Summary: A great multitude who have discovered Gabaldon.....
Review: I am SO elated at finding so many others who love this book series as much as I do. I, too, find all other books beneath these. Enthralled, enraptured are dim words for the involvement I felt with this story and these wonderful, intelligent, courageous characters. And the love between Jamie and Claire is what we still look for today. Thank you Ms. Gabaldon for what you put into these books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: LIKE NO OTHER BOOK YOU HAVE EVER READ
Review: DIANA TAKES YOU ON A MIND BOGGLING TIME ADVENTURE LIKE NO OTHER. I CANNOT RECCOMEND THIS BOOK HIGHLY ENOUGH. I AM A AMATEUR SCOTTISH HISTORIAN, AND SHE IS "RIGHT ON THE MARK". IF YOU READ ONLY ONE BOOK THIS YEAR, IT SHOULD BE OUTLADER, (AND HER COMPANION BOOKS AS WELL.)

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Scottish history laced liberally with lusty romance.
Review: I made the mistake of reading "Drums of Autumn" first and was disappointed, not realizing that there were three books that came before. Yes, Ms. Gabaldon's fascination with Scotish history and attention to detail can bog down the faint of heart. But for others who are looking for a good excuse to read "Romance", (in their hearts they know they LOVE the lust, but have to justify it someway) OUTLANDER more than adequately delivers. Although Clair, at times, seems almost too perfect in her ability to adjust to early 1700's Scotland, you can forgive Ms. Gabaldon because she gives us Jamie. Oh, yes, he's too good to be true too, but we can easily forgive him. Ms. Gabaldon proves the theory that there is a lot to be said for a younger man. My only caution would be the vividly explicit homosexual sex and torture scenes. My own goose bumps and shivers were a physical reaction to very bloody mental pictures. A compliment to the author, but not a good read for everyone. (I recommend the squeamish buy the book anyway and just skip those parts.) They really don't want to miss this very entertaining and "educational" read.

Summary: The Best Book I have Ever Read and I have read thousands!!!!
Review: It is a shame that this wonderful work is so simply categorized as a Romance Novel. It is so much more. It is intelligently written and the attention detail is a work of art. Diana Gabaldon is brillant......her characters never leave you! One would nearly believe that Diana Gabaldon herself was Claire........somewhere in time. If you choose to read Outlander, you may as well purchase Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager and Drums of Autumn.....trust me!!! :)

Summary: Banished to a deserted island? Take her books with you!
Review: I had always kept a running list of books I would take with me should I ever be banished to a deserted island for whatever reason. I burned that list after reading "The Outlander". Gabaldon's novels are above and beyond anything else I have ever read. Gabaldon places you in an era of history that we will never have the chance to experience. At the same time, she makes you feel for the characters to the point where I cried and laughed out loud. These books really should be under something other than "romance". They would fit well under action/adventure or drama, but they are definitely much more than romance. It is by far the best book I have read in a very long time. I read an average of 20 books per month. None have moved me like "The Outlander". I am about to continue the journey as soon as I get my order for the second "DragonFly in Amber"... These books are to be shared with friends and re-read over the years.

Summary: This book is simply the best!
Review: This series has replaced all others as my favorite in Historical Fiction (and I have been reading the genre for 20+ years!) I have re-read the series many times and the story and characters never fade. I even bought the books on audio tape (also good, but necessarily abbreviated). I don't know how Diana Gabaldon came up with such an interesting saga, but I hope she never stops writing the next episode!

Summary: Best book of this type I've ever read!
Review: I read an average of 2 novels per week. I read this book when it first came out years ago and it is by far the best I've ever read. I've passed my copy along to at least 5 other people who all felt the same way. I bought the sequels in hardback because I couldn't wait to read them. Claire is a great character but Jaime is awesome. He's funny, self-deprecating, and sexy as hell (I didn't even like red haired men!). This novel doesn't stop and you won't want it to.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: TOTALLY OVER-RATED BY YOUR READERS
Review: Outlander was okay and I enjoyed it....but I came nowhere near the rhapsody decribed by your reviewers! Is Gabaldon trying to take Michener's or Clancey's place in the world with the thickest books on the shelf? There was no reason for this story to have taken over 800 pages (paper back). It could have been told just as convincingly in half the pages. I'll read some of the ensuing books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I don't want it to end.
Review: I was told about this book by a history buff. I told others about it before I even got to read it myself. Everyone that I have spoken to that has read it can not put it down. I am near the end of 'Drums of Autumn' and can't seem to finish because I don't want it to end. You can become totally engrossed in this "fantasy". 'Outlander' is just the beginning. Even if you don't think you have time for 4,000 plus pages- you will make the time. It got me to got me to go looking for my Celtic past and it was the trip of my life (lives)! Who knows what it will do for you.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is my favorite book.
Review: I've read it many times and each time I gather more information about Claire & Jamie & Scotland.
