heart will be touched and you life will be blessed. Mine was!
Rating: Summary: Pet lovers Review: Anyone who has owned and loved a pet will appreciate this book. I have created a little memory book using another book, Write from Your Heart, A Healing Grief Journal. I put pictures and wrote about stories I don't want to forget.
Rating: Summary: Glad I found this book Review: I am glad I found this book. I searched all over the internet[...] There is a lot of other good stuff there too, but I wanted this book - and am glad I found it - it helped me with my grief and gave me comfort.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: I enjoyed reading "Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates" because it brought comfort and understanding to me, knowing that our "loved ones" (pets) are at peace and with God. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member, sometimes worse. Gary Kurz gives his sincere and honest thoughts regarding our beloved animals after they pass away. The book brought light to many questions I had regarding losing a pet. I truly appreciate Mr. Kurz' knowledge of the Bible and was very impressed with stories and connections to the Bible. The pages of the book were full of stories, many very humorous. I like the book so much I display it on my coffee table. I was so delighted when Gary Kurz wrote a second book "Cold Noses II" that is on the coffee table also. Many friends inquired about my books on the coffee table and planned on ordering the delightful books. I feel that Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates is thought provoking, humorous and a wonderful book to read. There was great comfort and joy reading this book ~ I sincerely hope a third book will be in the works. A MUST READ!! The book is the perfect gift for someone who lost a pet (recently or ever). I did give this book as a gift, more than once, the receivers were most gracious and thankful for the needed encouragement. Again, a must read! ***** C :-)
