Rating: Summary: What a heartache! Review: When I first started reading this book, I was very skeptical. After the the fifth tense change, I was hooked. I've read VERY few books that make me cry and laugh out loud all at the same time. Jodi Picoult is a master at making every scene seem very realistic. I could have easily known these people and had friendships with all of them. Her attention to detail was stimulating and prompted me to continue reading. The book was finished in about five hours - I just couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: WOW. An absolute WOW. Review: I am only halfway through the book, but since last night I have not been able to put it down. What an amazing and creative way to bring this story to life. Not only do I love the story, I love Jodi's style. WONDERFUL READ.
Rating: Summary: This Book Really Hits Deep Inside Review: This is the first book I've read by Jodi Picoult and all I can say is wow! I literally couldn't put this down...someone had to take it out of my hands to get me to the dinner table. It's been a long time since a book has really made me feel som many emotions at once..pity, sorrow, anger..and then happiness too (during the flashbacks of course). I've already recommended this book to family and friends. If you want to escape and become totally emersed in the world of someone else..this is the book for you!
Rating: Summary: What Could Be Sweeter Than A Childhood Romance? Review: Two families have lived next door to each other for many years. Not only has an intense friendship been maintained between the two sets of parents, but also the daughter of one family has, literally since birth, been closely paired with a son of the other family. It is now accepted by all concerned that Chris and Emily will eventually be married. Then Emily is shot dead, and Chris becomes the key suspect. Was her death part of a suicide pact? Why would this outgoing, normal girl remotely consider suicide? The book flashes back and forth between life before and after the tragic incident. This is an unusual and interesting novel that explores a problem that can arise between two intimates who have known each other all of their lives. My main dissatisfaction with the tale revolves around Chris's reasoning processes through all the sturm und drang of the events. But then again teen agers don't always think with wisdom. It would not be fair to flesh out this concern of mine in any detail without disclosing too much of the plot, however. Good read if you are looking for a tale of an unusual romance.
Rating: Summary: i couldn't put it down... the best book ever written Review: this is the best book i have ever read. I didn't put it down until the end. Being 16 I related to the book very well. Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful book! Review: This was the first book that I read by Jodi Picoult. After this one, I rushed out to buy whatever I could find. This is an excellent book about a young couple who grew up together and whose parents always figured would marry. They did fall in love, and then tragedy strikes. One of the two die, and the other becomes a suspect. An absolute must read!
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: So theres 58 reviews already, whats one more? I couldn't put this book down once i started reading it. I read it in a span of 3 days. At some points it made me laugh and remember some old times with my neighbors, and sometimes it made me cry. Totally a good book.
Rating: Summary: Very intense for the topic. Review: My first read for this writer. Have since added her to my list of authors. This book will stay with me for some time.
Rating: Summary: a disturbing and realistic picture of today's teens Review: This book, while well written and quite compelling, was disturbing in it's realness regarding the issue of teen suicide. It releases clues throughout the story as to why someone with so much going for themselves would want to die. There was one line that has stayed with me: where the psychiatrist states that for teens suicide is an act of despair and one of power- how true. The other component of the story that is very troublesome is the issue of how one person can get talked into helping someone commit suicude. The whole story reveals the utter vulnerability of adolescence. Read it but beware- it will stay with you for a long time.
Rating: Summary: An awesome story that catches your breath cover to cover Review: I could not put this book down. A friend gave it to me to read and once I opened to the first page, I was not focused until it was finished. It really moved me to think about life and friendships, the relationships we have, and how events can forever alter that perception. It also shows you the way different people react to similar information. I loved this book and will read whatever the author produces in the future.
