Summary: Sloppy Firsts is The BEST!!
Review: OMG!! Sloppy Firsts is the best book I have ever read! I have passed it around to more than 10 of my friends, and now more want to read it! I would recommend it to any group of teen friends!!

Summary: Not the best
Review: This book reminded me of a cross between two of my favorite novels-The Princess Diaries and Speak. Like the Princess Diaries, Sloppy Firsts is written like a diary. Like Speak, Jessica Darling is NOT having a happy life. However, The Princess Diaries and Speak are muche better books. Everyone in this book has parts when I couldn't stand them. And Jessica has bad thoughts about everything. This book wasn't very funny, but I couldn't stop reading, and I had to know what was going to happen. However, this book is really deppressing, and there are better books out there.

Summary: a new twist on the not so average teenage diary
Review: i really enjoyed this book. the first few pages (when Jess Darling, the main character, pines for her best friend who just moved away) were a bit slow. but somewhere along the line, i got sucked into this book, experiencing the very strange oddities of Jess' life. true, she does complain constantly about almost everything, but by doing so, it makes the story seem more real. i mean, what teenage girl stuck in a patriarchal school and oppressive family wouldn't? throughout the novel, the author was able to calculate everything in such a way that it made the story unfold very smoothly (although there were some rigid edges along the way). overall, although this undoubtedly sounds corny, this is the not so typical diary of a "Notso Darling" teen who tries "to find herself." however, one thing i disliked though about this book was the ending (not that it was in any way "bad"- it just sort of ended a little too abruptly for my tastes)! it was a definite surprise. thank goodness there is sequel coming up.
McCafferty does use some rough language, though, objectable to probably many people. McCafferty also describes events somewhat bluntly, especially concerning sexual scenes. but that what makes this book interesting. and the sexual situations aren't so out of norm in the average middle-class highschool. even if it IS in New Jersey.

Summary: the BEST book!!
Review: omg I loved this book so much!!! Jessica seemed so real, and i could relate so easily. The relationship between Marcus and Jessica really kept me reading, and i was so mad about how it ended. I cant wait to read Second Helpings!!

Summary: Don't Bother
Review: I was so excited to read this book! It seems as if it would be a terrific "beach read" of a book, something funny and light-hearted. I thought it would make me laugh at the funny and emphatic events that teens go through during high school, but I was surprised to read a story of stupid plots and annoying characters. Although depicted very well, the main character, Jessica Darling, complained throughout the whole book. I was very dissapointed; instead of an enjoyable story about a teenage girl, it was a stupid plot about a teen who did nothing but complain.

Summary: Sloppy Firsts
Review: First of all, I confess, I didn't finish this book. As I was reading, it seemed that the author used profanity and crude language because she thought it sounded cool and hip and trendy, rather than because it was necessary to portray the characters correctly, or to set the tone, or advance the plot. I bought this book for my 14 year old daughter, but didn't pass it along after what I read. Not only was it crude for no apparent reason, it also wasn't very good.

Summary: Sloppy ... Ending?
Review: I loved this entire book to pieces! It was amazing. A quick, fun read that kept me wanting to turn page after page. However, the ending left me with a sour taste. I didn't like it + didn't feel any closure.

Summary: By Far The Coolest Book I've Ever Read
Review: When I read a describtion of this book ...I was sure I'd love it, so I bought it. The first two pages, I had some doubts but I kept reading and immediatley fell in love. It's so realistic and I think all teenage girls can relate. Its unique, funny, and refreshingly witty! I totally recommend buying this book!
